Detailed Description

Introduction

THE WROE BOAT, a 2007 VIKING 45 OPEN, is a compelling showcase of tournament-bred performance and family-ready versatility, driven by low-hour MAN 1100 hp Common Rail engines for excellent speed and efficiency. Celebrated as one of VIKING’s most coveted open models, the 45 OPEN combines straight inboard drives with a solid fiberglass hull and nearly perfect weight distribution to deliver a fast, dry, and remarkably stable ride when seas send similar-size boats back to the dock. Meticulously maintained and generously outfitted, THE WROE BOAT is presented in superb condition—equally at home chasing pelagics, cruising elegantly, or entertaining in comfort.

Walkthrough

THE WROE BOAT welcomes you with a broad, air-conditioned helm deck offering unobstructed visibility and abundant seating—an ideal social hub for cruising days and tournament lay days alike. A sliding starboard door leads below, where several steps reveal a practical, well-finished layout: the galley resides to starboard opposite an upgraded ultra-leather L-shaped sofa to port. The first of two staterooms is to port and features upper and lower bunks, while the forward master stateroom centers on an island-style berth and enjoys private entry to the single starboard head; the head is also accessible from the companionway for convenience. Tasteful updates elevate the interior with all-new chrome interior trim, cabinet and door hardware, a new chrome shower glass door, and refreshed sink faucet, towel bars, and shower fixtures. A serious cockpit caps off the design: with a tackle center, engine room access, an in-deck fish box, and a refrigerated step for drinks, its space and functionality rival—and often exceed—those of many larger boats.

Salon

The salon ushers you in through a sliding door to an inviting space tempered by CruisAir heating and air conditioning, where a high-gloss teak veneer finish and solid cherry Amtico flooring set a warm, upscale tone. An upgraded ultra-leather L-shaped sofa with ample under-seat storage pairs with a teak cocktail table for relaxed gatherings, while entertainment is anchored by a Samsung Flatscreen Smart LED TV, a Clarion Sirius/XM stereo with TV surround sound, and recessed speakers in the headliner. Lighting is elegantly executed with AC/DC recessed fixtures on dimmers and soft indirect illumination behind the valances. Ship’s AC/DC/inverter electric panels are smartly centralized, a Dyson built-in handheld vacuum stands ready for quick touch-ups, and security and vessel oversight are enhanced by the Ghost Phantom alarm and monitoring system covering doors, bilge pumps, smoke detectors, and power loss.

Galley

Purpose-built for life aboard, the galley is appointed with Corian countertops, a sink served by a Grohe faucet, and a garbage disposal, backed by a microwave/convection oven and a two-burner cooktop with a removable cover. LED under-cabinet lighting casts a clear, efficient glow over meal prep, while an under-counter Nova Kool refrigerator/freezer benefits from custom ventilation to preserve the units. Thoughtful storage solutions and a water tank gauge complete this sea-friendly culinary workspace.

Master stateroom

The master stateroom forward blends comfort and practicality, featuring CruisAir heating and air conditioning and an island double bed that lifts to reveal generous storage below. Two hanging lockers, dedicated drawer storage, and a mirrored forward bulkhead maximize utility and light, while recessed, dimmable AC/DC direct lighting and indirect accents create a restful ambiance. Entertainment and connectivity are covered by a Samsung Smart LED TV and stereo speakers tied into the interior system with independent volume control, and natural airflow comes via an overhead deck hatch.

Guest stateroom

The guest stateroom to port is an inviting retreat with custom fabrics and carpet, upper and lower bunks, and independent fan control tied to its CruisAir heating and air conditioning. Storage includes a hanging locker and space under the bottom bunk, while recessed, dimmable AC/DC lighting and an overhead hatch enhance comfort. Guests enjoy their own Samsung LED TV, stereo speakers linked to the interior system with volume control, and convenient access to the head.

Head

Located to starboard with entry from either the companionway or the master stateroom, the head is climate-controlled by CruisAir and finished with a vanity and sink, a stall shower with a proper shower door, and a medicine cabinet. Practicalities abound with an exhaust fan, storage for linens, an automatic shower sump, a VacuFlush head, and a bright overhead deck hatch, all set over handsome teak Amtico flooring.

Helm

Command at the helm from within an EZ2CY full enclosure behind a raised wrap-around windshield, settled into three Murray Products teak ladder-back chairs, all comforted by CruisAir heating and air conditioning on the helm deck. Visibility and control are exceptional with three windshield wipers, a fiberglass pod mounting electronic Palm Beach–style single-lever controls, a recessed and enclosed instrument panel with a clear cover, and covered electronics boxes. Precision is assured via Rexroth controls and a MAN backup electric controls system, complemented by manual engine shut-down switches, VHF radios and switches in the console radio box, and a Moritz vessel systems monitor. Entertainment and clarity of sound come courtesy of a Clarion Sirius/XM receiver, 7" JL Audio speakers, and a 10" sub-woofer, with useful storage beneath bench seating. Overhead, a Palm Beach Towers hardtop and tuna tower integrate four colored LED recessed lights, LED running and stern lights molded into the hardtop, and a recessed teaser reel box with two Miya Epoch US-8 electric teaser reels. Safety and convenience are furthered by fire suppression system control and a U-Line refrigerator and icemaker AC/D.

