Detailed Description

Overview

Risk & Reward is a custom 120-foot Pilothouse crafted with great care by Crescent Custom Yachts in Vancouver, Canada. The builder remains very much in business, offering new builds across several models and dedicated support for earlier vessels like Risk & Reward. Conceived by Jack Sarin—renowned for timeless styling, seakeeping ability, and fast-cruise stability—she cruises comfortably at 17 knots and reaches a maximum speed of 21 knots. With three owners to date, each has given her the attentive care she deserves, and her at-rest (zero) stabilization and low hours on machinery further underscore her poise and readiness at sea.

Inside, the original vision by interior designer Robin Rose delivers a wonderful flow, beautiful raised-panel mahogany, and an excellent selection of stonework throughout. The second and present owners executed major interior upgrades that include all furnishings, soft goods, carpeting, motorized linen salon shades, electric motion-detecting salon entry doors for convenience, and a state-of-the-art audio/visual system for your entertainment. Her spacious layout provides four staterooms plus a gym, and she is extremely well maintained and ready to cruise. A complete list of these upgrades is found within the listing specification.

Walkthrough

Risk & Reward welcomes you aboard from multiple entry points, including boarding ladders on either side amidships and, most commonly, through the double electric doors on the aft deck. Inside, a light and airy salon unfolds, its soft neutral fabrics complemented by warm raised mahogany cabinetry. To port, a large settee pairs with an armchair and coffee table, while to starboard two armchairs—one with an ottoman—create an inviting conversation area. Forward, a formal dining table of rich mahogany seats eight in comfortably upholstered chairs. The entire salon and dining area is finished with plush carpeting that has been recently replaced.

From the dining room, a passage forward to starboard leads to the formal foyer with an exterior entrance door and a hanging closet, and beyond to the expansive country galley. This bright, welcoming space features a center island, a U-shaped settee with a table and two chairs, light cabinetry with white countertops, and abundant natural light streaming through large windows. All soft goods have been recently renewed, and the galley is equipped with a full entertainment system including a 32” Samsung TV.

Continuing forward from the galley and down a short staircase, the VIP suite offers a queen berth, a bathroom with shower, a large closet, generous storage, and a complete entertainment setup with a 34” Samsung TV.

Returning to the salon and dining area, a forward passage to port reveals another entrance and the conveniently located day head. From here, stairs descend to a guest foyer, where the master cabin lies forward with a king berth and a starboard settee leading into a large bathroom appointed with two sinks, a spacious shower, a toilet, and a vanity. To port, a substantial walk-in closet provides hanging space, storage, and shoe racks. The master offers abundant storage throughout and an entertainment system with a 42” LG TV. Moving forward along the guest foyer, two additional guest cabins await: one with a twin berth and a Pullman, the other with a queen berth. Both are ensuite with showers, closets, ample storage, entertainment, and TVs.

From the center of the guest foyer, a versatile small cabin serves as a gym, outfitted with a Peloton bike and additional equipment. Opposite the gym, a discreet closet conceals a dedicated laundry area with a Bosch washer and a Miele Pro dryer.

Back in the formal foyer to starboard, steps rise to the well-appointed raised pilothouse, equipped with comprehensive navigation and communications, a helm seat, a compact office area with desk and chair, and a raised settee with a teak table. A few steps above the pilothouse, the spacious bridge deck offers a full helm with two helm seats and an additional helm seat to starboard. On both sides, generous settees with elegant teak tables and teak chairs create an ideal setting for lunch or dinner beneath a custom hardtop that shields guests from sun and weather. The bridge deck is finished with beautiful teak decking. Aft, three steps descend to the sun deck, where a complete bar awaits with an ice maker, fridge, barbecue, and three bar stools. Sun pads flank both sides, with a Jacuzzi positioned forward of the starboard sun pad; its cover converts it into an additional sunning area when desired. Further aft, a large sun lounger with storage beneath is flanked by two jet skis and a crane for launching and retrieval. To starboard, a stairway—protected by a weather cover—leads down to the aft deck.

On the aft deck, a large settee faces a handsome teak table accompanied by three teak chairs. Forward to port, a striking stone-topped bar with teak trim and four swivel bar stools invites casual entertaining. Aft on either side of the settee, wide steps descend to a generous swim platform perfectly suited for water sports and tender operations. From the platform, a watertight door opens to the lazarette, crew area, and engine room; this space is also accessible from the aft deck via a doorway and a stairway below. The crew quarters comprise three cabins and three heads, accommodating six crew.

