Overview

At 34 metres, the Dutch-built superyacht Solis from Mulder Shipyard exemplifies the yard’s bespoke artistry and meticulous finish. Conceived by Claydon Reeves with naval architecture by Van Oossanen, this full-custom luxury motor yacht marries contemporary flair with a quietly enduring elegance. Celebrated at the 2016 World Superyacht Awards as Best Displacement Motor Yacht Below 500GT (30–41.9m), she secured her standing among the most accomplished vessels in her category.

A near-plumb bow, flowing lines, and perfectly judged proportions shape her striking profile, while within, a serene, light-filled ambience sets the tone for refined cruising. The main deck salon opens via floor-to-ceiling glass to the aft deck, where the dining table transforms into an expansive sunpad, and forward a formal dining space with a starboard fold-down balcony blurs the threshold between interior and exterior. The generous sundeck invites relaxed open-air living, complete with jacuzzi, bar, shaded dining, and ample seating that frames sweeping panoramic views.

Accommodation for eight is arranged across four versatile staterooms, comprising a main-deck owner’s suite crowned by a skylight, a full-beam VIP, and two guest cabins that easily convert to suit family or friends. Separate crew quarters for six ensure discreet service and enhanced privacy. Built with a robust steel hull and lightweight aluminium superstructure, Solis is a rare proposition in this size bracket as a true full-custom displacement motor yacht, maintained in immaculate condition by a single family owner since delivery, with her 10-year special survey recently completed.

Powered by twin Caterpillar C18s, she offers an 11-knot cruising speed, a top speed of 13 knots, and a confident trans-Atlantic range for effortless passagemaking. Zero-speed stabilisers, at-anchor and underway, combined with proven Dutch engineering, deliver exceptional comfort, poise, and capability for extended blue-water cruising in consummate style.

Detailed Description

Detailed description

A full displacement motor yacht of rare pedigree, Solis, hull number BN100, was built by Mulder Shipyard in the Netherlands and launched in 2015, with a comprehensive refit completed in 2025. Her naval architecture is by Van Oossanen and both exterior and interior design are by Claydon Reeves Design Studio. She carries RINA (Unrestricted Range) classification, flies the Cayman Islands flag, and is registered under IMO number 9784922 with MMSI 319086800. Constructed with a steel hull, an aluminium superstructure and teak decks, she has a gross tonnage of 315 and a net tonnage of 94, presenting the substance and silence at sea expected of a true custom build.

Measuring 34.00 metres in length overall, with a waterline length of 32.82 metres, a generous beam of 8.00 metres and a maximum draft of 2.25 metres, Solis offers outstanding volume and stability. Powered by twin Caterpillar C18 diesels rated at two times 500 kW (671 hp), she delivers a maximum speed of 13.00 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 11.00 knots, achieving a range of 3,800 nautical miles at 11.00 knots with fuel consumption of 160 litres per hour (42 US gallons) at that speed. Tankage is optimised for extended passages, with fuel capacity of 36,750 litres (9,708 US gallons), fresh water capacity of 7,945 litres (2,099 US gallons), grey water capacity of 1,760 litres (465 US gallons), black water capacity of 1,150 litres (304 US gallons) and a dirty oil reserve of 500 litres (132 US gallons).

Guest accommodation is arranged for up to eight in four cabins, comprising a main deck master suite with skylight, a full-beam VIP and two twin cabins that can be configured to suit, while separate crew quarters sleep up to seven in four cabins, including a captain’s cabin and three additional crew cabins, ensuring discreet service and proper operational separation. On board life flows through light-filled spaces: the main deck salon opens through full-height glass doors to the aft deck where the dining table transforms into a large sunpad; forward, a formal dining area is enhanced by a starboard balcony that blurs the boundary between interior and sea. The sundeck is a sanctuary for relaxation with a Riviera pool Jacuzzi, a bar and expansive seating under retractable shade, complemented by additional retractable awnings on both the sundeck and main deck.

Her machinery and technical spaces reflect careful specification and diligent upkeep. The twin Caterpillar C18 diesels are complemented by ZF Model ZFW350-1 gearboxes and a twin-screw propulsion arrangement; cutlass bearings were replaced in 2025, propellers balanced in 2025, shaft straightness testing completed in 2025 and AxiSeals renewed the same year. The propellers are bronze, and steering is by Trydo hydraulic system, with rudder seals replaced in 2025 and rudder angle indication via a GRP tube. Stabilisation is provided by Naiad Zero Speed fins, delivering comfort both at rest and underway; their bearings were replaced in 2024 and the bridge interface renewed in 2025. Engine hours stand at 6,117 on port and 6,188 on starboard as of 29 September 2025, with the five-thousand-hour engine service completed at the end of 2023 and the starboard engine completely rebuilt in 2023/2024. Electrical generation comes from two 65 kW (87 hp) Onan diesel generators, showing 12,997 hours on port and 12,598 hours on starboard as of 29 September 2025, following a major twelve-thousand-hour service in 2025; the starboard generator wiring harness was also replaced in 2025. Bow and stern manoeuvrability is assured by a Side‑Power 62 kW hydraulic bow thruster and a 62 kW hydraulic stern thruster, both serviced in 2024. The Dometic air-conditioning plant benefits from comprehensive servicing, with all ducting and all units cleaned in 2024 and two main saloon units replaced in 2025, while HVAC systems were serviced in the 2024/2025 refit period. Electrical systems are to EU plugs and specifications, with charging via Victron Energy Skylla‑TG and conversion handled by Victron equipment. Shore power is serviced by Eekels in 2025, using the EEKELS 75 kW / 93 kVA MARPOWER SPCII75 (protection degree IP22, colour RAL 9010) with dimensions of 1,115 mm by 838 mm by 715 mm and a weight of 440 kg, and the shore power converter also received a major service in 2025. Service batteries were replaced in 2023. The hydraulic system is by Hydroton, with PTU valves replaced in 2025 and an upgraded PLC cooling system. Fresh water is produced by two HEM 25/1600 Frame 1 watermakers and polished by an Octo Marine filtration system with two fresh water pumps. The toilet system is by Planus Marine, the sewage treatment system by Hamman, and fuel polishing is aided by a CJC filter.

