Overview

2001 Cabo 47 Convertible

A pedigreed blend of sportfishing muscle and refined cruising comfort, this 47-foot Cabo Convertible embodies the performance, craftsmanship, and bluewater poise that made Cabo a legend. With a broad 15-foot beam, robust fiberglass construction, and twin MAN diesel inboards, she delivers the confident ride and quiet strength discerning owners expect—equally at home chasing pelagics offshore or weekending in refined comfort with family and friends.

Offered for sale due to the owner’s passing, the yacht has the timeless proportions and purposeful deck plan that define a true convertible. From the flybridge command center, visibility is superb for docking, navigating tight inlets, and working a spread offshore. The cockpit’s generous footprint is designed for action, with clean sightlines, secure coamings, and thoughtful ergonomics that make long days on the water effortless and rewarding.

Underway, the Cabo’s hull rewards with a dry, composed ride and impressive range. The twin MAN inboards provide a lively 27-knot cruising speed and up to 33 knots on tap, backed by a substantial 900-gallon fuel capacity for extended runs to the grounds. Responsive, predictable handling inspires confidence in a variety of sea states, while the yacht’s build quality—solid fiberglass and proven engineering—speaks to durability and long-term value.

Inside, the salon welcomes with the warm, understated luxury that made Cabo interiors so sought-after: abundant natural light, comfortable seating, and a practical, seagoing layout that balances elegance with resilience. A well-equipped galley supports entertaining with ease, and the two-head arrangement ensures privacy and convenience for owners and guests alike. With 100 gallons of fresh water on board and intelligently appointed accommodations, she’s set for long weekends and quick getaways without compromise.

Based in the United States and ready for her next chapter, this Cabo 47 is that rare find: a pre-owned, flybridge convertible sportfishing yacht with twin MAN diesel power, bluewater pedigree, and the versatility to serve as both an offshore performer and a refined cruiser. For owners who value substance, seakeeping, and classic lines over fleeting trends, she delivers the complete package—Sportfishing. Convertible. Flybridge. Offshore. Bluewater. Diesel. Inboard. Fiberglass. United States.

Detailed Description

Deck

On deck, a Fortress FX-37 anchor sits on the bow pulpit and is handled by a Lewmar windlass, backed by 15' of chain and 200' of 5/8" rode for confident holds in varied bottoms. A Quicklift electric dinghy davit simplifies tender handling, while the transom door, secure bow rails, and a timeless teak and holly sole throughout elevate both safety and style. Daily operations are made effortless by a pressure freshwater and saltwater washdown system, and night passages are assured with compliant navigation lights, an ACR RCL-100 remote-controlled searchlight, and bright spreader lights.

Fishing equipment

Tournament pedigree shows in the cockpit, where a Murray Brothers fighting chair with rocket launcher anchors a purposeful layout. Two in-deck fish boxes with macerators pair with a transom live baitwell, while a cockpit bait freezer and sink keep the spread fresh and the workflow efficient. Rupp triple-spreader outriggers are complemented by a matching Rupp center rigger, and refined indirect rope lighting traces the cockpit. After dark, two blue underwater lights and ten Lumitec tri-color lights beneath the cockpit overhang and at the helm set the perfect scene for night bites and safe maneuvering.

Electronics

At the helm, a Garmin 5212 chart plotter pairs with a Garmin 8215 series display (7/2017) and a Garmin/Airmar 2 kW transducer for confident navigation and sounder performance, all steered by a Simrad AP44 autopilot (7/2017). Communications are covered by a Horizon Intrepid VHF in the salon and a Garmin VHF on the bridge (1/2018). Redundancy and feel come via hydraulic wheel steering, with a Ritchie compass on the bridge and a Danforth compass in the tower, and an assertive horn for signaling. Entertainment is equally elevated: an upgraded bridge stereo drives JL Audio speakers in both bridge and cockpit, augmented by additional JL Audio components, a Bose Lifestyle System, and RCA TV tuners. A Samsung TV serves the salon, a Sony TV/VCR equips the master, and Vimar alarm clocks grace both master and guest staterooms.

Vessel walkthrough

The master stateroom spans the bow with a walkaround queen berth, generous under-berth drawers, and hanging lockers for extended-cruise readiness. To port, two full heads each feature separate stall showers; one opens directly to the master, the second opens to the companionway for guest convenience. The guest cabin is cleverly arranged with upper and lower berths along the starboard side and a full berth mid-cabin, striking a rare balance of privacy and capacity. A space-saving washer/dryer combo is neatly tucked in the companionway. In the salon, the galley-up layout showcases Corian countertops and Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer drawers, while the dinette and entertainment center reside to starboard. An inviting L-shaped settee conceals rod storage, and the starboard side also houses the electrical panel and an icemaker. Outside, the cockpit delivers a full tackle center with freezer, direct access to the engine room, two in-deck fish boxes, a fighting chair with rocket launcher, and a transom livewell. Above, the bridge presents a well-arranged, fully equipped helm with supportive ladder-back helm seats for confident passage making and clear visibility.

Galley

Thoughtfully equipped for life aboard, the galley features a Sub-Zero refrigerator with freezer, a two-burner electric cooktop, and a Sharp Carousel microwave oven, while a deep sink with disposal and a Head Hunter freshwater pump keep prep seamless. Hot and cold dockside freshwater service is on tap, supported by an 11-gallon water heater. Daily living is simplified by a Splendide Combomatic washer/dryer and a central vacuum system, and entertaining is effortless with a dedicated Raritan icemaker.

Electrical

Robust shipboard power includes 110 V AC and 24 V DC electrical systems, energized by an Onan 11 kW generator (8/2017). A 50-amp Sentry automatic battery charger, a battery parallel switch, and six batteries provide resilient storage and management, while Glendinning Cablemaster shore cables make hookups neat, safe, and effortless.

Engine room

Performance comes from twin 800 hp MAN D2848LE403 engines mated to ZF Marine transmissions, with Glendinning electronic controls at the bridge, tower, and cockpit for precise authority in any station. Engine health and harmony are monitored and managed by MAN electronic engine monitoring, Glendinning engine synchronizers, and Glendinning trolling valves, while hydraulic trim is dialed in via Bennett trim tabs. Cruisair air conditioners with SMXII controls keep the interior climate serene. Reliability is built in with freshwater cooling, raw-water sea strainers, Racor dual fuel filters, and a Reverso oil change unit. Safety and service are paramount thanks to an automatic Halon fire extinguishing system, a 28-gallon waste holding tank, two bilge blowers, four automatic bilge pumps, a smoke alarm, dripless shaft seals, a comprehensive gauge panel, engine hour meters, and thorough engine-room sound insulation, plus an emergency pump on the starboard engine for added redundancy.