Among her many attributes, Risk & Reward features covered walk-around decks that ensure safe, comfortable passage from bow to stern. Her 25’7” beam delivers impressive interior volume while preserving these protected side decks. On the bow, a welcoming seating area provides a superb vantage point when arriving at your favorite port.

2022/2023 updates

In 2022/2023 the yacht benefited from a comprehensive program of mechanical, exterior, and interior enhancements. A 1,500-hour service was completed on the main engines, the turbochargers were serviced, and 4,000 hours of service were performed on the generators. Reliability and ride comfort were further elevated with the installation of a redundant hydraulic stabilizer cooling pump, renewed shaft seals, a full bottom job, serviced and aligned running gear, and propellers meticulously balanced and conditioned. Deck and deck-gear upgrades included reinforced cleats for securing the tender, a diesel fuel transfer system to fuel the sport boat, re-caulked teak decks, and the starboard anchor windlass motors fully rebuilt. Storage was improved with reinforced doors and hinges on the bosun locker and on storage lockers throughout, with all locker interiors freshly painted. Inside, major interior updates were carried out, including new carpet in the main salon and forward staterooms, a new large U-shaped sofa, a new main salon coffee table, and a new TV frame in the salon, with the dining room table refinished. The galley gained additional refrigeration within custom cabinetry, all stone countertops were polished and protected with a film coating, and new hot water heaters were installed for the crew and master. Safety and readiness were enhanced with two new 16-person life rafts and a spare parts inventory.

Other updates

An extensive program of enhancements underscores this yacht’s continual care, highlighted by a major interior and exterior refit completed across 2020 and 2022. The 2020 complete interior refit introduced a completely new galley, new pilothouse windows, and new salon glass entry doors in March 2021, followed by a new salon section sofa in February 2021, while the salon, galley, and master blinds were upgraded to electronic remote control in 2020. All windows were treated with VCool in 2020, the flybridge gained a renewed windscreen that year and a new flybridge enclosure, and teak was refreshed with new teak on the flybridge and swim platform in 2020 and decks sanded and sealed in September 2021. Outdoor enjoyment is further elevated by a new aft flybridge deck box that doubles as a sun lounger and a new Pompanette teak dining chair for the aft deck, and the crew quarters received new Miele units together with a new refrigerator and ice machines.

Technology received equal attention: a new A/V system was installed in 2020 and subsequently upgraded with Plex media, Apple integration, and Frame TVs; navigation was modernized with new navigation electronics in 2020 and additional upgrades in 2020 and 2021, complemented by new Garmin screens and a new Garmin electronics package in 2016, a new Furuno 72-mile 25 kW radar with a 6-foot array, a new Siren bilge monitoring system, and a KVH HD7 SAT system new in 2017.

Safety and deck equipment were advanced with new two 16-man life rafts, 2018 jet skis completely serviced in September 2021, and a new davit cradle installed the same month.

Comfort underway and at anchor was transformed by new Zero Speed Stabilizers, including ABT units installed in 2020. Mechanical and systems updates include MTU engine service completed in September 2021 following a W-6 overhaul on her main 2000 HP MTUs in 2016, generator top-end overhauls in 2016, a new Head Hunter sewage treatment plant installed in 2020, a second watermaker installed in 2020, a new AC chiller plant in 2018, and a new ASEA frequency converter in 2018. In 2020 the running gear—shafts, propellers, and bearings—was inspected and tuned, the bow thruster was rebuilt, a new anchor chain was fitted, and 100-Amp receptacles for shore power were added to the bow. A full repaint at Roscioli Marine in 2013 rounds out the pedigree.

Galley/country kitchen and laundry equipment

Generous in scale and centrally positioned near the pilothouse, the country kitchen–style galley invites convivial gatherings around a large dining table for six guests. Storage is abundant, including a four-door pantry with five pullout drawers and two fixed shelves. Seating is equally thoughtful, featuring a six-person upholstered settee with generous dry storage beneath and two Serena and Lilly chairs, and two cabinet doors above the settee reveal two hidden stainless steel Traulsen refrigerator/freezers discreetly positioned behind the settee.

Adjacent to the foyer, the laundry room serves both owner and crew with ease and can readily convert into a workout space to accommodate free weights or a Peloton bike. Directly across from the laundry area, a Bosch washer and a Miele Pro dryer are concealed within a closet, keeping the space impeccably tidy and out of sight.

