Overview

The Krogen 50' Open introduces a fresh layout to the Krogen line, with a main deck that is nearly single level to create an inviting sense of openness. With the pilothouse, galley, and saloon essentially on the same plane, natural light and sightlines flow in from every direction, delivering a bright and open interior that offers views throughout the saloon, galley, and pilothouse. The galley is impressively large and fitted with true household appliances, including an 86-inch Sub-Zero refrigerator and a Wolf professional stove and oven. When desired, a powered wall rises at the touch of a button to separate the pilothouse from the galley and saloon; Sophia Rose features a 55-inch Samsung TV mounted on this wall, easily seen from anywhere in the saloon, galley, and even from the “back porch” area.

Descend from the pilothouse to discover a generous midship master stateroom with a wonderfully large ensuite head that boasts a huge shower and double sinks, while a beautiful VIP queen stateroom forward also offers an ensuite bathroom. From the master suite, a watertight door leads into a tremendous, true walk-in engine room with seven feet of height—there is no need to duck your head—and access is available from either the aft deck or the master stateroom.

Underway, hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, stabilizers, and a davit contribute to confident handling, while three keels provide true underwater running gear protection and deliver wonderful directional stability when cruising. Construction

Crafted from high‑grade female tooling, the hull and superstructure are engineered for strength, precision, and a flawless finish. The hull is laid up with USA‑made Cook® gel coat and hand‑laid Knytex®, combined with mat and Corecell® above the waterline, while a solid fiberglass laminate is employed below the waterline for uncompromising durability. Blister‑resistant vinylester resin is used in the first laminates, and the stem and stern bottom areas are further reinforced with aramid fiber/FRP for added impact resistance and structural integrity. The superstructure is built with Knytex®, mat, Corecell® cores, and surface mats to reduce print‑through, ensuring a refined exterior.

Underfoot, the aft and side decks are finished in teak, while the boat deck and foredecks feature a GripTex® non‑skid surface for confident footing in all conditions. The bulwarks present molded plank lines with a gelcoat finish, marrying classic detailing with low‑maintenance practicality. Polyurethane marine sealants are employed at the hull‑to‑deck joint, boat deck joints, and exterior fittings to maintain a watertight, rattle‑free build, while marine‑grade plywood bulkheads and molded fiberglass hat‑section stringers contribute robust longitudinal and transverse stiffness throughout the hull.

Inside, the craftsmanship continues with handcrafted solid cherry joinery complemented by cherry veneers, elevating the interior with warmth, depth, and enduring yacht‑grade elegance.

Aft deck

Spacious and completely covered by the boat deck, the aft deck provides excellent protection from sun and rain, creating an inviting place to settle in and watch the world glide past. A large aft door leads down to the swim platform, where the shore power connection is served by a Glendinning Cablemaster remote system with eighty-five feet of cable, while three stern staples are mounted on the platform to enhance safety and security for those boarding or working aft. The aft deck also features two side doors for convenient dock access, along with both a full screen enclosure and a full polycarbonate enclosure to keep the weather out. A fiberglass-and-glass door on the starboard side opens to the covered side deck, and a freshwater washdown is thoughtfully positioned on the aft deck. A lazarette hatch leads to a watertight door into the engine room, complemented by a larger watertight door located in the master stateroom.

Saloon

Ascend two small steps and pass through a large stainless-steel-framed glass rolling door into a saloon whose openness is immediately apparent, thanks to expansive windows all around and uninterrupted sightlines through the galley and pilothouse to the forward windows. To port, a comfortable L-shaped Ultraleather® settee provides generous storage beneath and readily converts into an additional berth when needed, while to starboard a dedicated area accommodates two household chairs. A movable hi-lo cherry table expands to twice its size, creating dining for six to eight people with the addition of extra chairs. For entertainment, a 55-inch Samsung TV rises on a lift that subtly separates the galley and saloon from the pilothouse, and custom electric blinds throughout the saloon deliver privacy and shade at the push of a button.

