Overview

The non‑flybridge counterpart to the ILIAD 53F, winner of the 2024 Multihull of the Year.

The ILIAD 53E is a pioneering hybrid-electric power catamaran that elevates sustainable luxury yachting. Its advanced e‑Motion propulsion delivers both parallel and series‑hybrid modes, dramatically reducing CO2 emissions, running noise, and routine maintenance while unlocking vast living spaces and refined, yacht‑grade craftsmanship. A robust 8,000‑watt solar array supports silent operation and house systems, reinforcing its eco‑conscious profile. Intelligent energy management shifts seamlessly between electric and diesel power for optimal efficiency, long‑range autonomy, and dependable redundancy. With up to 30% lower fuel consumption than conventional motor yachts and markedly less vibration, the 53E offers whisper‑quiet passages and serene nights at anchor—perfect for bluewater cruising, remote exploration, and environmentally sensitive waters. This luxury motor catamaran balances performance, sustainability, and comfort, delivering the stability of a multihull, the independence of an explorer yacht, and the practicality of a liveaboard long‑range passagemaker in a sleek, non‑flybridge design.

If you’re comparing Sunreef, Leopard, Lagoon, Horizon, Aquila, Two Oceans, Fountaine Pajot, or Longreach, you’ll be impressed by the 53E’s build quality, range, and expansive interiors—an exceptional alternative in the premium hybrid yacht, power catamaran, and eco‑friendly multihull categories.

Detailed Description

Structural materials

The hull’s bottom and sides are crafted in a GRP sandwich with a PVC core of 80–100 kg/m3, delivering stiffness and impact resistance with notable weight savings. The main deck and deckhouse continue this advanced composite approach in GRP sandwich with a 60 kg/m3 PVC core. All hull laminates are executed in premium vinylester resin for superior osmotic protection, while all other laminates employ polyester isophthalic resin. Primary laminates are meticulously built by infusion, with GRP stiffeners hand‑laid over PVC formers directly onto the shell laminates for unwavering structural integrity. A white DSM gelcoat presents a flawless finish. The main deck’s structural cabin sole is also in GRP sandwich. Watertight and structural bulkheads are in GRP sandwich with a PVC core of 80 kg/m3, while partition bulkheads are in marine plywood, each bulkhead securely fastened to the shell by lamination. Independence and durability are assured by aluminium 5052 tanks for fuel and freshwater alike, with grey and black water tankage also in aluminium 5052.

Engine room and marine systems

Climate on board is mastered by a Climma CWS air‑conditioning system delivering 65,000 BTU with inverter efficiency, complemented by a QuickSpa water heater of 60 L/16 gal. Manoeuvring confidence comes from one bow thruster. The engine rooms are accessed via a hatch on the main deck and insulated with Pyrotek Sorberbarrier materials. Robust bonding is achieved by a 4 x 32 mm copper strip. Propulsion architecture includes two shaft‑drive gearboxes, two shafts in stainless duplex steel with a GRP sterntube and shaft seal, and two rudders in 316L stainless steel with an aerofoil section, driving two Cu3 propellers with four fixed blades. Effortless control is ensured by Sea Star Optimus electronic power steering, while mufflers quiet the main engines and generator. Ventilation is engineered with two engine‑room air inlets featuring moisture eliminators and two air blowers for forced ventilation, supported by four fire dampers with remote shut‑off. Safety and reliability are strengthened by two Seafire automatic fire‑suppression systems with heat sensors and alarms, two engine fuel filters and a dedicated genset fuel filter, a fuel transfer pump, and Trident 365 fuel hose. House systems include eight bilge pumps distributed throughout the yacht with high‑water alarms, two freshwater pumps plumbed in parallel for redundancy, three grey‑water sump pumps and tank, dedicated macerator pumps for grey and black water, two deck wash points at the cockpit and bow, two engine‑room cameras, and one docking camera.

Electronics

Navigation and awareness are entrusted to an autopilot with Raymarine P70 control head and a pair of Raymarine Axiom Pro 16" multifunction displays. The suite is completed by a Raymarine i70, echo sounder, and GPS RS 130, with a full Raymarine backbone and cabling. Communications are provided by AIS with antenna and VHF with antenna. Anglers benefit from the Raymarine fish‑finder sensor CP 100 with CPT 120, while situational awareness is elevated by the Raymarine Radar FLIR Quantum Q24C. For anchoring precision, a chain counter is fitted at the helm station.