A large walk-in, cedar-lined hanging closet offers generous capacity with dedicated shoe racks, and abundant drawer and hanging locker space is thoughtfully integrated throughout. The entertainment center features a 42-inch LG TV and a Marantz AV sound system, delivering a complete entertainment experience with streaming music and television. Every surface showcases rich mahogany craftsmanship designed to satisfy the most discerning eye.

The master head is accessed to port through a raised-panel mahogany archway and presents a spacious L-shaped vanity with extensive storage. Matching his-and-hers large under-mount Kohler sinks with Jado fixtures are set into granite countertops, while recessed mirrored medicine cabinets with beveled glass edges complete this refined, highly functional space.

Guest staterooms

Entering from the foyer forward of the master cabin, the port guest stateroom welcomes with a queen-sized berth framed by an upholstered headboard, a beautifully beveled-edge mirror, and mahogany ceiling soffits. Granite-topped nightstands on opposing sides each offer three drawers, while a cedar-lined hanging locker with cedar-lined drawers and a safe ensures refined organization. Both guest cabins feature a complete entertainment system with streaming music and television on a 32” Samsung TV.

The port guest head is appointed with marble flooring framed by a granite border and matching countertops, a full-size Headhunter Royal Flush, a Kohler undermount sink, and a full-size shower finished in matching tiles.

Opposite, the starboard guest stateroom provides two twin-size berths with upholstered headboards and granite-topped nightstands with drawers. A Pullman berth is mounted to the inboard side of the stateroom to accommodate a third guest, and a cedar-lined hanging locker with a safe completes the arrangement.

The starboard guest head features black tiled flooring with a granite border that matches the countertop, a Kohler under-mount sink, a beveled-edge mirrored medicine cabinet, and a Headhunter Royal Flush head. A clear glass shower stall includes both handheld and wall-mounted fixtures and a granite seat for added comfort.

VIP stateroom

Forward of the country kitchen, a private entry reveals a beautiful stairwell with a mahogany fluted, leather-wrapped handrail. Granite floors in the foyer entry lead to raised-panel double mahogany doors that open into the VIP stateroom. Inside, a large island-style centered queen berth is crowned by an arched, beveled mirrored headboard, while two nightstands are accented by reading lights. A walk-in cedar-lined closet, large drawer space on both sides of the stateroom, raised-panel mahogany finishes throughout, and new carpeting elevate the ambience. The entertainment system, with streaming capability on a 32-inch Samsung TV, is set into the aft wall within the storage compartment.

The VIP head with vanity offers four cabinets and two small drawers, complemented by an under-mount Kohler sink with granite countertops and ample storage throughout. A full-size Headhunter Royal Flush head and a full-size steam shower tiled in crema Macrofi tiles with a clear glass door complete the suite.

Dual custom cleats and fairleads are built into the bulwarks to keep the side decks clear, while eight port and eight starboard stainless steel deck lights illuminate the way and seven port and seven starboard freeing ports efficiently evacuate water. Portside hot and cold washdown spigots add practical utility, and frameless 3/8-inch dark-tinted windows with applied mullions preserve a sleek, uninterrupted profile. Access is effortless via two midship hinged doors for side boarding and two midship sliding Freeman entry doors, the starboard side opening into the entry lobby. A portside recessed storage area within the FRP bulwarks secures a Tiderider ladder and houses a 9-step Tracey boarding ladder with dual handrails. Overhead, seven port and seven starboard stainless-steel trimmed lights enhance visibility, complemented by port and starboard overhead cabinets for fishing rod storage, four on each side. Recessed clear Lucite wing doors serve as effective wind breakers, and discreet security cameras monitor both sides of the yacht.

Foredeck

Forward-facing bow seating and a large sun lounger with integrated eight-inch Polyplanar speakers set the tone for relaxation, all framed by fiberglass nonskid decks and a welded stainless-steel bow rail on the bulwarks. Anchoring is managed by two Maxwell 4500 hydraulic windlasses paired with two Maxwell chain locks for the pocket anchors, working in concert with two 395-pound Poole galvanized anchors, each served by 350 feet of 5/8-inch BBB chain, with new chain fitted in 2020. A solenoid-activated freshwater chain and anchor wash system keeps gear pristine, and a Freeman deck hatch provides direct access to the chain locker.

