Overview
Contango is an elegant 2012 Viking 60 Convertible flybridge sportfishing yacht showcasing a deep roster of recent enhancements, highlighted by a Seakeeper 16. Meticulously cared for to exacting mechanical and cosmetic standards, she stands out for her comprehensive equipment, superb condition, and thoughtful upgrades—truly a top-tier bluewater battlewagon for the dedicated angler. February 2023 work included a sleek black mask, fresh bottom paint, new rudder bearings, and new carpeting throughout the interior. In November 2023 the Onan generator and CAT engines received their 5,000-hour service, and the interior wood was refinished in December 2023. Lying in her home slip at Los Suenos Resort and Marina, Costa Rica, she is turnkey, ready to show, and prepared to cruise or fish offshore at a moment’s notice.
Detailed Description
Vessel highlights
Powered by C32A Caterpillar engines rated at 1,925 hp and integrated with the Caterpillar CP Link system and electronic trolling valves, this yacht delivers commanding performance and precise control. A satin interior finish and granite countertops in the galley and all heads elevate the living spaces, which comprise four staterooms with a queen forward and three heads. At the helm, Garmin electronics with AIS pair with FLIR night vision for confident navigation, while an Eskimo ice chipper, a Sea Recovery water maker producing 1,400 GPD, and a DC bow thruster enhance capability offshore. Anglers will appreciate cockpit mezzanine air conditioning, teak decks, a transom livewell with window, US-9 teaser reels, cockpit outlets for kite fishing, deep dropping or teaser reels, and two underwater lights. Extended-range adventures are enabled by extra fuel carried in three tanks—main 835 gallons, mid 516 gallons, and forward 295 gallons—and onboard comfort is further refined with exterior cushions upgraded to closed-cell construction.
Recent boat improvements
In March 2026, the bridge cushions were replaced to precisely match the weave of the helm chairs, elevating the helm’s cohesive, custom-finished look.
In February 2025, all Garmin electronics were renewed with four 8617 displays, and a Furuno sonar was added to enhance fish-finding and navigational capability. By July, all vinyl in the companionway and the forward VIP stateroom was replaced, and the washer and dryer were renewed for dependable onboard convenience. August brought a comprehensive technical refresh as the entire engine room and engines were painted and new vinyl flooring was installed, complemented by a full life raft service. In September, the yacht was fitted with new VEEM wheels for optimized performance, and in December the Seakeeper 16 was replaced, with the maximum warranty purchased to extend coverage to five years in total.
In June and July 2024, the yacht received a substantial aesthetic facelift: all soft goods in the salon—including the sofa, chairs and pillows—were refreshed alongside a new headliner and updated window lambrequins; matching covers were fitted for all teak tables; every inch of salon woodwork was sanded and refinished to a rich luster; the mezzanine cushions were recovered and paired with protective covers; the fighting chair arms were re-covered; and the helm chairs had their wood refinished with new cushions added. The exterior presentation was transformed with the hull painted to a Pamlico blue, a teak faux toe rail installed with stainless-steel rub rails, and crisp new boot stripes applied. The underside of the bridge top was finished in a very light grey to reduce glare, the underwater lights were replaced to total four on the transom, and all rod holders were renewed.
Salon
Step into the salon where a satin interior finish, expertly refinished in June 2024, sets a refined tone. Entertainment is centered around a Samsung 40" TV supported by four Sky TV receivers, while a Kenmore ice maker stands ready to serve. Rich teak valances frame the space above a large L-shaped couch with under-seat storage, and practical canvas runners protect the walkways. Command and control are close at hand with a VHF command mic and an upright electrical panel with Octoplex system, and an automatic salon door provides effortless entry and exit.

The galley is beautifully finished with a granite countertop set over durable Amtico flooring and equipped for serious culinary work with a Kenyon four-burner cooktop and a Sharp microwave/convection oven, while a garbage disposal streamlines clean-up. Cold storage is exceptional, featuring six Sub-Zero drawers configured for refrigerator and freezer use, complemented by four Sub-Zero below-counter, drawer-style refrigerators and two dedicated Sub-Zero freezer drawers, and supported by a Kenmore ice maker conveniently located in the salon. For casual dining and conversation, two bar stools with backs line the counter, and an inviting U-shaped dinette provides additional seating with useful storage beneath.

Freshly renewed with new carpet flooring installed in 2023, the suite is brightened by a ceiling hatch and thoughtfully outfitted with four 110V outlets to keep devices powered. Climate control is assured by Cruisair air conditioning for year-round comfort.

Communication is clear and reliable through two Icom IC M604 VHF radios, while FLIR controls pair with FLIR night vision to extend confidence and precision after dark. Anglers will value the US9 teaser reels and secure, lockable rod storage, and the command center is anchored by a Release teak helm pod flanked by three Release helm chairs for impeccable ergonomics. Comfort and entertainment are elevated by a Costa enclosure, a Fusion stereo driving four JL Audio speakers, and thoughtful amenities including a freezer box and fresh water washdown.

Practicality meets performance with a transom live well with window, a tuna door with lift gate, and an Eskimo dump into the mezzanine box. Chilled stowage is abundant, including a refrigerated drink box, a refrigerated bait box, and a cockpit freezer, complemented by a tackle center with four drawers. Day-to-day operations are streamlined with engine room access, cockpit outlets and dedicated fresh and saltwater outlets, a port deck full-length fish box, starboard deck hatch storage bins, two underwater lights, and an oil transfer quick disconnect.
Hull and deck
The Pamlico Blue hull with a black mask presents a striking profile, protected by bottom paint and complemented by a secure bow rail. Underway and at anchor, the deck is comprehensively equipped: Rupp outriggers with a center rigger stand ready for the bite, a spotlight and two underwater lights enhance visibility, and an oil-change system is run to the cockpit for effortless service. Ground tackle is robust, with a 32 kg plow anchor on fifty feet of 3/8 inch chain and approximately 300 ft of rode, all managed by a Lewmar windlass and guided by an anchor chute. Power handling is simplified with two Cable Masters. Safety is well considered with a Lalizas life raft for six people, new in August 2022, twelve Type 1 PFDs, a first-aid kit, and current flares. Recent care includes new rudder bearings in 2025 and new carpet throughout.

Oversight and service are simplified by three engine room cameras, a Craftsman toolbox, and a lube oil system, while redundant capability comes from dual power-steering pumps. Climate control is handled by Dometic Cruise Air air conditioning with four compressors serving the salon, staterooms, and head areas, complemented by a central vacuum system and a Raritan hot-water heater. Shore maneuvering and comfort at sea are enhanced by a Side-Power electric bow thruster and stabilization by a Seakeeper 16, and dockside handling is streamlined with two Cable Masters.
Electrical power is thoughtfully arranged, with 125/250V AC shore power feeding a port-side panel as you enter the salon, and the Onan 21.5 kW generator providing AC while underway. Charging is managed by Chargemaster 60- and 100-amp chargers, and the vessel carries eight batteries supporting 24V/12V systems that feed transformers located outboard of the mains, including a Charles IsoBoost transformer.
