A. BOTTINO design + engineering: Naval engineer and architect A. Bottino is a prominent voice in today’s high-performance sailing yacht arena. Raised in a shipyard environment, he balanced study, research and competitive sailing from the very start, with benchmark projects at Aries Shipyard between 1994 and 2000. Over the past 15 years, his partnership at Soto Acebal Naval Architects produced a string of acclaimed designs including the Wally 100’ Alexia, Wally 130’, Solaris 44, 37, 42, 72 and 58, IRC52, the 65’ canting-keel Camiranga, ORC 42, a 172’ schooner and the Soto 40, among others. After touring MCP’s facilities and appreciating the shipyard’s 35-year legacy, he remarked, “It’s a pleasure to be here.” The MCP team is genuinely honored to have Mr. Bottino by our side.

The SILVER BULLET 100 is a contemporary, supremely comfortable 100-foot sloop with a midship saloon, designed to deliver interior volumes typically reserved for larger maxi yachts. A clear, clutter-free deck, with thoughtfully routed sail plans and lifelines, allows the boat to be worked along the rail effortlessly, with a self-tacking headsail simplifying maneuvers so comprehensively that this 100-footer can be handled by just two experienced sailors when desired. Twin helm stations and their consoles are positioned aft of the raised saloon cockpit and can be protected at the touch of a button by an electrically operated hardtop. This rigid shelter closes within seconds to create a climate-controlled haven—air-conditioned and shielded from wind, spray, rain or sun—ensuring long passages remain comfortable and serene in every season.

Just abaft the cockpit saloon, a purposeful working zone between the primary winches has been configured to deliver generous space for line handling, whether during convivial sailing with friends or while pushing hard at a regatta. At the stern, the design reveals a tranquil waterside terrace shaded by a retractable bimini, where deep cushions and smartly integrated seating invite languid afternoons watching the boat’s wake dissolve into the horizon—quiet, unhurried and beautifully composed. In the same area, expansive aft-facing windows draw the sea into the owner’s suite, magnifying the interior’s sense of scale and granting a private panorama rarely found on a yacht of this length.

Command the sea with a comprehensive suite of electronics, from the depthsounder and log-speedometer to wind speed and direction instrumentation, all mirrored on repeaters and centralized at a dedicated navigation center. A bright plotter pairs with GPS, a responsive autopilot and a precise compass, while VHF keeps communications crisp and radar with a radar detector heightens situational awareness. A computer integrates data and planning, and onboard entertainment is equally considered with a TV set, a VCR, a DVD player, a radio, a CD player and powerful cockpit speakers.

Her sail wardrobe is ready for every forecast, featuring a fully battened mainsail, a battened mainsail and a furling mainsail, complemented by a genoa and a furling genoa. For heavy weather and passagemaking there is a storm jib and a trisail; for performance and downwind versatility she ships a spinnaker, a gennaker/cruising spinnaker and an asymmetric spinnaker.

Rigging is set up for confident handling with a steering wheel and a tiller, muscle-saving hydraulic and electric winches and a spinnaker pole.

Manoeuvrability in tight quarters comes from both a stern thruster and a bow thruster. Shipboard systems are comprehensive, including an electric bilge pump and a manual bilge pump, a battery charger and an air compressor, full air conditioning and heating with hot water, and a fresh water maker supported by a sea water pump. Domestic comforts extend to a dishwasher, a washing machine, an oven and a microwave oven, while sanitation is flexible with a marine head, an electric head and a chemical head. Cold storage is generous with a refrigerator and a deep freezer.

Electrical independence is ensured by a shore power inlet, a generator and an inverter.
