Detailed Description

Manufacturer provided description

At a length of 24 meters, the Ferretti 780 reveals an entirely innovative interior layout that guarantees an abundance of living space while elevating onboard comfort. Refined teak finishes replace the traditional cherry typically found on yachts of this size, lending a brighter, contemporary character. The design choice to integrate the access ladder to the flybridge within the yacht’s wall structure creates an uninterrupted sightline from the aft deck forward, visually expanding the conversational lounge that features a pair of modern, opposing sofas. Light-colored finishes underscore the yacht’s spirited personality, while expansive window structures invite a close connection with the sea, turning the full-beam master cabin and its bathroom into a haven of elegance bathed in ocean vistas. A teak-clad aft garage further enhances the open-air lifestyle, offering flexible use of space and facilitating an effortless descent into the water.

Overview

This 780 is a standout example of diligent ownership, maintained meticulously under an open-checkbook policy and presenting in excellent condition, more akin to a new yacht than her model year suggests. A custom radar/satellite mast can be lowered to clear low fixed bridges, making this one of the very few eighty-foot yachts capable of completing the Great Loop and reaching otherwise hard-to-access waterways. Just forward of the mast, the flybridge accommodates jet ski stowage served by a Besenzoni davit, a generous dining table, and multiple sun-lounging areas that invite day-long relaxation. Below, the layout provides four guest staterooms, including a large full-beam master suite with expansive hull-side windows that frame sweeping sea views, while two crew cabins aft of the engine room—each with two bunks—ensure professional service and privacy underway. A particularly appealing feature is the expansive swim platform and garage, accessed via transom stairs on either side; when the transom door opens, the garage is revealed and the platform lowers to water level, with capacity sufficient to house a small tender and transform the stern into a private waterside terrace.

Additional features

Every detail on board elevates comfort and usability, from four underwater light fixtures set into the transom and two additional underwater fixtures beneath the master cabin windows, to a flybridge settee with storage beneath and two integrated sun pads that invite extended lounging. The main salon features an electric high/low television cabinet and an Isotherm refrigerator, while the flybridge wet bar is appointed with a Wolf electric grill and protected by a sleek plexiglass windscreen. Sun worshippers will appreciate the integrated foredeck sun pad, as well as teak decking on both the foredeck and aft deck, where bench seating with a dining table sets the stage for al fresco meals. The aft deck further benefits from a Raritan ice maker, an aft-opening salon window that connects indoor and outdoor spaces, floodlights for the swim platform, and an integrated sink with dedicated storage. Practical stowage solutions continue with an integrated transom locker, a 250 Volt / 100 Amp Glendinning Cablemaster and telephone/television shore fitting in the transom, plus an electric exterior entrance door to the galley. In the master cabin, a vanity and a safe within the closet complement the comforts, while bidets are fitted in the master head and guest heads alike. For crew efficiency, a Bosch washer and dryer are located in the crew companionway.

Safety is comprehensively addressed with emergency flares, a first aid kit, life jackets comprising two adult Type I and ten adult Type II, a life ring, a life raft, and an EPIRB. Fire protection and washdowns include ten 2 1/2 lb dry chemical portable extinguishers, fixed BSCO FE‑227 systems in both the engine room and inside the main electrical panel, and a fresh water washdown system with stations in the engine room and on the foredeck.

Engine room

Power is delivered by two MTU 12V2000CR diesel main engines, each reportedly producing 1,220 kW, mounted on fiberglass stringers and turning two bronze five‑blade propellers via approximately 3 1/2" stainless steel shafts. Factory recommended RPMs are 650 at idle, 2000 for cruise, and 2450 at loaded maximum. The engines are fresh‑water cooled, with primary Racor fuel filters and electric fuel pumps, and the exhaust runs from stainless risers to hose and fiberglass fittings either to the hull bottom for running or via hose to the transom for idle, with salt water cooling the exhaust. Power is transmitted through ZF V‑Drive ZF2050V gearboxes. Climate control is by Marine Air chilled water system with two compressors providing 96,000 BTU. Domestic hot water comes from a Raritan172002 electric heater rated at 20 gallons. A Watermakers unit provides fresh water independence, and oil changes are handled by manual pumps servicing the main engines and gears.

Mechanical

Power generation is provided by Kohler generators in sound shields, two units of diesel model 23EFOZD, serial numbers Port - 2137871 and Starboard - 2137869, each operating at a factory‑recommended 1800 RPM with four cylinders, fresh‑water cooling, fiberglass exhaust silencers, and salt‑water‑cooled exhaust, delivering 20.0 kW at 120/240 volts, 60 hertz, single phase. Battery systems are supported by chargers including two Charles 24 Volt / 55 Amp, a Charles 24 Volt / 40 Amp, a Charles 12 Volt / 20 Amp, and a Chares 24 Volt / 30 Amp. The main engines are served by four 12‑volt batteries configured for a 24‑volt system; the generators by two 12‑volt batteries for a 12‑volt system; the house bank by four 12‑volt batteries for a 24‑volt system; and the electronics draw 24 volts off the main engine bank. Lighting voltage spans 24‑volt DC and 110‑volt AC, and electrolysis protection is provided by a bonding system.

Tank information

Fuel is carried in a single diesel tank of approximately 1,559 gallons, shaped to the hull and constructed of fiberglass, located at the forward bulkhead of the engine room and plumbed with USCG Type A1 fuel hose. Fresh water is stored across four tanks of approximately 349 gallons total capacity, shaped to the hull, constructed of plastic, and located under the master cabin sole on the centerline. Black water holding is managed by one tank of approximately 125 gallons, shaped to the hull, constructed of plastic, and located under the guest companionway sole on the centerline. Grey water holding is provided by one tank of approximately 45 gallons, likewise shaped to the hull, constructed of plastic, and located under the master cabin sole on the centerline.

Design

Evolution is the keynote of nearly half a century of Ferretti Yachts design and vision, driven by continual research and innovation to meet each owner’s unique expectations for comfort, style, navigation, and safety at sea—an approach embodied by the new Ferretti Yachts 780. The 780’s aerodynamic form comes alive through clean shapes and sleek lines, accentuated by resizing the height of the hull’s topsides to underscore the yacht’s athletic character. Its assertive stance is heightened by the interplay between fiberglass elements and expansive glass surfaces. The hull design, in particular, adopts the signature trio of windows aligned with the guest cabins, a stylistic cue shared with the Ferretti Yachts 450 and 550. In the superstructure, the language of over‑80‑foot flybridge yachts is echoed at the forward and side sections of the command station. A defining innovation lies astern, where the new door operating system turns the stern into a true beach club: once the tailgate is fully opened, the area transforms into an extraordinary waterside lounge, bringing guests to the very edge of the sea.
