A freshwater anchor washdown spigot keeps the gear clean and ready after every set and retrieval.
Engine room/mechanical equipment
At the heart of the machinery space, twin Caterpillar C32 diesel engines deliver 1652 hp each through ZF model 2060A gears, breathing through underwater exhausts with bypass and fiberglass mufflers for a refined acoustic signature. An integrated Naiad hydraulic system, driven by two PTO hydraulic pumps off the main gears, feeds a hydraulic oil tank with a seawater cooling circuit and a dedicated manifold serving the bow and stern thrusters and the stabilizers; the Naiad 32 hp hydraulic bow and stern thruster system and rebuilt Naiad stabilizers with twelve square foot fins and Datum dual control stations ensure confident maneuvering and composure at sea. Electrical power is anchored by twin Northern Lights 30 kW generators with full sound shields, protected by Racor filters with vacuum gauges, while locally mounted start/stop instrument panels for both main engines and generators simplify control. An engineered engine room ventilating system employs intake blowers drawing air through air/water separator filters on the hull sides, and a comprehensive fire protection installation—manually and automatically actuated with audio and visual alarms—shuts down blowers and closes hull-side ventilation inlet dampers upon activation. Steering is via a power hydraulic system with valves prepared for optional autopilot installation, and a work bench over the generator adds practical utility for maintenance.
Fuel and fluid management are meticulously addressed with Racor fuel filters and vacuum gauges on the main engines, complete with a manifold that allows filter changes underway, and a fuel management system comprising fuel shut‑off valves, a fuel transfer pump with meter, and a selector manifold. A REVERSO lube oil change system with manifold and hoses services all engines and gearboxes, supported by a fifty‑five gallon clean oil reservoir in the engine room. Potable water autonomy comes from a Sea Recovery watermaker producing 1800 gallons per day, complemented by two Headhunter AC water pumps and an accumulator tank for the fresh water pressure system, a Headhunter Mach 5 water pump with an additional accumulator tank for freshwater pressure, fresh water system cartridge filters, and a cartridge‑style whole‑system water filter unit. Domestic hot water is supplied by two 30‑gallon, dual‑element, quick‑recovery heaters, and a sink with a fresh water hose bib enhances serviceability. Monitoring is comprehensive with Hart Tank Tender gauges for fuel, freshwater, black water, and grey water tanks, pneumatic pump type. The sanitation suite is a Headhunter toilet system with the exception of SeaLand in the crew area, complemented by a blackwater tank level indicator with high‑level alarm, a blackwater holding tank system with a Y‑valve selector for direct overboard discharge or holding, and a macerator pump enabling pump‑out directly overboard or via a vented deck fitting for shore‑side disposal.
Safety and reliability are furthered by an engine‑driven emergency bilge pumping system for engine room bilges, automatic sump pumps, and automatic bilge pumps with electronic level detectors serving each compartment, alongside smoke detectors throughout. Raw water integrity is ensured by Groco bronze strainers on all engines and seawater pump intakes, with seacocks on all through‑hull fittings below the waterline. Climate control is delivered by a 220 VAC chilled‑water air‑conditioning system with reverse cycle for heat. Electrical and access appointments include five 100 VAC watertight fluorescent lights, automatic 24 VDC emergency lights, and 110 VAC outlets, two GFI type, while watertight access is provided by an entrance door from the aft swim step to the crew area and an emergency escape hatch from the engine room to the master stateroom. Acoustic refinement is achieved through a purpose‑engineered sound, vibration, and noise attenuation system using lead tile sound barriers and Mylar‑faced synthetic lead‑foam insulation, finished with white‑painted aluminum perforated sheeting and custom sound mounts for the main engines, generators, engine room stanchions, head pumps and motors, air‑conditioning compressors, and seawater cooling pumps. The running gear is equally robust, featuring Seashaft 22 equal propeller shafts, stainless steel rudder blades, Nibral propeller shaft struts, and Nibral five‑blade propellers, class S and dynamically balanced, with Duramax cutlass rubber stern and rudder bearings and PYI packless shaft seals.
Electrical system
Power on board is delivered with quiet confidence by two Kohler 30 kW generators fitted with sound shields and seamless transfer, ensuring uninterrupted energy underway or at anchor. Distribution is engineered around 220/110v, 60Hz AC and 24/12vDC electrical panels, with the main panels housed in the engine room and sub-panels strategically placed throughout the vessel for balanced, reliable supply. Dedicated voltmeters and ammeters monitor all supply circuits, while generating set/shore power selector switches and a shore power polarity indicator provide safe, intuitive source management. Shore connectivity is handled by a Glendinning Cablemaster shore power cable retrieval system with two 100 amp single-phase services and a 100' cable, complemented by a 25 kVA isolation transformer, a shore telephone inlet, and a shore cable television inlet. A comprehensive copper bonding system ties all through-hull fittings and major metal components to exterior hull zinc anodes, and a Dynaplate grounding plate with strap links the system to the pilothouse and flybridge ground terminal boards.
The DC architecture is equally robust, featuring two 24vDC 245Ah 8D AGM battery tanks for engine starting and ship service, a battery parallel system at both helm stations, two 24vDC 60A battery chargers, two 12vDC 175 amp-hour battery banks dedicated to generator starting, and a 12vDC 20A battery charger. Power refinement and electronics protection are enhanced by a 50 amp Vanner 12vDC equalizer with a 12vDC 120 amp-hour battery and 12 spare 24/12vDC circuit breakers in a sub-panel for electronic use. Illumination circuits benefit from one 24vDC 198Ah 4D battery bank, ensuring consistent lighting performance independent of other loads.
Command and visibility are refined with a ZF wired remote system for easy docking and an ACR 100 searchlight with dual station remote control. Interior and exterior ambiance is curated by valance lights and floor rope lighting with conveniently placed control switches, while automatic wardrobe lights add effortless practicality. Safety-focused illumination includes 24vDC emergency lights that activate automatically upon loss of AC power, thoughtfully incorporating floor and stairway lights with selected overhead lighting, and each stateroom is equipped with removable emergency flashlights. Personal comfort is supported by 24vAC reading lights, and 110vAC receptacles in the galley, heads, and exterior are protected by GFI safety breakers. Security alarm sensors safeguard all doors and hatches, and domestic hot water demands are met by two 30 gallon quick recovery dual element water heaters mounted in the equipment space below the VIP cabin.
Crew cabin
The crew cabin is accessed directly from the aft deck and immediately presents a bunk room to port, while to starboard a full-size washer/dryer station accompanies a large head. An emergency escape hatch in the crew head leads up into the aft deck settee for added safety. Forward, a countertop integrates an under-counter freezer and sink, with storage cabinets above, and there is a large storage area aft of the crew bunk room for extended provisioning and gear. Continuing forward from the crew area, the watertight engine room access door with sight glass provides secure, convenient entry.
