Anchoring

Confident anchoring is assured by a Maxwell VWC 4500 hydraulic windlass with band brake, paired with a Maxwell chain stopper to manage 107 m (350') of 16mm (5/8") stud link chain. Machinery and engine room

Power comes from twin MTU Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines, each a 14 liter inline six, turbocharged and delivering a continuous duty rating of 400 hp at 1850 rpm, paired with Twin Disk gearboxes. The port main engine shows 11,900 hours as of April 2022, as does the starboard main engine. Electrical charging is handled by two 24 volt alternators rated at 175 amps each, while fuel protection is ensured by Racor duplex 75-900 MAX filters on each engine complemented by an additional transfer filter, and rope cutters are fitted. At a comfortable cruising speed of 8.0 knots at 1150 rpm, consumption is 3.80 liters per nautical mile, with a maximum wide-open-throttle speed of 11.5 knots and a cruise speed range of 4,473 nautical miles plus bladders for additional mileage. The engine electronic control system (DDEC) provides stations in the pilothouse as the primary, on the flybridge, at the aft deck/cockpit transom on the starboard side, at port and starboard wing controls on the Portuguese bridge, and in the engine room.

Electrical power underway and at anchor is delivered by a Northern Lights M1064D rated at 33KW 240/416 vac / 50Hz 3-phase with 4,700 hours, complemented by a Northern Lights M864W rated at 20KW 240/416 vac / 50Hz 3-phase with 8,000 hours.

Climate control is assured by reverse cycle modular tempering units, with two Cruisair model MTC48DC units each rated at 48,000 BTUs per hour for a total capacity of 96,000 BTUs per hour, equal to eight tons of refrigeration, distributed through eight air handlers supplying all areas, and complemented by Kabola diesel heating throughout.

The hydraulic system, designed by ABT and powered by PTO pumps on both main engines, drives the bow and stern thrusters, stabilizers, anchor windlasses, anchor and chain wash, and the emergency bilge pump. Stabilization is via an ABT/TRAC 370 digital system with kelp cutters. The bow thruster is an ABT 50 hp unit with proportional controls at five stations (not engine room), and the stern thruster is an ABT 38 hp unit with proportional controls at five stations (not engine room).

Quiet operation is achieved through hull damping insulation above the propeller rotation plane, with engine room bulkheads and ceiling treated with 7.6 cm of 3M Thinsulate and Soundown panels, plus additional insulation in the galley and saloon flooring, engine room hatches, and the exhaust system.

Fire protection is comprehensive, with a full Seafire system throughout the vessel re certified in 2024, automatic shutdown in the engine room and automatic discharge in the lazarette and forward bilge compartment, dedicated engine room and lazarette intake and exhaust blower systems, and fire/smoke dampers that automatically stop blowers upon Seafire actuation.

Directional authority comes from a dual rudder Kobelt hydraulic steering system with dual twin-arm tiller rams and twin pumps.

Generators

The yacht is equipped with two Northern Lights generators, meticulously maintained to ensure dependable, whisper-quiet power underway and at anchor. The first is one Northern Lights 33 kVA unit showing approximately 4,600 hours, with recent works including a full service, the heat exchanger removed and serviced, and the raw water pump assembly renewed. Complementing it is one Northern Lights 20 kVA unit with approximately 8,000 hours, which has likewise benefited from a full service, the heat exchanger removed and serviced, and the raw water pump assembly renewed.

Hydraulics and stabilization

Commanding poise at sea is assured by the ABT TRAC Digital Stabilization System, supported by a comprehensive hydraulic network that powers the stabilizers, the bow thruster, the stern thruster, the windlasses, the chain wash system, and the emergency bilge system. Meticulous major works underscore recent stewardship: in 2024 the stabilizers underwent a complete overhaul, bearings were replaced, rams received full service, hydraulic oils were renewed, and the fin shafts were subjected to non-destructive testing (NDT) with no cracking detected. Building on this, in 2025 both the bow thruster and the stern thruster were overhauled and new seals were fitted.

Electronics

In the pilothouse, navigation is anchored by two Furuno TimeZero systems, new in 2018, with all charts except Alaska added in 2023, displayed across four Furuno 19-inch color monitors also new in 2018. Radar coverage is provided by a Furuno DRS12A 12 kW 8 ft open array and a Furuno 6 kW 4 ft open array, while a retractable Furuno 360-degree sonar with motion sensor and CH 252 control unit expands situational awareness. Instrumentation includes Furuno wind instruments, a Furuno RD 30, a Furuno GP39 standalone GPS, and a Furuno GP39 compass replacement. Safety and traffic data flow through a Furuno FA-1501 AIS receiver and transponder. Steering precision comes from two Simrad AP50 autopilot systems driven by two Acusteer HRP150 autopilot pumps and managed by two Simrad J-50 course computers. Communications are covered by one Icom IC-M601 VHF, one Icom M605 VHF, and an Icom IC-802 SSB, supported by a SAT data outlet. Visual oversight is enhanced by cameras in the cockpit, engine room, and a deck facing aft, complemented by a dual-station camera serving the engine room and aft deck. Entertainment and connectivity are further supported by a KVH TracVision G6 with multi switch and a KVH Fleet F55 dome. A VEI computer is linked to the Furuno network for redundancy, with the main PC also linked, and convenient 12 volt outlets are close at hand.

On the flybridge, a single Furuno 15-inch color monitor pairs with B&G H1000 wind and instruments, a Simrad AP50 control head, and an Icom IC-M604 VHF extension, with both a 12 volt outlet and 240 volt outlets for power on demand.

Onboard entertainment is seamless, with a Bose Lifestyle 28 system throughout the vessel and flat screens in the saloon and all cabins.

The supply reservoir sump is the lowest point of the fuel system and incorporates an alarm system with provision for physical fuel checking. Sight glass gauges are fitted to the two engine room tanks, and the forward tanks received new glass in 2023. An automatic shut-off system safeguards all fuel valves within the engine room, while all main tanks are accessible via removable hatches with internal baffles for thorough cleaning. A transfer manifold enables clean, controlled fuel movement between all tanks via a Racor 1000 filter.

Freshwater and sanitation are equally well considered, with two fiberglass water tanks totaling 3,028 liters, each benefitting from full inspection hatches and an effective baffle system, monitored by a Wemalevel gauge. Fresh water outlets are thoughtfully placed throughout the boat. For independence at sea, there are two water makers, Village Marine 800 GPD, each with a flush system and new membranes installed in December 2023. Additional redundancy comes from two Rule submersible bilge pumps, model 16a, with a capacity of 14,000 liters, and six manual Edson pumps, one in each compartment. Water systems