Navigation and control are comprehensive and professional. A Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine magnetic compass anchors the bridge, aided by a Furuno VX20 satellite compass. Autopilot is via Simrad AP70, with depth sounding by Furuno FE‑8010, radar by Furuno RCU 014 and GPS by Furuno. Digital cartography is through MaxSea, while AIS and NAVTEX are provided by Sailor 6004. Speed and distance are tracked by a Furuno DS‑80 log, and wind data is displayed through the Furuno RD‑33. Visual awareness is enhanced by a Tijjsen camera system, and monitoring and ancillary functions are supported by the Tijjsen MPA system.

Her communication suite ensures reliable connectivity offshore, combining a Sailor 6006 SATCOM with Sailor 6222 VHF and Sailor 6301 SSB, while a Panasonic telephone exchange serves internal communications. Recent upgrades include new network access points and the installation of two dome‑less Starlink Maritime panels and one OneWeb Italian panel, bringing robust, modern bandwidth to the yacht.

Deck equipment is selected for reliability and ease of operation. Twin Maxwell 6000 anchor windlasses were overhauled in 2025, working with anchors that include a 210 kg Manson and a High Holding Kedge, both secured on chains of six shackles that were re‑galvanised in 2025. A pair of Maxwell aft warping capstans simplifies docking. Tenders and toys are launched by a Besenzoni crane with a safe working load of 560 kg, and shore access is facilitated by a Besenzoni passerelle plus carbon fibre tide rider side boarding ladder and gangway.

Entertainment and lifestyle systems are harmonised across the yacht. In the main saloon a ceiling‑mounted Smart TV integrates with an RTI interface via iPad, Apple TV and SKY Stream; the adjacent dining area enjoys RTI music entertainment, the aft deck seating and the sundeck both feature Bluetooth music, and the sundeck’s convivial bar complements the Riviera pool Jacuzzi. The owner’s suite, VIP cabin and guest cabins each feature Smart TVs with RTI control via iPad, Apple TV and SKY Stream. The captain’s cabin mirrors this specification, and the crew mess adds Smart TV, RTI via iPad, Apple TV and SKY Stream alongside dedicated galley equipment for efficient service. The galley itself is fully equipped, highlighted by a Rational oven and Miele refrigerators, and laundry is handled by two Miele washers and two Miele dryers.

Safety is to Large Yacht Code standards, with fire protection including two Dräger fireman’s sets, an engine room Novec 230 system, a galley duct CO₂ system and a Honeywell fire monitoring system for vigilant detection and response.

The tender and watersports inventory is complete and versatile. A Williams DieselJet 565 serves as the principal tender, complemented by a Zodiac SOLAS rescue boat with a 9.9 hp outboard. On the water, guests enjoy a two‑seat Yamaha Jet Ski, two stand‑up Jet Skis, two Seabobs, a Jobe SUP paddleboard, a wakeboard, water‑skis and snorkelling equipment, with scuba diving equipment available for underwater exploration.

Recent refit and maintenance have been executed to an exemplary standard. In 2024/2025 the yacht successfully completed her ten‑year Class and Flag surveys. A full paint job, including deckheads, refreshed her presentation, while network capability was transformed with the installation of two Starlink Maritime panels and one OneWeb Italian panel, plus new access points and two SKY Stream boxes. A tender major engine service was completed. All ducting in the galley, laundry and AC system was cleaned. Fresh water tanks, grey water tanks and black water tanks were cleaned and painted. Lazarette bilges and decks were repainted with non‑skid coating, the forepeak was repainted, and the forward fuel tanks were inspected and cleaned. Glazing works included replacement of VIP/brow area windows and aft bridge windows. On deck, anchor windlasses were overhauled and repainted with Awlgrip, and anchor chains were re‑galvanized. In the machinery spaces engine mounts were inspected, while the entire drivetrain received new Axiseals, new cutlass bearings, balanced propellers, shaft inspections with straightness and dye testing, and new rudder bearings. Fresh antifouling was applied with eighteen months of coverage. HVAC was serviced, the shore power converter received a major service, hydraulic power PTO valves were replaced, new freezers were installed in the crew mess and lazarette, and interior wall panel fabric was replaced. In 2023, new carpets were fitted and bridge leather was replaced. In 2022, exterior varnish on cap rails and table tops was renewed, and the teak decks were sanded and recaulked.

Solis stands as a distinguished 34‑metre with a near‑vertical bow, sweeping lines and poised proportions that remain contemporary yet timeless. Recognised at the 2016 World Superyacht Awards as Best Displacement Motor Yacht Below 500GT (30–41.9 m), she has been immaculately maintained by one family owner since new. With zero‑speed stabilisers, a light‑filled main salon opening through full‑height glass doors to the aft deck and a fold‑down balcony at the formal dining area, she celebrates the sea at every turn. The expansive sundeck, with Jacuzzi, sunpads and shaded dining, invites unhurried days underway. Cruising at 11.00 knots with a top speed of 13.00 knots, endowed with a trans‑Atlantic range, RINA unrestricted classification and proven engineering, she offers the capability and comfort for extended voyaging, all presented in the refined finish of a full‑custom Mulder build.
