Overview
Crafted in Durban by G-Wind Marine to an Anton du Toit design, this 2014, 53-foot aluminum sailing catamaran blends expedition-grade strength with refined comfort. Her marine‑grade aluminum hull and deck deliver the rare combination of resilience, low‑maintenance ownership, and confidence-inspiring safety—exactly what discerning bluewater cruisers demand from a true performance multihull.
With a beam of 26 feet, she offers the poise, stability, and volume that make long passages effortless and life at anchor a joy. The wide platform promises generous deck spaces for relaxed living and secure movement underway, while the purposeful, contemporary lines speak to Du Toit’s reputation for yachts that are fast, balanced, and beautifully composed.
Twin Yanmar diesel saildrives provide reliable, economical propulsion and easy close‑quarters handling, offering the redundancy offshore sailors value. Quiet strength and predictable performance define her character, whether reaching across open ocean or threading through a coral anchorage. The aluminum construction adds the peace of mind of impact resistance and the practicality of straightforward global serviceability—ideal for an expedition yacht designed to roam.
On board, the ambiance is airy and inviting, with abundant natural light and thoughtfully arranged living spaces that suit both passagemaking and extended stays in remote anchorages. Two well-appointed heads elevate comfort for owners and guests alike, supported by generous storage and an uncluttered, seamanlike layout that keeps daily life simple and elegant.
Currently lying in Tanzania, she is perfectly placed for the Indian Ocean’s legendary cruising grounds—from Zanzibar to the Seychelles and beyond. Whether your plans lean toward an adventurous circumnavigation or a luxurious liveaboard lifestyle, this aluminum catamaran stands ready: a luxury yacht with the soul of a bluewater cruiser, built to cross oceans and to savor every horizon.

Detailed Description
About
Conceived by Anton Du Toit and built in Durban by G-Wind Marine from marine‑grade aluminum, this is the so‑called “poor man’s Gun Boat”: rigid and light, with narrow, easily driven, sleek hulls that deliver incisive performance. A large, same‑level bridgedeck saloon flows into a galley and bar area with an internal helm station, while a generously protected, shaded cockpit invites effortless outdoor living. Seating for 10 gathers around a substantial teak table, under which a dedicated 80 l beer fridge awaits. Above, a masthead towers 24 meters (79') over the water, carrying a powerful yet easily controlled rig: three furling headsails and a square‑top, fully battened mainsail, all in a new radial‑cut North Sails wardrobe. She readily runs 200 nm‑plus days and settles into an easy 10 knots of boat speed in 14 knots of breeze. Designed to tread lightly, every onboard system runs on 24 V DC, fed by 1.4 kW of solar and 600 W of wind generation—so even your hot shower is solar powered. The watermaker turns sunlight into independence, producing fresh water at 80 l/h. Tried and tested over 5,500 nm in the Indian Ocean in the last 10 months, she now comes to market as her owner completes his next big boat project.
Overview
Dimensions and construction speak to purposeful performance: length 16 m (53'), beam 8 m (26'), draft 1.2 m with keels, and displacement 18 tons, all in Marine Grade 5083 aluminum. Designed by Anton Du Toit and built by G-Wind Marine in South Africa, the yacht was launched in December 2014; at one year old she had already logged 4,500 nm and is currently lying in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The 24‑volt architecture is comprehensive and robust. Propulsion is by Yanmar 54 hp engines with SD60 saildrives, supplemented by two additional Belmar 80‑amp 24 V alternators, all housed in dedicated, sound‑proofed, vented engine rooms. Glendenning dual engine controls provide smooth fly‑by‑wire command. Fuel is held in twin diesel tanks (480 liters).
The rig and sail plan are optimized for pace and control: a 21 m aluminum double‑spreader mast pairs with an 8 m Park Avenue boom and stack pack. The entire wardrobe is by North, Norlam radial cut: a 120 m² full‑batten square‑top mainsail running on an Antal batt‑car system with slab reefing; a 70 m² radial genoa on a 24 V electric furler; a 30 m² radial staysail on a manual furler; and a 120 m² Stormlite Code 0 on a continuous‑line furler.
Electrics are centered on a 24 V backbone with main distribution and six sub‑distribution boards, 800 Ah of house batteries at 24 V, and a 3 kW Victron inverter‑charger. Harvested energy includes 1,200 W of solar via two MPPT controllers and 600 W of 24 V wind generation with charge controller, all overseen by comprehensive battery monitoring and power management.
Navigation and control are assured by a cohesive Garmin suite: twin Glass Helm 8012 plotters, GMR 18 radar, AIS 600, VHF, GWS 10 sailing instruments, GSD 24 fish finder/depth sounder, and an Auto Helm Class B Drive. Mechanical systems include a 12 V vehicle winch for raising and lowering the dive platform, a Lewmar V4 24 V windlass with chain counter, 100 m of 12 mm chain and a 40 kg Delta anchor, a 6 m curved powered traveler track with car, three Lewmar Evo 65 EST 24 V powered winches, Antal blocks, sheaves, organizers and sail hardware, Spinlock jammers, and a DC‑24 V RO watermaker rated at 100 l/h.
The four‑cabin layout prioritizes volume and privacy: two separate electric heads and two separate shower rooms serve the accommodations. The galley is “up” in the large saloon alongside a duplicate internal helm station, with a bar counter and six stools and an inside/outside wet bar. A large aft‑cockpit table anchors the social heart, complemented by an upstairs dedicated helm station under a large bimini cover. Forward, two separate crew cabins occupy the bows.
The portside galley opens into the cockpit and features a four‑burner gas hob, under‑counter gas oven, sink with draining board, hot and cold fresh water, a salt‑water tap, and a dedicated 80 l stainless‑steel 24 V fridge and freezer, plus a pot drawer, ample cabinetry, and a refuse bin. To starboard, the bar area also opens into the cockpit and carries a 120 l stainless‑steel top‑loading bar fridge (20 V), a Fusion music system with three zones and two amps, and generous under‑counter storage with a refuse bin.
In the aft cockpit, a large table seats 10. Curved fixed seating incorporates storage, while an 80 l 24 V beer fridge sits beneath the cockpit table. A 5×1.2 m dive platform can be lowered to water level, transforming the transom into a private beach. Plumbing is equally thorough: a 2 m² solar hot‑water panel with solar circulating pump feeds a 100 l insulated hot‑water vessel; four Rule 24 V bilge pumps (two in the bilges, two in the engine rooms) handle dewatering; two Rule fresh‑water pumps and a salt‑water washdown pump are fitted; two electric toilets offer salt or fresh‑water flush to holding tanks; two separate shower cubicles deliver hot and cold water; and interlinked in‑hull water tanks provide 2×500 l of storage.
The entertainment package centers on a Fusion 7000 music system with three zones and two amps, driving 7" marine speakers and a 10" subwoofer, with coverage in the saloon, cockpit, upstairs helm station, and day bed. Natural light and ventilation come through LEWMAR medium‑profile hatches (2×700, 4×600) and LEWMAR portlights sized 18×600×200.
