Detailed Description
Features
A new-build sixty-foot cruising catamaran from a boutique shipyard, the WAVE 60 is a luxury sailing catamaran shaped by Wave Catamarans’ deep multihull expertise. This state-of-the-art bluewater cruiser turns a clear vision into reality, offering accommodation for up to eight guests and delivering maximum comfort without sacrificing seaworthiness. Conceived by dedicated multihull enthusiasts to transcend what the market offered before, it stands out as a refined performance multihull and charter-ready yacht with generous living spaces and effortless handling.
Features
The WAVE 60 is thoughtfully engineered as a premium cruising catamaran and performance multihull. Its hull and superstructure use a PVC foam core with a vinylester resin sandwich reinforced by carbon fiber, while the bulkheads follow the same high-strength composite recipe. A robust aluminium alloy crossbeam and aluminium alloy rudders complete a rigid, durable platform designed for ocean passages and charter service alike.
The mast, rigging and sails are specified for dependable bluewater sailing: a standard aluminium deck-stepped double-spreader mast pairs with an aluminium boom and lazy jacks, supported by stainless steel wire standing rigging. Power under sail comes from a fully battened Dacron mainsail with two reefs on a battcar system, matched to a Dacron genoa on an electric furling system for easy handling and consistent performance.
Deck gear and equipment emphasize safety, control and comfort. Anodized aluminium stanchions with Dyneema lifelines encircle the deck, with stainless steel available as an option. Two trampolines span the bows, while a 2,500 W windlass handles a 120 m, 12 mm chain and a 60 kg Rocna Vulcan anchor. Opening flush deck hatches and fixed portlights in every cabin bring light and airflow. Eight cleats in stainless steel or optional black finish, four electric winches for halyards with travellers, blocks and jammers, and a Carbon Nautica steering wheel provide confident sail management. Practicalities abound, including a fresh-water outlet at the port side, two retractable swim ladders on the skirts, tender davits, and an electric extendable swim platform that also lifts the tender. The hardtop features a retractable opening window, and a foldable gangway eases boarding in port.
Propulsion and fuel systems blend reliability with hybrid capability. Twin Volvo Penta D3-110 engines, each rated at 110 HP and paired with hybrid electric drives, connect to twin ZF SD 15 saildrives and folding propellers. Fuel is housed in two tanks of 477 liters each, and a bow thruster with its own starting batteries assists in close-quarters handling.
Electrical equipment is specified for genuine hotel autonomy. Two battery banks of 2 x 40 Ah at 360 V LiOn, equivalent to two by 600 Ah at twenty four V LiOn, provide sufficient capacity to run the entire catamaran’s hotel loads, including air conditioning and heating, for a full twelve hours overnight. Shore power is via two sixteen-amp cords. LED lighting is fitted inside and out, including deck and LED navigation lights. Air conditioning totals 90,000 BTU with individual control in each cabin. Power access includes 230 V sockets—four per cabin and six in the saloon—plus USB-3/USB-C charging points, three per cabin, three in the saloon and one on the flybridge. An advanced charging and hybrid propulsion option adds 18.5 kW electric engines with high-efficiency charging and hybrid drive (the Wave system), while solar panels on the forward roof deliver 5 kWP for sustainable cruising.
Plumbing is equally comprehensive, with two fresh-water tanks of 400 liters each, two water heaters of 80 liters each, and two black-water tanks of 372 liters each. Fresh-water electric toilets, two manual bilge pumps and four electric bilge pumps add practicality and safety, and a watermaker producing 400 liters per hour supports extended passages.
Electronics center on Garmin navigation. Outside, a GPSMAP 8412 twelve-inch chartplotter, a GMI 20 repeater, a GHC 20 autopilot control, a VHF 315i with handset, wind sensor, and depth, speed and temperature sensors keep the helm informed, while a 360-degree video surveillance system integrates three cameras on the mast and two aft. Inside, a second VHF 315i with handset maintains clear communication.
Domestic and entertainment amenities suit a luxury charter yacht and family cruiser alike: a side-by-side refrigerator and freezer with ice maker, microwave oven, induction cooker, double sink with a single-faucet Quooker, dishwasher and a dedicated wine fridge. In the bow cockpit there is a sink with a single faucet and a small fridge, matched by another small fridge on the flybridge. Entertainment includes a fifty-inch TV and an audio system serving the saloon, the front cockpit and the flybridge, plus Wi-Fi coverage in the saloon, front cockpit, all cabins and on the flybridge, with a TV/antenna onboard.
Safety equipment is delivered as a complete pack, including a life raft for twelve people and rescue essentials such as lifejackets, a first-aid kit, flares, a lifebuoy and a set of fire extinguishers. Accommodation and finishing are tailored to the owner, with standard layout choices for the cabin, galley, bow cockpit, flybridge and other areas, custom interior finishing, a hull painted in gelcoat, and a deck finished in Flexiteek or a similar standard. Altogether, the WAVE 60 stands as a capable luxury catamaran, a true bluewater cruising yacht and a versatile charter-ready multihull.
