Overview
Ruckus is a formidable 2005 Viking 48 Convertible, uniting authentic offshore sportfishing muscle with inviting three-cabin accommodation suited to extended bluewater adventures. Extensively refreshed in 2023 and kept to exacting professional standards, she is powered by twin 1,050 hp Caterpillar C18s and equipped with an advanced Furuno electronics suite, a custom black marlin tower for elevated spotting, and a comprehensively upgraded tournament cockpit purpose-built for serious game fishing. Her proven long-range cruising ability and a history of multiple tournament successes and world-record catches speak to undeniable pedigree, while the balanced ride, efficient performance, and refined finishes deliver the poise expected of a premium sportfishing yacht. For owners seeking a turnkey flybridge convertible with the speed, range, and reliability to hunt billfish far offshore and the comfort to unwind between strikes, Ruckus presents an exceptional, ready-to-go opportunity.
Detailed Description
Ruckus
A benchmark sportfishing yacht in her class, Ruckus unites serious offshore capability with the comfort, quality and craftsmanship for which Viking is celebrated. Extensively refitted in 2023 and fastidiously maintained under the care of a full-time captain, she presents as a highly capable and exceptionally well-equipped offshore sportfisher.
Her offshore pedigree is proven across extensive passages between Australia, New Zealand and Tonga, and her substantial fuel capacity enables a return voyage to New Zealand without the need for auxiliary fuel bladders.
Her tournament credentials are equally compelling, highlighted by victory at the 31st Tongan International Billfish Tournament in 2025. She also holds both the 50lb Line Class Swordfish World Record with a 300kg fish and the 16lb Line Class Swordfish World Record with a 168kg fish.
Purpose-built for serious game fishing, the cockpit features a centrally positioned Pompanette game chair, six tuna tubes, a large transom livewell, Shakespeare outriggers, an insulated fish bin, a cockpit shower and a sump box pump-out system.
Accommodation is arranged in a practical three-cabin layout. The portside master offers an island double bed with a private ensuite, complemented by extensive engine spare-parts storage beneath the bed. Two additional guest cabins with over-and-under bunks provide comfortable accommodation for up to six guests.
The flybridge is comprehensively equipped with three 17-inch touchscreen displays, a Furuno FCV1150 fishfinder, a CSH-8041-A Omni Sonar, a DFF3D multi-beam sonar, a FAP 7002 autopilot, a FA-50 AIS and two Icom VHF radios. Further enhancements include rebuilt hydraulic steering, a Sleipner bow thruster, a rocket launcher accommodating eight rods, four additional rod holders incorporated into the tower legs and two Shimano Force Master 9000 electric teaser reels.
A custom black marlin tower delivers an elevated fishing and navigation vantage and is fitted with a single 15-inch Furuno multifunction display.
A Quintrex Outback Explorer 370 alloy tender, powered by a Yamaha 25hp four-stroke outboard installed new in 2021, is carried aboard via a Davco 500kg davit.
Power comes from twin Caterpillar C18 diesel engines producing 1,050hp each, while an EneOn 6kW generator, installed new in 2023, provides reliable onboard electrical supply.