Galley

Positioned just forward of the saloon, the galley showcases household appliances and refined finishes, including quartz counters, a Wolf commercial stove and oven, a GE dishwasher, and a Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer. Above the Wolf range, a low-profile Wolf commercial hood provides ventilation and integrated lighting, while a custom-designed glass backsplash adds a tailored touch. On either side of the Wolf stove, two motorized lifts access extra storage that serves as an appliance garage or under-counter stowage. The sink is a custom design, complemented by a flat knife block set into the counter to the left of the basin. Across from the galley stands the eighty-six-inch Sub-Zero fridge, and to the right a lower cabinet houses a small wine fridge with rack storage for additional bottles. Abundant undercounter space with lockers and multiple drawers is augmented by further storage forward of the Sub-Zero on the starboard side of the cabin. A bulkhead forward of the galley separates the galley and saloon from the pilothouse, and at the push of a button this wall lifts; a fifty-five-inch Samsung TV is mounted on it, and when retracted the space becomes remarkably open—an inspiration for the boat’s model name—enhanced further by a small removable cherry panel to the left of the TV.

Master stateroom and ensuite head

Positioned midship, the master stateroom presents a household Queen bed to port, with the ensuite head conveniently to starboard. Thoughtful storage is provided beneath the bed and all around behind locker doors, while ventilation is superb thanks to two huge opening portholes over the bed. Comfort is enhanced by two wall LED lights mounted beside the bed, casting a warm, focused glow.

The master head is appointed with two vessel sinks, backlit mirrors, and elegant quartz counters. A huge molded fiberglass shower features a frameless tempered glass door, a molded bench seat, and a large opening porthole, complemented by another large porthole over the counter within the head itself. A household-size Dometic MasterFlush toilet with status panel is discreetly located behind the head door, completing a refined and highly functional suite.

VIP guest stateroom and ensuite head

The forward VIP guest stateroom welcomes you with a household-sized queen bed with storage beneath, complemented by a large hanging locker to keep extended-cruise wardrobes neatly organized. Abundant natural light and fresh air flow through four opening stainless ports and two large overhead hatches fitted with Oceanaire Skyscreens and shades, while two wall-mounted LED lights beside the bed provide warm, targeted illumination for evening relaxation. Pilothouse

The pilothouse is undeniably the place to be underway, anchored by a large cherry electronics console that places every system at the captain’s fingertips. At the helm, a substantial cherry wheel complements a LIebroc pedestal helm chair with a fold-up bolster, ensuring ideal comfort and sightlines while cruising. Just aft, a generous L-shaped Ultraleather settee invites guests to settle in, its table expanding to twice its size for dining or planning, and the settee itself pulling out to create a true double berth. Storage abounds on either side of the helm, with additional capacious lockers beneath the settee to keep the space impeccably organized. An internal staircase with a refined banister leads to the flybridge, and the base of the staircase lifts to reveal even more storage. Confident course-keeping is assured by the Garmin GHP Reactor 40 autopilot with Shadow Drive and SmartPump, supported by a Garmin GMX 54 SiriusXM marine weather receiver and a Garmin GMl 20 color digital display. Additional depth, speed, and temperature data flow through an NMEA 2000 bronze smart transducer. Communication remains seamless through a Garmin VHF 210 DSC VHF radio with a 20-watt hailer and a Garmin GHS 11 remote VHF microphone in the pilothouse. Engine room and machinery

