Major refit & improvements - Ocean Pacific

In 2019, Ocean Pacific was hauled at Shelter Island Shipyard, Richmond, BC, where a hydraulic crane system was installed, including drum winches, sheaves, cables, and hydraulics; a new watermaker was added; fresh bottom paint and Prop Speed were applied; and a new dive compressor was fitted.

In 2020, she acquired and commissioned a custom 32’ Icon center console, with custom chocks designed and installed for the tender; lifting straps fitted and crane testing completed; UltraDeck flooring laid throughout the tender; and Gemlux rod holders and outriggers added to the center console.

Through 2021–2022, a major structural refit began as interior flooring was removed to access forward structural bulkheads; systems throughout the bilge areas were taken out; the original 1,600-gallon aluminum freshwater tank was removed and a new fiberglass freshwater tank integrated into the hull was constructed; the gray water tank was removed; deteriorated bulkheads were replaced; wiring and plumbing throughout the vessel were removed and replaced; exterior hose pipes and railings were removed and rebuilt; bulkheads underwent extensive fiberglass reconstruction; and bilges and interior structural spaces were refinished.

In 2022–2023, the engine room rebuild took center stage as the space was completely stripped; hydraulic, fuel, plumbing, and electrical systems were removed; both main engines were lifted for structural repairs; old fiberglass engine beds and tabbing were taken out; steel I-beams were installed for engine support during reconstruction; engine beds were reinforced with extensive fiberglass laminates; additional stringers and structural supports were added; the original generator was removed; a new John Deere 55kW generator was installed; new water pumps, plumbing, and bilge systems were installed; the aft chock and bait tanks were removed; teak cockpit decking was repaired; engine room fiberglass was repaired and the engines reinstalled; the aluminum superstructure and above-waterline through-hulls were repaired; insulation was added inside the tender chock; the tender chock was rebedded; and the hull windows were painted.

Spanning 2023–2024, mechanical and interior upgrades included new wiring from the engine room to the wheelhouse; stateroom furniture and accommodations installed; interior woodwork completely refinished; the engine room fully painted; hydraulic systems installed; an entirely new steering system fitted; engines and oil tanks painted; new battery boxes built; shore power and generator transfer systems rebuilt; the aft aluminum freshwater tank removed and all four surrounding bulkheads fiberglassed; a new 500-gallon aluminum fuel day tank installed; the salon floor fiberglassed; new Corian salon countertops installed; new stainless-steel main engine exhaust systems fabricated; both main engine turbochargers rebuilt; teak margin boards refinished; a new helm chair installed; the wheelhouse door teak refinished; a new port-side John Deere generator with new exhaust installed; mast wiring reorganized; areas beneath the bait tanks fiberglassed and new bait tanks installed; new engine start/stop control boxes built; a new chest freezer installed; new refrigerators and an upright freezer installed; all new electronics installed in the wheelhouse and flybridge; an IsoBoost transformer installed in the engine room; new battery chargers installed; and all new toilets, a blackwater system, and a fiberglass holding tank installed.

In 2024–2025, new wiring for both main engines was completed and the main engines were commissioned and started; watermakers were relocated and installed; MMC electrical boxes were completed; in April 2024 the vessel returned to service and the autopilot was calibrated; and during the May–July 2024 shipyard period (Anacortes, Washington), with complete yard records and invoices available, the bottom was pressure washed and new bottom paint applied, propellers were balanced, Prop Speed was applied to propellers, shafts, and the bow thruster, all new zincs were installed, the bow thruster was serviced and rebedded, rudders were pulled and new seals installed, shaft bearing surfaces were ceramic-coated, new Tides Marine shaft seals were installed, the waterline was painted, bait tanks, the flybridge, chocks, and the aluminum house were painted, every through-hull was replaced with TruDesign through-hulls, old transducers were removed and two new transducers installed, stabilizer housings were removed and rebuilt with solid fiberglass before new stabilizer housings were installed, the keel was reinforced with additional fiberglass, all windows were polished and window frames resealed, the life raft was recertified, and new canvas was installed throughout the vessel.

The 2025–2026 interior refresh brought new carpet throughout, refinished exterior brightwork, 3M DI-NOC architectural finishes, new bar stools, new engine room ceiling panels, numerous interior cosmetic upgrades and detailing, and a completed full vessel survey.

From 2026 to present, new starter batteries have been installed, the Furuno network and display wiring have been upgraded, and ongoing system refinements and preventative maintenance have continued.

Propulsion

Power comes from two Cummins K19 commercial diesel engines, each delivering 540 HP, seamlessly matched to Twin Disc transmissions and governed by Micro Command electronic controls for precise, confident command. Tank information

Engineered for range and reliability, the vessel’s tankage is thoughtfully arranged to balance capacity and performance. Fuel storage is divided between four main fuel tanks providing 7,000 US gallons (26,498 L) and one day/aft fuel tank adding 500 US gallons (1,892 L), delivering a total fuel capacity of 7,500 US gallons (28,390 L). Fresh water is contained in an integral FRP tank with a capacity of 1,600 US gallons (6,056 L). Black water is managed by a 200 US gallon FRP tank molded into the hull. For serious anglers, the live bait/fish tanks comprise two tanks of 300 US gallons each, yielding a total live bait capacity of 600 US gallons.
