Overview

72' Performance Motor Yacht | 2004 | United States

A study in timeless poise and purposeful power, this 72-foot 2004 motor yacht blends exhilarating performance with the kind of understated luxury that makes every mile feel effortless. With a confident 17-foot beam, her proportions deliver both presence at anchor and impressive volume underway, creating a yacht that is as inviting for long weekends with family as it is capable for fast passages between favorite harbors.

Driven by twin MAN inboard diesels, she finds an ideal rhythm at a swift 28-knot cruise and has the muscle to top out near 36 knots when the horizon calls. The ride is composed and quiet, the handling assured, and the feel at the helm refreshingly direct—everything you want from a proper performance yacht. Robust fiberglass composite construction and low-maintenance fiberglass decks ensure durability, efficiency, and peace of mind throughout the seasons.

Step inside to a light-filled salon crafted for relaxed sophistication. Generous windows frame the views, while a seamless flow between lounging and dining areas invites conversation and easy entertaining. The well-appointed galley serves as a natural hub, equally suited to casual breakfasts underway or elegant dinners at anchor. Thoughtful accommodation planning provides versatile private quarters for family and guests, complemented by four beautifully finished heads—an uncommon luxury at this size that elevates comfort on extended cruises.

Privacy and service are enhanced by a discreet crew cabin for one, enabling professional assistance without intruding on the owner’s and guests’ spaces. Practicality meets ambition with a fuel capacity of over 1,050 gallons, supporting longer itineraries and fewer fuel stops, whether you’re hopping along the coast or stretching out to your favorite island chain.

From the broad aft lounge to the sleek foredeck, exterior spaces are designed for the simple pleasures of yachting—sunlit mornings, unhurried afternoons, and starlit evenings. Every detail speaks to an owner who values performance without compromise and elegance without excess.

Located in the United States and ready for her next chapter, this 72' beauty is equally at home as a luxury motor yacht, a performance cruiser, and a sport yacht—combining speed, comfort, and style in a compelling package that remains as relevant today as the day she launched.

Detailed Description

Construction

Delivered in 2004, the 72' Riva Spendida motor yacht BON VIVANT is built with a fiberglass hull and superstructure, uniting Italian pedigree with enduring strength and a refined, lightweight finish for confident, swift cruising.

Dimensions

With a length overall (L.O.A.) of 72.00 feet (21.95 meters), a molded beam of 17.66 feet (5.38 meters), and a loaded draft of 5.41 feet (1.65 meters), BON VIVANT delivers the poised stance and seakindly proportions expected of a thoroughbred sports yacht, complemented by a gross tonnage of 77. Fuel capacity is 1,057 US gallons (4,001 liters) and fresh water capacity is 320 US gallons (1,211 liters), yielding generous autonomy between marinas. Performance is as exhilarating as it is efficient, with a maximum speed of 36.0 knots, a fast cruising speed of 28.0 knots, and an economical passage speed of 22.0 knots.

Machinery

The yacht’s engineering has been specified for reliability, silence, and safety. Water–fuel separator filters protect the supply feeding stainless steel fuel tanks with level indicators, while an engine room ventilation system and air intakes with remote closure support optimal breathing in all conditions. Immersed engine exhausts with idle bypass lighting help keep operation discreet, and sound proofing with anti-slip, washable flooring makes the machinery space both quiet and practical. For contingencies, there are two emergency bilge discharge systems utilizing the main engines, complemented by automatic and manual electric immersed pumps, a water alarm system sensor, a pump for direct discharge outboard, and an emergency electric multi-purpose pump. Fire protection is comprehensive, combining a deck outlet for fire hose driven by a seawater pump with an FM200 automatic anti-incendiary system in the engine room. Electrical power is abundant and flexible thanks to a 23 kW 200 V 60 Hz generator, a 120/240 V 60 Hz automatic battery charger and a dedicated 12 V 25 A charger for generator batteries, plus a 100-amp generator battery, a 170-amp engine battery group, a 170-amp auxiliary service battery group, and a 50-amp RTF battery group. Distribution is safeguarded by battery switches with lighting and outlets deployed in various zones, a fuse panel with an automatic malfunction indicator, a battery parallel system for engine starting, a shore power inlet, and a 220 V electrical circuit. Fluid management is equally refined: there is a fresh water system with a stainless steel water tank, a hot water system with boiler, and a pressurized water system employing two 24 V pumps and a stainless steel expansion tank, together with a fresh water outlet for top-ups and washdowns. The WC system uses fresh water flush, while a grey water discharge system features a 120-liter central holding tank with automatic electric pump and an emergency electric multipurpose pump; the black water discharge system includes a 160-liter central holding tank with automatic electric pump and direct pump-out from the tank. An engine fuel supply valve with remote air intake closure adds a further layer of safety. Domestic comforts are supported by upgraded insulation for the air conditioning and heating systems, a 120 V 60 Hz washer/dryer heating system, and a centralized 24/220 V 60 Hz refrigeration plant serving a 210-liter galley refrigerator, a 110-liter freezer, and a 40-liter salon refrigerator. On the mechanical side, control and protection are assured by cathodic protection with zinc anodes, a trim tab system with indicator, and an electro-hydraulic servo-assisted steering system; an engine oil discharge system with an electric pump services engines, gearboxes, and generator via a deviator and interception valve.

