Overview
Built for the leaderboard and refined for bluewater adventures, this Tournament Express has been meticulously modernized to deliver exhilarating performance with uncompromising offshore capability. Born on Lake Erie as a freshwater boat with indoor winter layups, it has spent the past three winters lift-kept in Florida and benefitted from a sweeping 2025 refit and repower that elevates it into a standout express sportfish and performance fishing yacht.
Triple 2022 Mercury 450R outboards with roughly 310 hours provide thrilling pace and confident range, returning an efficient 44 mph economy cruise at 3850 RPM at about 1 MPG, and a peak speed of 76 mph. A thoughtfully upgraded fuel system brings total capacity to 460 gallons across a 300-gallon main and 160-gallon reserve, ideal for serious offshore fishing, tournament circuits, and long-range cruising in true bluewater conditions.
The 2025 overhaul encompassed new rigging, power steering, controls, fuel lines, water separators, and tank switch valves, while the electronics suite was completely reimagined for a modern center-console-style helm experience. Twin 16" Simrad NSO EVO3S displays pair with a Simrad engine readout, open-array radar, down- and side-scan sonar, autopilot with pump, and an integrated Sionyx night vision system, all set into a custom dash with Bluewater LED halo switching for a streamlined, contemporary layout.
Comfort and fishability were equally advanced, courtesy of bespoke Nautical Ventures seating consoles featuring convertible two- to three-person forward and aft-facing positions, flip-up bolsters, tackle drawers, and abundant storage. Fresh SeaDek underfoot, upgraded LED lighting at the cockpit and console, and Lumitec SeaBlazeX2 underwater lights create an inviting ambiance, while an Apollo Bluetooth head drives a premium JL Audio 10-speaker, amplifier-powered sound system. The result is a highly customized offshore platform that blends tournament pedigree, high-speed performance, and state-of-the-art marine electronics with the assurance of a recent, comprehensive refit. Turn-key and poised for its next owner.
Detailed Description
2009 Fountain 38' CC TE
Tournament-ready performance meets fully modernized offshore capability in this exceptionally updated Tournament Express, a second-owner vessel purchased in 2017 that spent most of its life in Lake Erie freshwater with indoor winter storage, then the last three winters lift-kept in Florida. An extensive 2025 refit and repower transformed this platform, preserving the pedigree while elevating every system for reliability, speed, and comfort.
Power comes from triple 2022 Mercury 450R outboards showing approximately 310 current hours, delivering a confident 44 mph economy cruise at 3850 RPM at roughly 1 MPG and a top speed of 76 mph. An upgraded fuel system provides 460 gallons total capacity with a 300-gallon main and 160-gallon reserve, ideal for serious offshore fishing, tournament duty, or long-range cruising. The repower was completed during the 2025 refit with 220 hours at completion and approximately 310 hours currently.
The 2025 overhaul was comprehensive, featuring all-new rigging, power steering, controls, fuel lines, water separators, and tank switch valves, plus a fresh wrap and striping. A custom-installed Lewmar windlass anchor with remote and dash control, a new bow cabin deck hatch, and four new AGM batteries were added alongside new shore power with 110 outlets and a battery charger. Fresh and raw water flush access, new livewell pumps, and a custom windshield wiper with dash control further enhance practicality and reliability.
Electronics were completely modernized with dual 16-inch Simrad NSO EVO3S displays, a Simrad engine display, Simrad open-array radar, Simrad down- and side-scan sonar, and a Simrad autopilot with pump, all integrated with a Sionyx night vision system. A custom dash with Bluewater LED halo-lighted switching delivers a clean, contemporary helm presentation. Communications and safety are covered by a VHF radio and an ACR emergency satellite EPIRB. Entertainment is equally impressive, with a new Apollo Bluetooth audio streaming head unit driving a premium JL Audio ten-speaker stereo system with amplifiers, while upgraded LED cockpit and console lighting and Lumitec SeaBlazeX2 underwater lights set the mood dockside and offshore.
Comfort and fishability received the same attention. Custom seating consoles from Nautical Ventures provide convertible two- to three-person forward- and aft-facing seating with flip-up bolsters, tackle drawers, and abundant storage. New SeaDek decking softens every step, and the Tournament Express layout features a bow V-berth with cushions and storage and a center console head. Purpose-built hardware includes T-top outriggers and rod holders, custom gunwale rod holder cleats, and an Armstrong transom ladder, all supported by a custom triple-axle aluminum trailer for effortless transport.
This highly customized, extensively upgraded offshore platform harmonizes tournament capability, high-speed performance, and cutting-edge electronics with the confidence of a recent, thorough refit. Turn-key and ready for its next owner.
