Overview

TURIYA is a superb Krogen 42-foot full-displacement trawler, delivering indulgent comfort and remarkable seakeeping. Effortlessly managed by a voyaging couple, she boasts hydraulic stabilizers, dual-zone air-conditioning, generous refrigeration, abundant freshwater, and a RIB for relaxed cruising.

Detailed Description

Overview

TURIYA is the Krogen 42' everyone says they are searching for: a late-model, stabilized, beautifully kept example with the very upgrades you would have chosen—under $350K. In the cruising community, that is a tiny target, yet here she is, and she is lovely, fresh from an owner who poured heart and care into bringing her thoroughly up to date. Note the dates on many of the items below.

A true full-displacement trawler, Turiya delivers efficiency, economy, excellent sea-keeping, and inviting accommodations that make extended time aboard a genuine pleasure. Her active hydraulic fin stabilizers broaden your weather window and expand your comfortable range, putting dream destinations easily within reach.

When you arrive, you will enjoy all the comforts of home, including two-zone air conditioning, ample refrigeration and freezer capacity, abundant fresh water, and an aluminum RIB with outboard for effortless exploring—cruising without compromise, no roughing it.

TURIYA was built with fiberglass decks—not teak—an additional $20,000 option at the time, eliminating soft decks and the risk of water leaking onto the tanks. The decks and house were all painted with AwlGrip in (2024), the hull received AwlGrip in (2026), and she benefited from fresh bottom paint in (2026). Brightwork and exterior teak were refreshed with Cetol Natural Teak for one-third the maintenance of traditional varnish (2026). For poise underway, she boasts upgraded Wesmar Digital DPS 5000 stabilizers with 3 axis gyro, 6 sq/ft fins, and direct shaft pressure (2026). Reliable onboard power comes from a Phasor generator (2015), supported by new Lifeline batteries (2024), a Victron 3kw inverter with boost features (2024), and a Tru-Charge 40amp charger (2024). Dockside and close-quarters confidence is enhanced by a SideShift stern thruster with wireless remote for bow and stern (2026) complemented by a SidePower bow thruster with remote. Climate control is assured by new CruisAir two 16,000 BTU reverse cycle units with heat bars and SMXII digital controls installed in 2016 and (2021), both serviced (2026). The mast was thoughtfully modified with a 12v 3,500 tender winch featuring wireless remote control (2026), and the boom was extended 40" to streamline tender launch and retrieval over the stern (2026). Audible presence and visibility are elevated with Kahlenberg triple trumpet air horns with compressor and tank (2026) and a new high power search light (2026).

Salon

The salon welcomes with new recliners installed in 2026, complemented by a cabinet table positioned between them that opens to reveal hollow stowage for neatly organized essentials. A dining table with a drop-leaf extension transitions effortlessly from casual lounging to elegant meals, while new dimmable sconce lights, also added in 2026, allow you to tailor the ambiance with ease. Safety is seamlessly integrated with a new CO2/smoke detector fitted in 2026, providing discreet protection without compromising the room’s refined aesthetic.

Galley/helm/pilothouse

Thoughtfully equipped and recently refreshed, this integrated space blends smart upgrades with trusted appliances. New propane tanks (2025) support efficient cooking, while a Subzero refrigerator and freezer (2015) are complemented by a new freezer condenser fan and refrigerant (2026) to keep provisions perfectly chilled. A Splendide combination washer dryer (2015), enhanced with a new water pump (2026), streamlines onboard living. Fresh, great‑tasting water is delivered via a carbon block water filter at the galley sink (2026), and a GE 1,000-watt microwave ensures quick, reliable heating. Practicality continues with a dedicated garbage compartment featuring a through-counter drop and a starboard side deck retrieval door, and the area is finished with conveniently placed GFI outlets (2026) for safe, modern power access.

Entertainment equipment

An LCD TV in the saloon, seamlessly integrated with a Starlink satellite connection, anchors the onboard entertainment experience, while a DVD player paired with speakers throughout the boat delivers immersive sound in every space. A dedicated Starlink receiver is already in place and fully wired (2026), ensuring immediate, reliable connectivity.

Owner stateroom

Anchoring the suite is a centerline queen that raises for stowage beneath, maximizing space and convenience. Wardrobe needs are met by large hanging lockers, an additional chest, and drawers under the berth. Abundant light and ventilation flow through a large overhead hatch with screens and large opening ports, while a new CO2/Smoke Detector (2026) adds reassuring safety.

Guest stateroom

A versatile office-and-guest combination, this stateroom transforms effortlessly from work to repose, featuring an expanding settee that converts to a double berth and a Pullman drop-down berth to accommodate an additional guest or secure luggage. A dedicated office and navigation desk supports planning and productivity, while a large hanging locker complemented by shelf stowage keeps belongings impeccably organized. Opening ports invite fresh ventilation throughout, and safety is enhanced by a new CO2/smoke detector installed in 2026.