At the bow, two stainless-steel bollard-style bow cleats with fairleads ensure secure line handling, while a stainless-steel bell tower with windlass plug-in controls and two downlights adds both function and polish. Dual gull-wing doors open to a huge bosun’s locker that extends the full beam beneath the sun lounge, housing two Traulsen stainless-steel freezers, a chest-style freezer, and DC lighting. Large stainless-steel anchor striker plates protect the hull sides, and a Kahlenberg three-trumpet air horn announces your arrival with unmistakable authority.

Swim platform

Port and starboard, five teak-trimmed stairs lead up to the aft deck, renewed in 2020, while the integrated fiberglass swim platform is sheathed in teak decking also renewed in 2020. Five stainless-steel hoop rails incorporate storage receptacles for tender boarding, complemented by two pop-up tender cleats and hidden stern cleats with stainless-steel fairleads. Two Freeman hatches open into the rudder room, and two hydraulic Maxwell 2200 warping windlasses with foot switches stand ready for precise line handling. The platform features two stainless sockets for a custom swim ladder, as well as shore power flexibility with one port and two starboard 100-amp 220-volt 3-phase shore cord inlets. Overhead lights from the boat deck illuminate the area, while underwater lights—three aft, one port, and one starboard—were fitted new in 2020. Flush-mount rod holders are thoughtfully positioned, and access to the crew quarters is provided through a Freeman watertight door.

Crew area

The crew quarters present a very large captain’s cabin and two crew cabins, refreshed with newly installed wall coverings, quartzite countertops, and designer indoor/outdoor carpets. The convivial crew common area features a dinette comfortably accommodating three crew members, while the galley is outfitted with a drink fridge, sink, granite countertops, a Magic Chef microwave, and generous cabinet storage. At the forward end, a secondary laundry facility adds convenience with a new Bosch washer/dryer (2020). Aft, two large storage lockers flank a weather-tight Freeman Pantograph door providing direct access to the swim platform.

Set to starboard, the captain’s cabin offers a large queen-size berth with walk-around access and under-berth storage, a full-size hanging locker, and chest drawers. Its private head is appointed with an undermount Kohler sink set in granite countertops, a mirrored medicine cabinet, and a Headhunter Royal Flush toilet.

To port, two mirror-image crew cabins provide over/under bunks, large cedar-lined hanging lockers, and ample drawer space. Each room is equipped with its own entertainment system with streaming music and TV and a bunk area with dedicated reading lights. Both crew heads are private and custom-built, sharing a common shower and featuring granite countertops, Kohler sinks, mirrored medicine cabinets, and Headhunter Royal Flush toilets.

Engine room and mechanical equipment

At the heart of the machinery space, twin MTU 16V2000 TE 90 main engines deliver 2000 HP at 2350 RPM, with engine hours showing Port 2,245 and Starboard 2,222 (Oct 2025) since rebuild. DD655DC gears with a 3:03 to 1 reduction feed four-inch diameter Nitronic 50 high-strength stainless steel prop shafts fitted with Tides Marine dripless shaft seals, driving Byrd Johnson five-blade propellers. Steering precision comes from two 9.3 square foot stainless steel rudders with five-inch stock, while two Vernay muffler systems serve a 14-inch diameter underwater exhaust with a 10-inch diameter bypass, and generator water/gas separators further refine discharge management.

Command and control are supported by a main hydraulic system with two transmission-driven pumps and an electronically driven backup pump, powering the thruster, stabilizer, backup fire/bilge pump, windlass, davit, and stern windlass. ABT Tracstar stabilization at rest ensures zero-speed comfort. Two 21-inch Delta T automatic engine room ventilation systems maintain ideal airflow, and fiberglass sea chests with a Lexan polycarbonate window surrounded by a 1/8-inch stainless steel plate with bleed valves provide robust, serviceable seawater intake. A Kobelt steering system with an ACD/DC dual-pump hydraulic system adds dependable redundancy.

Fuel handling is refined by CCY custom backlit fuel site gauges and a CCY custom fuel transfer manifold, paired with a Facet 90 GPM fuel coalescer and a Flomax 8 220-volt fuel transfer pump. Durable finishes include powder-coated aluminum diamond plate over aluminum framing with a blue carpet overlay, while six Rule 3700 GPH bilge pumps stand vigilant. Oberdorfer ½ HP oil transfer pumps—one clean and one waste with meters—operate through a manifold for the oil change system with quick disconnect fittings, including a sludge tank.