Accessed through a large watertight door in the master stateroom and a smaller watertight door from the lazarette, the engine room offers seven feet of headroom for effortless serviceability. Welded aluminum fuel tanks hold 1,240 gallons and feature large inspection ports and manual sight-tube gauges. Power is provided by two John Deere 4045TFM85 engines rated at 125 hp, M2 Tier III (540 hours), driving through two ZF Marine gears with oil coolers. Aquamet 22 two-inch shafts with Spurs line cutters turn Hung Shen four-blade bronze propellers, while Tides dripless shaft seals maintain dry, reliable operation. A Dockmate wireless remote for the engines enhances close-quarters control, complemented by ABT-TRAC Digital hydraulic active fin stabilizers and ABT Hydraulic fifteen hp bow and fifteen hp stern thrusters for confident handling. Electrical generation and charging are delivered by a Northern Lights 12 kW generator with PTO for hydraulics (675 hours) and a Magnum inverter/charger, supported by 190-amp alternators along with Balmar 190-amp alternators with external regulators. The house bank comprises eight Lifeline AGM six-volt, 400 Ah batteries, with additional Lifeline AGM starting batteries dedicated to the engines and generator. A Maxwell hydraulic VWC 2500 windlass manages ground tackle, while a Reverso fuel polishing system and a Reverso oil change system plumbed to both engines, transmissions, and generator streamline maintenance. Flybridge and decks

Ascending the staircase from the pilothouse brings you to a commanding flybridge where a large dash accommodates extensive electronics and a single helm chair, delivering a superb view over the foredeck as well as an unobstructed 360-degree panorama around the boat. Complementing the helm is a generous L-shaped settee paired with a teak pedestal-mounted table, creating an inviting space to relax and entertain. Overhead, a large fiberglass hardtop shelters the entire area and is equipped with flush-mounted LED lights and LED floodlights for the boat deck, while the radar array and satellite dish are mounted above alongside a navigation mast that is hinged to lower, reducing overall height when required.

Aft of the flybridge, the boat deck hosts a complete summer kitchen featuring a stainless SeaStar propane grill, an Isotherm Cruise 85 refrigerator, and a sink with both hot and cold water. The tender sits securely behind a rail in chocks and is serviced by a Steelhead Marine ES-1000 hydraulic davit with power rotation. For safety and surefooted movement, the boat deck is enclosed by 316L stainless rails, and its generous footprint easily accommodates patio furniture and larger gatherings. Propane storage is housed in a dedicated locker on the left side of the flybridge, which contains two 20-pound aluminum propane tanks supplying both the SeaStar grill and the Wolf stove and oven in the galley.

Forward, a wide Portuguese bridge wraps in front of and around the pilothouse, with engine and thruster controls at each corner, making this the preferred vantage for maneuvering when docking or while transiting locks. Practicality is built in with a door on either side of the bridge for boarding or disembarking from a fixed pier at low tide, and an additional door on either side facing forward for direct access to the foredeck. Between these forward-facing doors, a comfortable settee with storage underneath offers a welcome perch underway or at anchor.

All the way forward, the ground tackle is anchored by a hydraulic 2500-pound vertical Maxwell windlass fitted with a wildcat for the all-chain rode and a gypsy above for a second anchor or for warping lines, operated either from the pilothouse or via convenient foot switches on deck. The anchor handling area itself is elevated from the deck and contained by a lip with a drain overboard, ensuring that mud rinsed from the anchor and chain is carried away rather than tracked across the deck. To the left, a large watertight Freeman hatch opens to a stainless and teak ladder leading down into a spacious anchor locker, which includes a drain overboard that can be closed off under the forward VIP berth. For added convenience when bow to the pier, freshwater and saltwater washdowns are on hand, along with shore and water inlets from the dock.

Additional components

A Steelhead Marine ES-1000 4-function hydraulic davit manages tender operations with authority, launching and retrieving the 2020 Highfield 14' RIB tender and its outboard with effortless precision. Climate is expertly controlled by a Cruisair DX reverse-cycle air conditioning system with SMXht controls, delivering 24,000 BTU to the saloon and galley, 16,000 BTU to each stateroom, and 20,000 BTU to the pilothouse. Ground tackle is handled by a Maxwell 2500 VWC hydraulic windlass paired with an 88 lb. Rocna anchor and 400' of 3/8" HT chain for unwavering holding power.
