Overview
Conceived by acclaimed designer Philippe Pouvreau in collaboration with Dolphin Catamarans, the Dolphin 380 redefines the premier compact performance cruising catamaran—a refined, modern sailing multihull crafted for elegance and pace.
Uniting generous liveaboard comfort with agile, rewarding handling, the Dolphin 380 delivers a rare blend of accommodations, sailing performance, and build integrity in its size class—ideal for extended passages and bluewater cruising. A bright salon with a well-appointed galley, three inviting cabins, and a wide, social cockpit elevate life at sea.
Built to the brand’s proven standard, the hulls are hand‑laid and vacuum‑bagged fiberglass with vinyl‑ester resin over Divinycell foam cores, creating a light, stiff structure with durability and longevity that outclasses typical production multihulls.
A standout entry in the luxury cruising catamaran, performance cruiser, and offshore sailing yacht categories, this versatile sailing catamaran promises a capable, comfortable platform for coastal exploration and ocean crossings alike.
Detailed Description
Overview
Command the wind with a natural‑anodized aluminum rig, artfully handcrafted in Brazil: an aluminum mast and matching boom are paired with a fore beam and dolphin striker finished to the same standard, all tuned by a Windex wind indicator and a Harken genoa furler. Power comes easy with a full‑batten mainsail carrying 55 m in Nordac cloth with two reefing lines (sails by North Sails), smoothly traveling on a Harken batten‑car system and rail. Forward, a furling genoa in Nordac of 33 m with UV protection (also from North Sails) unfurls with poise and control.
Precision running rigging is specified for reliable, fingertip handling: a two‑to‑one main halyard, a one‑to‑one spinnaker and genoa polyester halyard, two polyester reefing and outhaul lines, genoa and main sheets in polyester, and dedicated davit polyester sheets.
On deck, every detail serves both elegance and purpose. Eight deck cleats, Lexan windows, hatches, and portlights frame a secure, naturally lit platform. An ST46 electric winch sits alongside Harken genoa cars, blocks, tracks, and stoppers, supported by Harken sheaves and blocks for low‑friction efficiency. A winch handle and neatly placed winch pockets keep the cockpit orderly, while running lights (BB, BE and stern) and steaming lights make the yacht unmistakable after dusk. Comfort touches abound, from a cockpit shower with cold water and a laminated cockpit table to stainless‑steel davits rated for a tender up to 300 pounds. Ground tackle inspires confidence with a 15 kg Bruce‑type anchor and 60 meters of 8 mm chain supported by a 12 V electric anchor windlass for 8 mm chain. A swimming ladder eases water access, a soft, comfortable trampoline invites relaxation, and a foam‑cushioned pilot seat for two presides over a dedicated panel for instruments. Practical necessities are thoughtfully integrated with a water deck filler and water tank.
Steering is reassuringly direct with a hydraulic system complemented by an emergency tiller for ultimate redundancy.
Twin 29 hp Volvo saildrive engines spin two fixed‑blade Volvo propellers, backed by complete engine panels with rev counters and hour meters. Reliable starts and smooth operation are ensured by a 60 Ah battery for each engine, one blower in each engine room, two fuel‑filter/water separators, a fiberglass fuel tank with fuel deck filler, and comprehensive sound protection in the engine rooms.
Inside the salon, high‑quality cushions surround a wood table and an integrated galley, while an aluminum sliding door with glass windows opens to fresh horizons. Power is at hand with a 110 V and USB outlet.
The galley is fully equipped for extended cruising: a 110 V refrigerator and 110 V freezer, a four‑burner GLP cooker, a GLP oven, hot and cold water, a double stainless‑steel sink, generous cabinets and drawers, and a 110 V and USB outlet.
At the helm station, Raymarine Element 7S electronics present GPS, speed, depth, and wind data at a glance, supported by VHF and a compass.
In the cabins, thick, high‑quality mattresses promise deep rest, complemented by 110 V and USB outlets, one in each cabin, and a well‑appointed cabinet.
In the heads, hot and cold water for the shower, cold water at the sink, smart storage, an electric water closet, and a 110 V outlet, one in each head, deliver hotel‑style ease at sea.
Plumbing is robust and sea‑ready with pressurized hot and cold water, a pressurized freshwater pump, and one 30 L water heater at 110 V with engine line for heating.
Electrical systems are specified for autonomy and safety: 450 Ah of service‑only battery capacity, a shore power inlet at 110 V/30 Amp, a 110 V outlet and USB in each cabin, an 1800 Watts inverter (12 V to 110 V) paired with a 100 Ah battery charger with remote panel, and a battery isolator for proper management.
For those who desire even more, a curated suite of additional options is available: Antifouling Cooper Colt; AC Marine Air at 10,000 Btu, 16,000 Btu, and 6,000 Btu (needs genset); a bimini at the helm station; an upgrade to a 45 L water heater; a deck shower with hot and cold water; a 75 L per hour watermaker (needs genset); a mast light for the deck; Genset Onan 5 Kwa and Genset Onan 7.5 Kwa; an aluminum bowsprit; an upgrade to three‑blade folding Volvo props; an Ice Maker (needs genset); a Kit Screecher including sail NS, furling, two manual winches, blocks, stopper, halyard, and sheets; a reading light for each cabin; a cockpit table in teak; a Raymarine hydraulic autopilot; a solar panel delivering around 900w; an upgrade to Raymarine AXIOM 9 electronic with radar; an upgrade to Volvo 50 hp for both engines; and a toilet head with fresh water, each.