Electrical system

Energy autonomy is anchored by twenty 400‑watt solar panels delivering a total of 8,000 watts, feeding a bonded electrical system with ground plate. Ship systems operate on 24 VDC and 220/110 VAC. Starting power comes from two AGM gel‑type engine start batteries at 150 Ah, while a 24 V 400 Ah lithium house bank supplies hotel loads. Power conversion is handled by a Victron Orion 24/12‑40 converter, with BEP circuit breakers and fuses safeguarding every circuit. Illumination is all‑LED, with Quick Spa fixtures inside and out, and Hella Marine navigation and anchor lights. Distribution is centralized through AC/DC main switchboard panels, supported by two 50 A shore power cords (Marinco) and 220 V/110 V Vimar sockets throughout.

Exterior outfitting

Aft, a teak folding‑edge cockpit table anchors convivial gatherings, complemented by a 24 V horn, a remote dash‑controlled searchlight, and a Glomex TV antenna. Six fenders and mooring lines stand ready for secure berthing. The underwater body is protected with a primer coat and black antifouling, while Propspeed safeguards shafts and propellers. Structural integrity includes a hull structural keel, with Lewmar flush Mitre size 1 hull portlights and a stainless‑steel cap rub‑rail along the hull side. On deck, Lewmar Mitre flush hatches in size 44 and a large windshield hatch on the main deck ensure abundant light and airflow. Hardware includes stainless‑steel mooring cleats at 13", two stainless‑steel bollards at 15", and a 24 V vertical Quick windlass rated at 2000 W with deck switches. Safety and comfort come via 316L stainless‑steel handrails and stainless‑steel cockpit stern gates, plus two hot/cold shower faucets positioned at the port and starboard transom steps. A Swissway swim ladder with Carina railing, telescopic 3+2, is transom‑hidden and flush mounted. Forward, two stainless‑steel bow pulpits with teak seats beckon, while all outdoor cushions are tailored in Sunbrella fabric. All GRP non‑skid areas are molded into the laminate, and synthetic teak graces the cockpit, stairs, and boarding platform. Ground tackle features a Lewmar DTX 40 kg/88 lb anchor with 60 m/196 ft of 10 mm/3/8" short‑link chain. Handling the tender is effortless with a stainless‑steel davit lifting system and 250 kg electric winch. The cockpit cabinet adds utility with dedicated storage, a 37 L stainless‑steel bin, and a stainless‑steel electric grill under a protective hatch. At night, six Aqualuma underwater lights in blue or white transform the scene.

Interior outfitting

At the heart of the main deck, the helm station presents full engine instrumentation, a windscreen wiper, and a double Besenzoni Dragonfly adjustable helm seat with fore‑and‑aft travel, complemented by comprehensive engine controls and displays, a tilt‑adjustable steering wheel, and a magnetic compass. A practical side shelf doubles as an office desk, and a dedicated windscreen wiper further enhances visibility in adverse weather. Entertainment is immersive with a Fusion system featuring two speakers in the saloon and cockpit with remote control, amplifier, and subwoofer. An electric TV lift in the saloon accommodates a 50" screen (not standard). The galley is appointed with a fridge‑freezer, an induction hob, and an oven‑microwave combination, while a drawer fridge serves the cockpit. Interior safety and elegance converge with 316L stainless‑steel handrails and Solid Surface LG HI‑MACS countertops in the galley and bathrooms, supported by BLUM drawer systems and cabinet hinges. Underfoot, parquet‑laminate flooring finishes the main deck galley/dinette, with teak flooring in all bathrooms. Furniture and interior décor are beautifully realized in timber veneer, with ceiling and wall panels upholstered in synthetic leather; sofas and seats are trimmed in Ultraleather by Ultrafabrics. The saloon is centered around a coffee table with two ottomans, while the dinette offers a table with two stools and drawer storage beneath the sofa. A liquor cabinet is integrated into the galley counter when Galley Option A is selected. Tactile richness includes dark leather at the main‑deck helm station and above the TV cabinet. Light control is effortless with manual blinds on all hull windows and electric blinds on the main‑deck windows (excluding the sliding cockpit door). Restful nights are ensured by memory‑foam mattresses. Practical details abound: a stainless‑steel galley sink with hot/cold faucet, a hood above the hob, air extraction fans in all bathrooms, Planus electric toilets with macerator, ceramic washbasins, Kohler bathroom and shower fixtures, and a space‑saving combination washer/dryer. Each bathroom features a separate shower stall with teak grating, while carpeting softens the lower decks and the forward saloon on the main deck.