Head/bath

The head is equipped with a Raritan “Purasan” electric waste treatment system, a USCG Type 1 approved solution that permits compliant discharge in most U.S. navigable inland waters within three miles, minimizing reliance on the holding tank. A tempered glass door encloses the shower, which includes comfortable seating, and GFI outlets (2026) add safety and convenience.

Pilothouse/helm

Thoughtfully outfitted for comfort and control, the pilothouse features new wipers (2026) and new Sirocco fans (2026) to keep sightlines clear and airflow optimized. A moveable captain’s chair at the helm allows precise positioning for long watches, while the lounge/settee converts to a double berth for overnight passages. Robust Diamond Seaglaze “Open Ocean” rated aluminium pilothouse “dutch” doors (2015) provide secure access and enduring durability.

Communication/navigation equipment

Command comes effortlessly with a Ritchie 8-inch illuminated “Power Damp” compass at the helm, paired to a Garmin 8610 GPS chartplotter and HD 24-inch radome (2021) for crisp, real-time situational awareness. Communications are robust and redundant, led by ICOM VHF 504A radios with international MMSI and hailer, with stations at the Pilot House, Flybridge and Master Stateroom, plus an intercom to the Stateroom, while a Retivis RM40 handheld VHF with GPS and DSC (2026) adds portable versatility. Confident tracking and control are assured by the Autohelm ST7000 autopilot and a Garmin 800 AIS (2026), complemented by a Garmin GNI 20 depth sounder display driven by a Garmin Intelligent Transducer (2026). High-speed connectivity arrives via a Starlink Standard 4 satellite antenna (2026), and close-quarters maneuvering is enhanced by a stern-view wireless camera with a 12-inch Pilothouse display (2026). For traditional navigation and voyage planning, the Navigation Rules Handbook, ICW guide and chart books, and plotting tools are all aboard.

Flybridge

A smart mast-lowering mechanism reduces the air draft by eight feet, unlocking passage beneath lower bridges and opening more routes on inland waterways.

Aft deck

The expansive aft cockpit is complemented by an upper deck that extends all the way to the aft rail, creating a sheltered space for all-weather enjoyment. A transom door provides easy access to the swim platform, while a ladder leads up to the flybridge for seamless movement between levels. Beneath the deck, a large lazarette offers generous storage along with access to the steering mechanism and emergency tiller. A prior “soft spot” in the aft deck near the port/rear scupper was repaired in 2026: the wood marine-ply underdecking was removed, the structure reinforced, then epoxied and sealed.

Deck equipment

An Ideal windlass manages 360 feet of BBB chain paired with a Delta 88 lb anchor, complemented by 600 feet of nylon three-strand rode with 50 feet of three-quarter chain and a Fortress FX-55 for versatile anchoring options. Bow and aft deck water spigots were replaced in 2025 to ensure reliable service. Marquip port and starboard folding boarding stairs provide convenient access, while Sunbrella covers protect the dinghy, flybridge helm, foredeck settee, and storage lockers.

Swim platform

A fiberglass bolt-on platform provides effortless access to the water or a tender, complemented by a folding, retractable swim ladder for smooth and secure reboarding.

Engine room

Expansive and meticulously arranged, the engine room benefits from the yacht’s wide beam and single-engine configuration, creating exceptional working space with batteries and systems fully accessible for effortless service. Propulsion comes from a Perkins M135 – 6.354 naturally aspirated engine showing 3,400 hours, while ship’s power is supported by a Phasor 8 kW genset, new in 2015, with 220 hours.

Mechanical equipment

In 2026, the yacht benefited from a comprehensive program of mechanical care: the engines received a full service with new injectors, hoses, thermostats, fresh coolant, replacement zincs, and a complete radiator service with a new cap; the engine and genset impellers were renewed; all zincs for the stabilizers, intercooler, and generator were replaced; and the electrolysis bonding system was thoroughly inspected and repaired.

Electrical equipment

The yacht benefits from an upgraded electrical system featuring a new Victron 3000w inverter (2024) and a new 120Amp Balmar alternator with smart regulator (2024), delivering confident power management underway and at anchor. Charging capability is further strengthened by three new Victron B2B chargers dedicated to the Bow Thruster, Stern Thruster and Starting Batteries, ensuring swift, reliable replenishment of essential banks. Daily comfort and safety are elevated with new GFI outlets in the galley and head (2026), while the ambiance has been transformed with all cabin lighting converted to LEDs (2026) and complemented by new sconce lighting fixtures (2026) that lend a warm, contemporary glow.

Safety equipment

Thoughtfully outfitted to safeguard every passage, the yacht carries a Para-Tech PTS emergency sea anchor with a 24-foot diameter. Readiness continues with a Sirius Signal SB-3L SOS Dry Bag Kit featuring non-expiring electronic flares. Fire protection includes fire extinguishers in the pilothouse and on the decks (2025), complemented by new smoke and CO2 detectors for all staterooms and the saloon/galley (2026).

Tenders and toys

An AB Alumina 11.5 aluminum-hull RIB is powered by a 2006 Tohatsu 18 hp electric-start four-stroke outboard and is complemented by a new solar battery charger for the tender added in 2026.