Accommodations

BON VIVANT welcomes up to six guests in the Owner’s party across three staterooms, with additional accommodations for up to two crew in one cabin, harmonizing privacy and conviviality with unmistakable Italian style. On the upper deck, the aft deck sets a relaxed tone with a teak table, a convenient sink, and ample seating enhanced by all-new Silvertex cushions in the signature Riva Aquamarine, alongside a large sun-lounging area, overhead lighting, and a full teak deck. From here, there is direct access to the hydraulic retractable swim ladder and the hydraulic passarelle, making boarding and bathing effortless. The upper salon continues the open-air allure beneath a retractable hardtop, where U-shaped white leather lounge seating and warm wood floors invite day-to-night living with easy access to the helm. At the helm, a hardwood floor and a lacquered ceiling frame an ergonomic command station: a driver’s unit with two seats and a dedicated co-pilot seat, chart holder, clock, barometer, and hydro-thermometer, plus a 12 V cigarette-lighter-style outlet and a general electric panel behind a Plexiglas door. Steering is hydraulic and servo-assisted with a leather-clad wheel; electronic engine throttle reverse levers, three windshield wipers with integrated wash, a trim tab indicator, and gauges for water and fuel levels complement complete engine instrumentation, a compass, alarms, a depth sounder and tri-data, and a Raytheon ST 7001 automatic pilot with rudder angle indicator interchangeable with the Plotter/GPS. A manual fire extinguisher is close at hand. Forward and in the cockpit, comfort is amplified with cockpit cushions, a swimming ladder, a cockpit table and shower, a hydraulic gangway, a teak cockpit, and a sun pad lounge area with new cushions. Across the hull and deck, thoughtful detailing abounds: a fiberglass deck with anti-slip surfaces on the side decks and anti-slip steps leading up, a chain count meter, and a Side Power electric bow thruster. Stainless steel deck accessories include a guardrail with one gate, fairleads fore and aft, robust cleats—two forward, two midship (one on each side), four aft, and two concealed on the swim ladder—plus stainless steel hawse fittings. A forward sun pad with new cushions and covers complements a searchlight with controls at the wheelhouse, navigation and anchor lights, TV and GPS antennas, a horn, and an acoustic alarm for water in the bilge. The teak-laid swim platform and footboards are finished with a stainless rub rail, and an aft shower mixes hot and cold water neatly within the transom. A tender garage closes electro-hydraulically and features a roller and electric winch system to lift and launch the tender, supported by two 1200 W 24 V electric winches aft, fiberglass air intake covers, stainless steel and teak cockpit gates to the swim platform, and stainless steel handrails at the transom and throughout the cockpit. Shore power is delivered at 100 A with Glendinning. On the main deck, the lower salon is an elegant retreat with a custom built-in white leather sofa offering integrated storage, carpet underfoot, a retractable TV, and a leather-paneled ceiling. Halogen lighting with dimmers sets the mood, while bulkheads and cabinetry in “essence” with half-shine transparent varnish and leather accents surround a lacquered Italian custom-designed Art Deco coffee table; a skylight with tempered glass brightens the space, and a manual fire extinguisher and direct access to the galley add practicality. The galley itself is both striking and functional with a blue Corian floor, lacquered ceiling, laminated bulkheads, portholes with curtains, lacquered cabinets, wardrobes and shelves, a cooker hood with outboard discharge, refrigerator, microwave oven, four-burner electric stove, dishwasher, Corian worktop, and a basin with mixer, together with a manual fire extinguisher. The Owner’s Suite presents a queen bed and an en-suite master bath with a Corian floor and lacquered ceilings. An upholstered ceiling with “essence” inserts and lacquer complements bulkheads and cabinetry in “essence” with half-shine transparent varnish and leather, joined by panels and lacquer finishes, portholes with curtains, bedside cabinets, a storage locker, wardrobes with courtesy lights, additional lockers, a chest of drawers, side shelves, a safe, electrical outlets, and a CD/DVD player. The VIP stateroom mirrors this elevated ambience with a queen bed, en-suite bath, upholstered ceiling with “essence” inserts and lacquer, bulkheads and cabinetry in “essence” with half-shine transparent varnish and leather, refined panels and lacquer, portholes with curtains, a manual fire extinguisher, wardrobes with courtesy lights, a chest of drawers, a locker beneath the bunk, a storage locker, side shelves, and electrical outlets. The Guest cabin offers twin beds in over-under bunks with an en-suite bath, an upholstered ceiling with “essence” inserts and lacquer, bulkheads and cabinetry in “essence” with half-shine transparent varnish and leather, portholes with curtains, and wardrobes with courtesy lights. Crew quarters provide twin over-under bunks, lockers, and a dedicated crew head. On the lower deck, the garage accommodates an 11 ft hard-bottom tender or a three-person jet ski, ensuring the pleasures of exploration are always within reach.

Communication, navigation & entertainment systems

Navigational and entertainment technologies are curated for clarity and pleasure underway: a Raymarine ST60 digital depth and speed log-speedometer pairs with a Raymarine E120 depth sounder for precise readings, while a Raymarine ST 700 autopilot and a Ritchie PowerDamp compass steady the course. Night operations benefit from a SANSHIN HR-1012U searchlight, and trim is fine-tuned via a dedicated trim tab gauge. Communications include a Raytheon 430 loudhailer, ICOM VHF, SAT phone, and SAT TV, with a CD player providing soundtrack to the voyage. Maneuvering finesse is assured by a Side-Power bow thruster.
