Overview

Green Eyes is an arresting sailing yacht whose avant‑garde profile was ahead of its era at launch and still looks strikingly current today. Maintained without compromise and upgraded continually, she operates with the seamless precision expected of a luxury yacht. Privately registered and consistently RINA classed, she meets the exacting standards of this renowned society, reflecting the care invested in every detail.

Her distinctive canting keel, paired with twin daggerboards, delivers rare balance: real comfort and composure under heel plus formidable power when sailing upwind. The dependable Magic Trim system streamlines every maneuver, enabling true short‑handed sailing; from the helm, push‑button controls govern mainsail and genoa, so a single helmsman can tack and gybe with confidence and without working winches underway. It is an elegant expression of modern yacht engineering that turns performance into effortless pleasure.

The open stern—developed in collaboration with Wally—was pioneering at the time and transformed how sailing yachts connect to the sea, making water access easy, social, and beautifully simple. A flush teak deck and clean, elongated lines underscore her streamlined character, while the yacht comes alive under a large asymmetric spinnaker or Code Zero, showing the poise and acceleration of a true performance cruiser and racer‑cruiser. Light airs or lively breezes, she rewards touch and trim with crisp, responsive speed.

Built as a full‑carbon performance sailing yacht, with hull, mast, boom, and shrouds in carbon fiber, Green Eyes combines stiffness, reduced weight, and quiet strength for bluewater cruising and offshore passages alike. Inside, bespoke Henryot furnishings and refined finishes create a serene, contemporary ambience that pairs craftsmanship with understated luxury. For owners seeking a fast cruiser with the pedigree to compete and the grace to roam, this RINA‑classed, carbon fiber sailing yacht brings cutting‑edge innovation, elegant design, and near single‑handed capability together in one timeless, modern classic.

Detailed Description

Detailed description

Green Eyes is a full-displacement sailing yacht from Wally, hull no. 124, conceived by naval architect German Frers with an exterior by Luca Bassani Design and an interior by Piero Castellini. Delivered in 2002 and comprehensively refit in 2021, she has been privately registered and continuously classified by RINA to notation (100 AS - 1.1 Y), upholding exacting standards throughout her life. Built in carbon fibre and flying the flag of Malta, she presents a gross tonnage of 90 and a net tonnage of 26, with an approximate fully loaded displacement of 80 tons. A dedicated crew of up to four runs the yacht to immaculate effect, with a program that has never been constrained by budget.

At 32.90 m LOA (107'11") with a 27.90 m LWL (91'6"), a 7.00 m beam (23'0") and a maximum draft of 4.20 m (13'9"), her fine Frers hull lines deliver both poise and purpose. Under power, the single Caterpillar 3126 diesel rated at 287 kW (385 Hp) drives through a ZF 280A gearbox to a shaft line with a Brunton Varifold propeller featuring four folding blades. This package yields a maximum speed of 12 knots and a comfortable 10-knot cruise, with a range of 1,500 nm at 10 knots and fuel consumption of approximately 30 litres per hour (8 US gallons) at that speed. Fuel capacity stands at 4,400 litres (1,162 US gallons), complemented by 2,200 litres (581 US gallons) of fresh water, 100 litres (26 US gallons) of lube oil, and 315 litres (83 US gallons) of black water.

Accommodation is intelligently configured for up to eight guests in four cabins, supported by quarters for up to four crew in two cabins. The master suite is arranged with two double berths, each served by its own WC and separate shower. Two guest cabins each provide two single beds and a Pullman berth, and each guest cabin enjoys a private WC with a separate shower. Crew spaces comprise two cabins each with two single bunk beds and a shared crew bathroom featuring separate WCs and a common shower, ensuring privacy and practicality on board.

Her mechanical and hotel engineering have been kept to exemplary standards. Main engine hours stand at 6,953 as of 21 August 2025. Two Onan generators, both fitted in 2021, deliver 27 kW (36 Hp) or 33.8 kVA on Gen.1 and 19 kW (25 Hp) or 23 kVA on Gen.2, with hours of 1,556 and 2,008 respectively as of 21 August 2025. Steering is by a robust mechanical system with a generous 50º rudder angle, assisted by a retractable hydraulic Max Power 300 bowthruster for precision in close quarters. Electrical systems include 220/380 Volt AC at 50 Hz and 12/24 Volt DC, with shore power rated at 380 Volt / 50 Hz, 63 A. Battery capacity is substantial, with a 24 V, 550 Ah gel service bank, a 24 V, 550 Ah gel lighting bank, and a dedicated main engine and generator starting bank composed of two 12 V AGM batteries. Charging is via three Mastervolt 24/100 units (380–24 Volt, 100 Amp) and a 140 A, 24 Volt alternator, while two Mastervolt Mass Sine 24/2500 inverters provide clean onboard power.

Hydraulics are by Cariboni and include four Magic Trims, bowthruster control, jib and Code Zero furlers, four powered winches, a furling boom, a highly effective canting keel and two canards. The hydraulic circuit is supplied by an electric pump (24 V, 6 kW), a power take-off coupled to Generator 1 (27 kW) and a main engine power take-off, ensuring redundancy and responsiveness. Climate control is provided by a Condaria system with two compressors rated at 72,000 BTU feeding eight fan coils, while the fresh water circuit draws on 2,200-litre tanks with twin Gianneschi 24 V pumps and a Tecnicomar watermaker producing 180 litres per hour on 380 Volt AC. The sanitation system is a Sanisplit installation with automatic Tecma toilets, and fuel is polished through Separ filters for reliability.

