Overview

Superseding the celebrated Leopard 48, the Leopard 50 is a premium bluewater sailing catamaran, its capabilities proven in the demanding waters off South Africa. This modern multihull blends poised performance with refined comfort and poised handling, reflecting Leopard Catamarans’ renowned build quality among world-class cruising yachts. The interior-exterior flow is cleverly conceived to amplify social space and ease of movement. A traditional flybridge crowns the salon, while the well-sheltered helm sits neatly behind the bulkhead and beneath a dedicated hardtop for superb protection. True to the brand’s DNA, there is clear sightline and direct access to the aft cockpit, an ergonomic hallmark that enhances safety and conviviality underway and at anchor.

Guests gravitate to the flybridge, a welcoming retreat with a lounge, table, and sunbed, all shaded beneath an awning for effortless relaxation whether coastal cruising or passagemaking.

Below, every cabin features a private ensuite with a separate shower, and island berths with walk-around access from both sides, creating a calm, home-like sanctuary. A dedicated utility room supports liveaboard practicality, while an extensive options palette heightens versatility, livability, and long-range autonomy befitting a luxury cruising catamaran.

Thoughtful enhancements elevate this flybridge catamaran even further. A custom helm enclosure adds protection and comfort, complemented by Raymarine broadband and digital radar for confident navigation. Power management is exceptional, with Lithium 5x300Ah 12V Chins batteries augmented by new lithium units and six additional solar panels (2024) for impressive self-sufficiency. Upgraded Yanmar 80 hp engines pair with Gori reverse-folding props featuring automatic pitch adjustment, while Shaft Shark rope cutters contribute to reliability at sea. Bluewater independence is reinforced by a watermaker and a 110V washer/dryer. Aesthetic and tactile upgrades include custom teak tables in the saloon, forward lounge, and top lounge (replacing FRP), with tailored covers for the upper lounge, its table, and the tender. Sail inventory is expanded with two light-air headsails—Code 0 and Code D—in excellent condition. Ground tackle includes a stainless primary anchor with extra chain plus a secondary anchor. Fresh bottom paint and serviced running gear are scheduled for June 2026. Offshore connectivity is assured via Mazu satellite communications and a mast-mounted cellular booster. Safety is comprehensive, with a full USCG package and factory-engine-room fire suppression, and practical touches such as two rod holders, mosquito screens for the salon windows, and six new underwater lights. The vessel is waxed twice yearly, and all windows and skylights have been fully reset, with completion slated before June 10. A Caribe C13 tender with a Yamaha 40 hp outboard is referenced but not included.

In sum, the Leopard 50 stands as an elegant, seaworthy multihull—an inviting, performance-driven cruising platform crafted for style, space, and serious ocean-going ambitions.

Detailed Description

June 2026 yard period

During the June 2026 yard period, the yacht received new paint on the bottom and running gear, the engines and drives were fully serviced with the installation of a new turbo, and miscellaneous paintwork and detailing were completed topside to present the vessel in crisp, turn-key condition.

Leopard features

Factory-installed full simulated teak sets the tone for effortless elegance, complemented by full deck and lounge pads that invite relaxation across every social space. Performance and sail handling are enhanced by a square-top sail, while Raymarine systems at the bridge and helm, together with a remote autopilot, deliver confident navigation. A tender lift streamlines water access, and the intelligent four-cabin layout places the owner’s cabin and VIP suite to starboard for exceptional privacy and comfort. Entertaining is elevated by a new cockpit icemaker, recently replaced, and a four-zone stereo that fills the yacht with rich sound. Climate and light are masterfully managed by a comprehensive shade package for the saloon and cabins, presented in excellent condition, along with cockpit shade curtains for added protection. Practical amenities include a windlass with both remote and foot controls, ensuring easy anchoring and seamless days on the water.

Manufacturer provided description

Designed with versatility at its core, the next generation of Leopard Catamarans arrives in the form of the Leopard 50, created to succeed the award-winning Leopard 48. Owners can tailor the experience with a choice of the classic hard-top exterior configuration, the Leopard 50P, or—introducing for the first time on a Leopard Catamaran of this size—an optional flybridge accommodation, the Leopard 50L. The Leopard 50L is the ideal choice for those seeking expanded outdoor living, featuring a flybridge with a lounge area, table, sunbed, and optional exterior speakers and shade awning, all accessed via floating stairs that rise gracefully from the aft cockpit. Unlike typical sailboat flybridge arrangements, passengers can move about under sail with generous headroom, free from boom interference, while the flybridge remains positioned to preserve clear communication with the helm station, a hallmark of every Leopard Catamaran.

For sailors who prefer the familiar, continuous hardtop, the Leopard 50P omits the flybridge to deliver heightened performance, particularly when equipped with the offered squaretop mainsail and other available performance-oriented rigging and sail options. Whichever version you choose, the Leopard 50 showcases a refined new exterior aesthetic that lends the hull a more sophisticated presence, and the interior provides multiple layout configurations with four or five cabins, supported by an extensive options list.