Self-sufficiency is assured by a 3800 gallon per day watermaker custom-built by Flow Marine Systems, complemented by reverse osmosis by Headhunter and an Ultra Tech water filtration system. A household air compressor in the engine room supplies outlets in the engine room, the foredeck bosun’s locker, and the flybridge, with a 10-gallon tank on the flybridge for the air horns.

Fire safety is comprehensive, with an FM-200 fire suppression system carrying a 170 lb. agent weight and a fire pump system comprising one MP1 5HP electric and one MP1 5HP hydraulic unit with three hydrants. This CCY custom-designated system employs both an AC motor-driven pump and a hydraulically driven pump, and flow chart controls make it possible to pump from bilge to overboard, bilge to fire system, overboard to a fire station, bilge to overboard, and overboard to fire system simultaneously. Oversight is further enhanced by a Microm FA-200-E fire alarm system.

Climate control is delivered by an air conditioning system custom-built by Flow Marine Systems, configured three-phase 208 volt with three 60,000 BTU compressors, nineteen air handlers, and a 200 CFM make-up air handler providing fresh air (located in salon). “Soft starts” for AC compressors ensure smooth, low-impact operation.

Waste and utility systems include a Headhunter Tidal Wave HMX sewage treatment system, a Bosworth 110V waste pump at 20 GPM, two Rule 3700 GPM pumps for the grey water system, and two Rule 3700 GPM pumps for the aft crew sump. Domestic convenience is assured by a Hayden super vacuum central vacuum system with four outlets and two Headhunter Mach 5 - 20 GPM house outlet pumps.

System intelligence and visibility are delivered by a CCY/Nostek custom touchscreen tank & ship’s systems monitoring system and an Elbex CCTV with pan, tilt & zoom. The workspace is completed by a five-drawer stainless steel craftsman tool chest and a full suite of analog pressure gauges monitoring the main hydraulic system, stabilizer hydraulic system, steering hydraulic system, fuel transfer pump pressure, freshwater system pressure, chilled water system pressure, and air pressurized fire line pressure.

Tankage

Engineered for extended range and ease of maintenance, the yacht carries 7,000 gallons of diesel distributed among five aluminum tanks, complemented by a 60-gallon aluminum gasoline tank. Clean oil reserves total 100 gallons in aluminum, matched by 100 gallons of aluminum waste-oil storage, while a dedicated 10-gallon aluminum hydraulic-oil tank supports reliable system operation. Freshwater provision is assured by a robust 1,000-gallon stainless-steel tank, and onboard wastewater is handled by a 350-gallon FRP integral holding tank plumbed to the Headhunter waste treatment system.

Electrical system

The yacht’s electrical architecture is anchored by a 120/208 Volt AC system at 60 Hz, complemented by two 36 KVA ASEA shore power systems that are 170V–520V single- or three-phase capable and a seamless transfer system between generators and shore power. Primary generation is delivered by two 55 KW Northern Lights generators in sound shields, with generator hours since rebuild noted as port 4,934 and starboard 4,939 (Oct 2025). Shore connectivity is versatile, with two port and two starboard 100-amp three-phase Hubbell shore power inlets, along with two bow 100-amp three-phase Hubbell shore power inlets. Energy storage is robust, featuring six 12-Volt Lifeline (24V) 8 D batteries for generators and house batteries, four 8D engine start batteries new in 2018 with a battery parallel system, and a dedicated 12-Volt Group 27 battery for the emergency radio. Charging and power conversion are handled by two Magnum inverter/chargers N15 4024 for the house batteries, a Start power 10i charger for the emergency radio, and a Phase 3 20-amp battery charger, while a DC emergency lighting system provides illumination throughout. Ventilation efficiency is enhanced by two Fuji soft starts for the fans. Control and protection are equally comprehensive, with four Perko battery shutoff switches and a dedicated inverter panel with eight breakers, an engine room DC panel with twenty-four breaker-protected circuits, an engine room DC panel with a digital voltmeter and three digital amp meters, and an engine room AC panel with ten 220-Volt breaker-protected circuits serving sub-panels and primary systems, all complemented by a Moeller touch screen ship’s system/alarm panel in the engine room and three digital power management multi-digital readouts.

Tender

A 39-foot tender is available for purchase separately, offering a versatile companion for effortless shore transfers and leisurely day excursions while enhancing the overall onboard experience.
