Measuring 96 feet with a 400,000 pounds displacement, she was conceived for long-range exploration and crafted to carry owners and guests across oceans in an elegant, welcoming environment.

A finalist for the 2018 International Yacht & Aviation Design Awards and the 2018 World Superyacht Voyager Award, VivieRae II has benefited from extensive recent upgrades that elevate both capability and presentation. Power comes from twin Caterpillar C-18 main engines, overhauled at 12,882 and 12,869 hours, with main engine transmissions rebuilt in 2023. Generators have been replaced, with the port 44kW unit showing 3,726 hours and the starboard 58xW unit showing 2,132 hours. Navigation equipment has been updated, the superstructure has been recently painted, new antifouling has been applied, carpets have been replaced, and the galley has been refreshed with serviced appliances.

Upgrade history

M/Y VIVIERAE II, a 2017 Nordhavn 96, presents a comprehensive refit and upgrade history from 2021 through 2026, encompassing 49 recorded works—two in 2021, sixteen in 2023, five in 2025, and twenty-six in 2026—executed to elevate performance, reliability and finish.

Key upgrades at a glance include the ABS ten-year inspection completed in 2026; main engines fitted with new intercoolers and subjected to a full borescope inspection in 2026 following overhauls in 2023 at approximately 7,800 hours; new Caterpillar C4.4 generators added in 2025, comprising one approximately 55 kW set and one approximately 44 kW set; a new Dometic VAR chiller system installed in 2025; and new FCI watermaker systems commissioned in 2026. Propeller shafts were replaced in 2023 and again addressed in 2026, with shaft seals, rudder seals and bearings renewed; the hull was resprayed in 2021 and the superstructure repainted in 2023, followed by a full exterior ceramic coating in 2026. Starlink was installed and integrated in 2023, through-hull fittings were replaced in 2023 and as required again in 2026, and interior carpeting, exterior teak re-caulking and new exterior upholstery were completed across 2025 and 2026.

In 2021, the yacht received a complete hull respray with refinishing and coating works, while the sanitary system was modernized by removing vacuum toilets and installing macerator-based toilet systems, with associated plumbing modified accordingly.

The 2023 program focused on major machinery, exterior presentation and systems. The main engines were overhauled at approximately 7,800 hours, and the propeller shafts were replaced. The superstructure was repainted, and the deck crane was rebuilt. The swim platform teak was renewed, and the transom fridge and refrigeration plates were replaced. Interior woodwork was refinished and restored, the galley flooring was redone and the galley repainted. Ground tackle received notable attention with additional anchor chain added to the starboard arrangement and both anchor chains re-galvanized. The anchor windlass was rebuilt with new seals and resprayed, while the stern windlass was rebuilt with new shafts. All through-hull fittings were replaced, and the engine room flooring and generator housing were resprayed. Connectivity was upgraded with Starlink installed and integrated into onboard systems, and spare network cables were run.

In 2025, the interior carpeting was replaced and all exterior teak was sanded and re-caulked. Climate control was enhanced with chillers replaced by a Dometic VAR system. Electrical generation was modernized with new Caterpillar C4.4 sets—one approximately 55 kW and one approximately 44 kW—while AV systems were refreshed throughout, with most components updated to current products.

The extensive 2026 works consolidated classification, propulsion, mechanical and aesthetic refinements. The ABS ten-year inspection was completed, and the main engines were inspected, fitted with new intercoolers and subjected to a full borescope inspection. Shaft seals were replaced, shafts were skimmed and fully inspected, and rudder seals and bearings were renewed; the Jastram steering system was inspected and updated, and the hydraulic system was inspected. New FCI watermaker systems were installed, and HVAC service included cleaning air handler fans with most replaced. Below the waterline, new antifouling was applied and Propspeed treatment completed, and anodes were renewed. Through-hull fittings were replaced as required, windlasses were serviced with lubricating oil renewed, and the exterior received a full ceramic coating, with all exterior windows treated and protected and exterior fittings treated and repainted or refinished. Brightwork saw the capping rails prepared and re-varnished, sunbeds were reupholstered and the main deck cushions were replaced. Refrigeration upgrades added a new freezer in the dining area and a new bridge deck drawer or chest refrigerator, while domestic appliances received comprehensive service, including Miele appliances and all refrigerators and ovens. The tender benefited from a new Simrad screen and radio system with an added amplifier, complete rewiring, and tubes patched and added to.
