Overview
Want to Set Sail? You’ve Found the Perfect Yacht!
This stunning 1986 W.I.B. Crealock Cutter Creala 40 will be fully ready for your adventures after spring commissioning. Meticulously maintained by her previous owners, she is an ideal choice for sailors seeking a comfortable and secure cruising experience. If this resonates with you, schedule a viewing to explore her beauty firsthand.
The Creala 40, crafted by the esteemed W.I.B. Crealock in 1986 and constructed in the Philippines by Yachts International (this vessel is the second of seven), is a true gem. The current owner acquired her from the original owner in 2004 and proudly states, "When people compare my yacht to a Pacific Seacraft 40, I respond, 'No, a Pacific Seacraft 40 is akin to my yacht.'" The PS 40, also designed by Crealock, shares many similarities with the Creala 40, with some modifications made over the years, particularly in the interior layout.
Crealock, a celebrated designer, emphasized the importance of seaworthiness in his designs: "Seaworthiness must be the top priority for a cruising vessel. Aesthetics matter, but if the boat can’t safely deliver cruisers to their destinations, it falls short. While many boats perform well in Southern California, the true test comes in challenging conditions. That's when the differences between vessels become apparent. Beyond safety, a balance must be struck; the yacht should be visually appealing and not sluggish—no one enjoys a slow boat. You can’t just combine a camper with a Ferrari and expect perfection."
The Creala 40 boasts a Motion Comfort rating of 39.34, surpassing every production yacht in its class (including Catalina, Beneteau, Jeanneau, and others). Reach out to the Broker for more insights on Motion Comfort ratings from Ted Brewer, the creator of this category.

Detailed Description
Section name
This yacht offers exceptional accommodations with two private staterooms, a U-shaped dinette with an opposing settee, a generous U-shaped galley, and a head with a stall shower. The master stateroom is located forward and features a Pullman-style berth and seat, with extensive and easily accessible storage throughout the boat. The interior woodwork is crafted from solid teak with a varnish finish, adding a touch of elegance. The main cabin's dinette settee conveniently converts into a double berth, providing additional sleeping space.
In the galley, you'll find a Hillerange LP stove/oven with three burners, a propane sensor installed in 2010, a large icebox with top and side access, and a double stainless steel sink, making meal preparation a breeze.
The yacht's sails and rigging are impressive, with a main sail from 2005, equipped with new lazy jacks and a new Tides Marine system, both added in 2023. The jib, cut like a yankee, was updated in 2014 and is mounted on a new roller furler installed in 2023. The staysail, also from 2005, benefits from a new roller furler, while the flasher, a cruising spinnaker, and a 130% genoa from 2005 complete the sail inventory. All standing and running rigging were replaced in 2023, ensuring optimal performance. The yacht is equipped with Barient and Lewmar winches, a Hydrovane self-steering windvane, and jack line attachments and straps for added safety.
The electrical and electronics systems are robust, featuring a Newmar battery charger from 2009, three Group 31 AGM batteries for the house, and a Group 27 AGM battery for engine start, installed in 2014. A LinkPro Battery Monitor from 2009, 30-amp shore power, and Lite-Nav LED lights enhance the electrical setup. The electronics include an ICOM M602 VHF-FM radio, AIS Class B Vesper Marine WMX850, RAYNAV 300 SDGPS, Raymarine ST60 Graphic Display, Furuno Marine Radar Model 1715, and ST 60 depth and wind instruments.
The engine is a Yanmar diesel 4-cylinder, 57 hp model 4JH57, installed in 2015. Additional mechanical features include a tank tender for monitoring water, fuel, and black tanks, a high water bilge alarm, seven 12-volt fans, a galley foot pump, a new holding tank, and a Raritan head pump assembly.
On deck, the yacht boasts a hand-laid deck with marine plywood coring, molded-in non-skid on cabin tops, and teak bedded in Thiokol on side and foredecks. There are 14 bronze opening ports, Bowmar deck hatches, and new solar vents installed in 2023. The ground tackle includes a manual windlass, anchor bridle, dual anchor rollers, and a selection of anchors with chains and lines. The cockpit features a hot and cold deck shower system, jack line, padeyes, straps, an electric signal horn, and comfortable cockpit cushions.
Additional features include a winter cover by Thurston, a Dickinson Antarctic diesel heater, a Winslow 6ULO life raft with certification valid until December 2025, an EPIRB with a battery expiring in January 2024, a helmsman's awning, a cockpit cover, a bo'sun's chair, a stainless steel swim ladder, and various fenders.
