Overview

1988 Offshore 48' Sedan—a refined expression of William Crealock’s celebrated pedigree—delivers enduring offshore capability with iconic lines, uniting comfort, efficiency, and poised seakeeping in a timeless cruising yacht. With a practical two-stateroom, two-head arrangement, it suits couples or families seeking extended range and genuine livability without the complexity or operating costs of a larger motor yacht, making it an appealing sedan-bridge flybridge cruiser for discerning owners.

Powered by twin Caterpillar 3208 diesels (375 HP each), she offers a composed, economical passage and the kind of dependability owners prize. The light-filled salon, wrapped in oversized windows, provides sweeping sightlines and an inviting social hub, while the galley-up configuration keeps everyone connected underway or at anchor. Below, the primary stateroom is complete with a private ensuite, and the guest cabin includes a double bunk with direct head access—an ideal layout for comfortable cruising or a refined liveaboard lifestyle.

On the flybridge, excellent visibility combines with generous seating for crew and guests, and the wide side decks enhance safety and flow. Offshore’s signature semi-displacement hull inspires confidence, whether plying the Pacific Northwest or tracing the coast, reinforcing the yacht’s reputation as a true offshore cruiser and capable coastal cruiser. Known for superior construction, notable range, and easy manners at sea, this Offshore 48’ Sedan deserves a spot on any serious cruising yacht shortlist.

Expect renowned Offshore build pedigree, a bright open salon, a convenient galley-up layout, and a large flybridge with plentiful seating—hallmarks of a versatile powerboat designed for real-world adventure. Located in Long Beach, CA, and held in a transferable LLC, she is available for private or virtual showings.

Detailed Description

Overview

Step aboard to a large, open salon that sets an inviting tone with a custom settee offering generous storage below and a small coffee table for easy relaxation. A hidden dining table with four chairs is cleverly concealed within a custom cabinet, while two occasional chairs add flexible seating. Seven large, low windows, five of them opening, usher in natural light and breezes and are dressed with wood window blinds. Underfoot, classic teak-and-holly soles enhance the yacht’s warm ambiance, and four removable engineroom hatches ensure practical access when needed.

The generously appointed galley is designed for both everyday convenience and entertaining, featuring an expanded countertop with two barstools, a stainless-steel two-basin sink, and ample storage throughout, including an overhead dish cabinet and a custom spice holder. Culinary equipment includes a Cooper refrigerator/freezer, a Princess three-burner propane cooktop with a matching Princess oven, and a GE microwave oven. A sliding door opens directly to the full walk-around, complemented by an opening window that brings in light and ventilation.

The master cabin centers on a comfortable centerline queen bunk, served by two overhead hatches and three opening, upgraded stainless-steel ports for fresh air and brightness. Storage is thoughtfully provided with one cedar-lined hanging locker, and there is direct access to the forward head along with a large dressing mirror that completes the suite-like feel. The bunk cabin offers a versatile double bunk, a cedar-lined hanging locker, two bell reading lights, two opening ports, an overhead hatch, and a large dressing mirror.

Both heads feature upgraded Dometic units. The master head is fitted with a stall shower for at-sea indulgence, while the guest head is configured as a wet head for efficient, all-in-one utility. Opening ports support natural ventilation, and an overhead hatch adds light and airflow, with ample storage throughout to keep essentials neatly stowed.

Up top, the flybridge and boat deck are purpose-built for command and enjoyment. Pompanette helm heat keeps the helm comfortable, while an L-settee with storage below and a starboard-side co-captain seat invite conversation under way. A fold-out electronics panel, a folding bimini top, and a full enclosure adapt effortlessly to changing conditions. Handling tender operations is straightforward with an 800 lb stainless-steel davit, and the Avon RIB with a 20 HP Honda engine stands at the ready for shore excursions.

On deck, a large cockpit anchors outdoor living with a custom freezer, a stainless-steel sink, and a large lazarette storage area. A second access ladder leads to the flybridge and boat deck, and full walk-around side decks, port and starboard boarding doors, and a bow seat enhance safety and versatility. Ground tackle is robust, with a Muir windlass and 300' of anchor chain, supported by a bow washdown and six stainless-steel haws cleats for secure mooring.

At the lower helm, full controls are complemented by a generator control panel and an inverter panel, with sliding access to the full walk-around for quick deck transitions. A digital RPM readout provides precise engine information, and a teak folding seat with footrest ensures comfort during longer passages.

Mechanical systems are anchored by Caterpillar 3208 375 hp engines showing 3,000 hours, paired with an 8 kW Northern Lights generator for reliable shipboard power. Climate control is delivered by Technicold reverse-cycle air conditioning and heat, and an upgraded water heater enhances onboard comfort. Power management includes a Xantrex inverter and a Lewco battery charger, while dripless shaft seals, Racor fuel filters for the mains and generator, and a Muir windlass underscore the yacht’s dependable engineering.

Electronics are comprehensive, with a Simrad radar-plotter-sounder at both the upper and lower helms, a Simrad autopilot, a Simrad VHF at the flybridge, and an Icom VHF in the lower helm. Simrad quad data expands situational awareness, Bennett trim tab controls fine-tune the ride, and a Sony 12-volt stereo sets the soundtrack for every journey.