A distinguished Southern Spars carbon rig crowns the yacht, featuring a carbon mast with four spreaders and a Southern Spars carbon furling mainsail boom. Standing rigging is Future Fibres ECsix carbon side rigging and forestay from 2018, with a Dyneema backstay by Gottifredi Maffioli. Running rigging and lines have been prudently renewed, with halyards by Gottifredi Maffioli from 2022 and sheets by Alpha Ropes from 2023. Furling is handled by a Cariboni hydraulic system. Her sail wardrobe numbers nine sails with a combined sail area of 559 m², including a North Sails 3Di mainsail from 2018 at 339.55 m²; a North Sails trysail (2002) and storm jib (2002); headsails comprising a North Sails 3DL from 2013 at 306.3 m² and a Doyle Stratis from 2020 at 210 m²; asymmetric spinnakers in the form of a North Sails A2 (2022) at 1,033 m² and a North Sails A3 (2002) at 900 m²; and Code Zeros including a Doyle Stratis 1,100 Top Down Cableless (2021) at 675 m² and a North Sails Cuben Fibre (2018) at 602 m². Primary and secondary trimming is empowered by Harken hardware, with two Harken 1135 electric winches, two Harken 1135 hydraulic winches and two Harken 1140 hydraulic winches.

Navigation and communication are thoroughly modern. The yacht is fitted with two Riviera White Star BW3 magnetic compasses and a B&G H5000 Pilot with hydraulic pump for precise automated steering. A B&G sounder, B&G Halo 20+ radar and B&G V60-B AIS and VHF suite integrate with one Furuno GP170 GPS and a B&G ZG100 GPS antenna. Charting is displayed on two B&G Zeus Glass Helm 16" and one B&G Zeus Glass Helm 24" plotters, while a B&G WS700 Vertical Wind Sensor feeds high-fidelity apparent and true wind data. Surveillance is enhanced by PoE cameras at the masthead and in the engine room. For offshore connectivity, two Cobham Sailor 150 Broadband units with twin antennas at the spreaders provide dependable SATCOM, and long-range communication is supported by a Furuno FS-2575C SSB transceiver.

On deck, a hydraulic Lewmar 5000 anchor windlass handles ground tackle, assisted aft by two Harken 1140 capstan winches. Anchoring gear comprises a 200 lb main anchor and a Fortress FX-125 spare folding anchor, with 125 m of 16 mm galvanised chain and an additional 27.5 m of 16 mm galvanised spare chain. Boarding is facilitated by a carbon fibre manual passerelle and a stainless steel side boarding ladder, while time at anchor is elevated by two inflatable platforms that can be deployed at the stern or alongside for a versatile swimming platform arrangement.

The interior comforts include entertainment upgrades such as a Samsung 40" Smart 4K TV in the owner’s suite, and a Samsung 50" Smart 4K TV paired with a Bose soundbar and subwoofer in the main saloon. The galley is fully equipped for extended cruising with a gas stove and hob, three refrigerators and three freezers on a new 220 V AC system, plus a compact 24 V DC saloon fridge. Laundry is handled by a Teka LS15 1480 washing and drying machine, keeping the living environment fresh during long passages.

Safety and security provisions are comprehensive, with three life rafts for six persons each, two MOM8-A units, thirty-two lifejackets and full pyrotechnics. Fire protection is robust, with thirteen fire extinguishers including two in the engine room that can be activated from outside or automatically, a three-phase fire pump with two hoses and a portable fire pump with hose. A Zodiac Yachtline 400 tender powered by a 25 hp Yamaha engine serves ship-to-shore duties, while watersports inventory includes a wakeboard set, a water ski set and two inflatable paddleboards. A diving kit with an 18-litre bottle rounds out the equipment for aquatic adventures.

Her maintenance narrative underscores a culture of continual improvement. In 2025, antifouling was renewed. In 2023, the antifouling and hatches were repainted. The 2022 works included repainting the topsides with new All Grip paint and a Diamond clear coat on the gold stripes, along with sand-blasting the antifouling back to base and applying new primer and antifouling. The pivotal 2021 refit saw the keel and all hydraulics disassembled and fully serviced at Cariboni, the mast serviced with the Future Fibres ECsix rigging completing its five-year service in Valencia, the main engine overhauled, new generators installed and the entire engine room emptied and upgraded. Key ongoing points include engine servicing strictly to manufacturer manuals, a refrigerator system upgrade with new compressors in 2024, a PLC upgrade to current standards in 2024, complete electronics replacement in 2020 with high-quality brands and the removal of all legacy equipment, upgraded winches with repainted drums, teak in good condition, annual rigging inspections by Rig Pro in line with manufacturer guidance and diligent winter dry storage for sails.

Beyond the specification, Green Eyes captivates with a profile that was radical at launch and remains contemporary today. Her unique canting keel with twin daggerboards delivers striking comfort and power upwind, while the Cariboni Magic Trim system brings effortless, dependable sail handling that makes near single-handed operation a reality. From the helm, one person can tack and gybe both mainsail and genoa at the touch of the integrated push buttons. The open stern, developed in collaboration with Wally and pioneered on Green Eyes, transformed the way sailing yachts access the water and still defines her deck lifestyle today. She is electric in light air and exhilarating under a large asymmetric spinnaker or Code Zero, all while cocooning guests within interiors redecorated with bespoke Henryot furniture. As a full carbon performance cruiser—with hull, mast, boom and shrouds all in carbon fibre—she blends race-bred technology with cruising refinement, and thanks to meticulous, no-compromise care, she operates with seamless, faultless precision.
