Overview
YQUEM is a 31.70 m custom cutter‑rigged sloop, a luxury sailing superyacht conceived by Bill Tripp and launched in 1992 by US yard Windship‑Trident, with interior by Donald Starkey. Extensively renewed from May 2025 to August 2026—covering hydraulics, electrics, plumbing, propulsion, rig, navigation and décor—she welcomes eight guests in four en‑suite double cabins, plus three crew cabins. Her 460 hp LUGGER main engine was fully overhauled and showed zero hours in August 2026. Epoxy‑composite hull with Kevlar, a SPARCRAFT carbon mast, 535 m² upwind sail area and a 1,900 NM range underline her blue‑water ocean‑going pedigree. Lying in Valencia, Spain, under Maltese commercial flag and offered VAT paid.
Detailed Description
Yquem
Yquem is a 31.70-metre custom cutter-rigged sloop designed by Bill Tripp and built in 1992 by the American yard Windship-Trident. Previously sailing as Lunar Mist and later as Cinderella II, she now carries the name of one of the great Sauternes estates. With exterior lines by Bill Tripp and an interior by Donald Starkey, she belongs to that rare category of blue-water yacht that simply never dates.
She lies in Valencia, Spain, under Maltese commercial flag and is offered VAT paid. Her epoxy composite hull, reinforced with Kevlar over a PVC foam core, combines lightness with genuine strength, while her teak deck lends the timeless presence that has always defined her.
Following twelve months at Solent Refit in 2012, Yquem was entirely refitted between May 2025 and August 2026 in an extensive programme encompassing hydraulics, electrics, plumbing, propulsion, rigging, navigation electronics and interiors. Her 460 hp LUGGER main engine, fully refurbished, showed zero hours in August 2026, and the hydraulic systems are now governed by a custom-made PLC. Hull, keel, mast, boom, rigging and shaft have all been independently surveyed.
On deck, life centres around two separate cockpits that preserve guest privacy: amidships, a spacious and sheltered cockpit with its two dining tables; aft, the working cockpit with twin wheels. The SPARCRAFT carbon mast, born of the partnership formed for the 1992 America's Cup, remains notably solid, while the Park Avenue boom makes handling the mainsail remarkably straightforward. New running rigging, a 2026 SANDERS mainsail and a hydraulic furler complete a sail plan of 535 m² upwind and 1,110 m² downwind; this cutter reaches 12.5 knots at top speed, holds 9 knots cruising and carries a 1,900-nautical-mile range.
Below, a deck house with 360-degree views bridges deck life and saloon. Generous and luminous, the saloon blends lounge and dining for eight guests; repainted white and fitted with an additional window, new couches and reworked lighting, it regained all its brightness during the refit. The galley, set aft of the saloon, is exceptionally roomy and beautifully arranged around its centre island. The owner’s cabin is a large double with en suite shower and bath, joined by three double cabins each with its own bathroom. The crew enjoy three separate cabins, including a twin cabin, along with a crew mess and a separate entrance from the aft cockpit.
Special features
Comprehensively refitted between May 2025 and August 2026, this yacht benefits from renewed hydraulics, electrics, plumbing, propulsion, rigging, navigation electronics, and interiors. Its LUGGER L6125A 460 hp main engine has been fully refurbished with new cylinders and pistons and shows zero hours as of August 2026, complemented by a brand-new 30 kW NANNI sound-proofed generator, while the 27 kW and 17 kW KOHLER generators were fully serviced in August 2026. The sailing package includes a new 260 m2 SANDERS mainsail (2026), new Spectra running rigging, and a RECKMANN hydraulic headsail furler, set on a SPARCRAFT carbon mast by Omohundro with a SPARCRAFT Park Avenue composite boom delivering 535 m2 upwind and 1,110 m2 downwind. The epoxy composite hull is reinforced with Kevlar over a PVC foam core and finished with a teak deck, while a new 180 l/h IDROMAR water maker (2026), an ALFA LAVAL fuel separator, and sewage treatment systems enhance autonomy. Connectivity is assured with STARLINK internet and IRIDIUM satellite communications, and navigation is commanded by a B&G suite featuring a Z12 chart plotter, B&G and FURUNO radar, an AIS transmitter, and a SIMRAD hydraulic autopilot. Accommodation is arranged for eight guests in four en suite double cabins, including an owner's cabin with both shower and bath, supported by three separate crew cabins with a crew mess and a dedicated entrance from the aft cockpit. A deck house with 360-degree views crowns a saloon repainted white with an additional window, new couches, LED lighting, and Corian surfaces (2025/26). The exceptionally roomy galley is centred around a gimballed centre island and appointed with a GAGGENAU oven and hob, a dishwasher, four refrigerators, and two deep freezers. Deck equipment includes a MAXWELL 5000 windlass, fully refurbished and PTO driven, with 115 m of new 18 mm chain, a 50 hp RICHFIELD retractable bow thruster, and an aft garage door on hydraulic rams with a swim ladder and floating platform. Propulsion finesse comes from a HUNDESTED VP5 FR-HY variable pitch propeller with a new PSS shaft seal, new anodes, and PROPSPEED. The package is completed by a NOVURANIA 400 DL tender with a 50 hp YAMAHA outboard, waterskis, two wakeboards, and inflatable paddleboards, and peace of mind is provided by independent 2026 surveys of the hull, keel, mast, boom, rigging, rudder stock, propeller, and shaft. Flagged Maltese commercial, VAT paid, and lying Valencia, Spain.