Electronics and navigational equipment

Navigation and situational awareness are comprehensively equipped with a Paradox/Gost Nav Tracket vessel tracking system and the Gost Phantom alarm and monitoring system overseeing doors, bilge pumps, smoke detectors, and power loss. At the helm, a new Furuno TZ Touch2 multi-functional device integrates with Furuno NavNet on an MU120C display, a Furuno NavPilot autopilot, a VEI 24V DC computer with wireless mouse, a Furuno NavNet color depth sounder with 50/200KW transducers, and a Furuno 12KW color radar with a 6' array. Two Furuno RD30 displays complement a Garmin 5280 chart plotter, while engine data is delivered by two MAN MMDS-CLC engine monitors. Communications and guidance include two ICOM 602 VHF radios, two Ritchie compasses, an ACR electric spotlight, and an ACR 2742 EPIRB. Night operations benefit from a FLIR night vision system, and systems status is further supported by a Moritz vessel systems monitor. Entertainment is seamless via two DIRECTV satellite receivers, also networked into the helm monitors, and a Clarion Sirius XM stereo system with remote controls throughout. Steering is smooth and confident with power-assist hydraulic wheel steering and twin Shakespeare VHF antennas.

Main deck

Forward, a stainless steel Lewmar anchor sits on a custom stainless steel bow roller ahead of a Lewmar V3 windlass with remote control, with freshwater wash-down in the anchor locker and an anchor locker speaker connection driven by a dedicated amplifier. The hardtop carries secure handrails as well as molded-in LED navigation and stern lights, and the foredeck features three Bomar hatches, stainless steel rub rails, Awlgrip-finished bilges, engine room, and anchor locker, and fiberglass side thru-hulls. Performance is extended with an additional forward fuel tank and oval exhaust outlets, while the lighting package has been upgraded throughout with all-new four-color LED illumination under the gunwales in the cockpit, in the hardtop, on the tower buggy top, and under the tower floor. All cushions have been reupholstered in Sunbrella. The Palm Beach Towers tuna tower with molded fiberglass hardtop and buggy top integrates a Rexroth/Aventics tower control station, an ICOM M45 VHF radio, a control box with controls, steering, and electronics, a Garmin 5208 chart plotter, a Furuno RD30, Bennett trim tab controls, reupholstered bench seat and backrest cushions, a freshwater wash-down, and 7" JL Audio speakers with independent volume control and a dedicated amplifier.

Cockpit and fishing equipment

A tournament-grade 119 sq. ft. cockpit is centered by a Release Marine BS6 Battle Saddle and fully rigged with a transom live bait well, an in-deck bait well with a gas piston for the lid, and an in-deck fish box with gas pistons for the lids. Offshore capability is amplified by Pipe Welders 36' triple spreader outriggers and a Pipe Welders center rigger, a six-rod rocket launcher on the aft hardtop, two clearing rod holders on each tower leg, and four flush-mount gunwale rod holders. The tackle center with drawers and a bait prep center keeps the cockpit organized, supported by a 4.5 cubic ft. cockpit freezer, GOST-alarmed engine room access, a lazarette hatch, and two Miya Epoch US8 24V DC teaser reels. Wash-downs for both freshwater and saltwater, two dimmable quartz spreader lights, an Eskimo icemaker, four under-gunwale electric reel outlets in 12V and 24V, and two macerator pumps for the fish box and live well round out the rig, while a transom tuna door, 7" JL Audio under-gunwale speakers with a 10" sub-woofer, a cockpit cover, and a Sunfly cockpit awning shade add safety, sound, and shade.

Electrical system

Power is confidence aboard, with a 240–120 volt AC electrical system and a 12–24 volt DC electrical system supported by a 1500W inverter and a DC electrical package with an inverter panel so cabin lights, galley, and helm refrigeration all run on DC voltage—no need to run the generator. Custom AC and DC lighting systems span the vessel, with electrical control panels located in the salon. Charging and storage include two alternators, two independent battery banks, a battery parallel switch, and eight AGM batteries—four in each bank—managed by a Phase Three smart battery charger and protected by an electrical bonding system. Shore and ship power are further refined via an Onan 17.5 kW generator with 2450 hours, a Smart Isoboost voltage stabilizer, a Vanner 80 AMP battery equalizer, and a Glendenning Cablemaster for the shore power cable.

Engine and mechanical equipment

Performance is delivered by twin MAN Common Rail engines showing 2130 hours, backed by documented service and yearly oil analysis. Shipboard comfort is maintained by three CruisAir air conditioner compressors and clean air via an air filtration system, while steering remains precise with a Sea Star hydraulic power steering system. Engine room airflow is optimized by the Viking Delta-T ventilation system, and bilge pumps feature remote monitoring through the GOST security and monitoring system. Mechanical reliability extends to two main engine crash pumps, an electronic engine synchronizer, and electronic trolling valves, all mounted on Viking I‑beam engine mounts within a sound-insulated engine room protected by an automatic fire suppression system. Fuel cleanliness and flow are ensured by Racor and secondary fuel filters, Hummel alarmed water/fuel separators, DC-powered fuel priming pumps, and three fuel tanks served by a DC-powered transfer pump. Serviceability is enhanced by remote oil filters, an oil transfer system, and engine room and tower remote start/stop switches. The driveline features ZF transmissions, 5‑blade Veem Interceptor props with prop speed, and stainless steel propeller shafts with prop speed. Fresh water is managed by a filtration system, 110V and 24V fresh water pumps, and a 110V high-pressure Grundfoss fresh water pump, alongside a salt water wash-down pump, a 240V hot water heater, and a waste water holding tank with overboard discharge. Attention to detail shines with all pump strainers and the engine room finished in snow white Awlgrip, dedicated engine room rod storage, and a high-capacity air horn with compressor.

Hull

Finished in premium Viking white gelcoat with a five-step high-polish treatment, the hull is equipped with rudders and rudder seals, Bennett trim tabs, and Ocean LED underwater lights. The bottom was painted in November 2018, with a custom-painted boot stripe and a custom swim platform completing the profile; transom swim steps are available.
