Determination is a 112-foot luxury motor yacht from Westport, the American yard, delivered in 2017. Driven by twin MTU diesels, she attains a 25-knot top end and settles into a smooth 22-knot cruise. At 12 knots, her range extends to roughly 2,000 nautical miles. Accommodation is arranged for up to eight guests in four staterooms, with a dedicated crew of five.

Recent upgrades

In 2025, the yacht embarked on an extensive program of enhancements. In July 2025, a Clearmate water system was installed, the bottom was painted, and the cutwater was removed, polished, and reinstalled. The aft deck was elevated with six Bluewater high-gloss chairs and three Release Marine Londoner bar stools at the aft-deck bar, complemented by a new sunshade and a fully replaced aft settee with fresh cushions. In January 2026, Westport completed a comprehensive AV upgrade that delivered a new JL Audio subwoofer on the aft deck, four overhead aft-deck speakers, four overhead speakers in the flybridge, two speakers forward on the foredeck, a 65-inch Samsung TV in the salon, a 65-inch LED/LCD TV in the galley, a 50-inch Samsung TV in the master, and new carpet in the crew quarters. In March 2026, two Icom M605 DSC VHF radios were added in the pilothouse with one command mic on the flybridge, and a new Herman Miller desk chair was introduced; April 2026 brought a new refrigerator to the aft-deck bar and a replacement Miele cooktop. Main engines / drive line

Power comes from two MTU/DDC 16V2000 M86 main engines, each rated at 2,185 hp, with four-station MDEC controls featuring integrated station selection and shifter control, an MDEC synchronizer, and underwater exhaust. As of September 2026, engine hours are 2,548 on port and 2,554 on starboard. The MTU/DDC warranty runs until May 2027. Mixers and gaskets by Metcalf Marine were replaced in July 2025, and new transmission coolers were installed in December 2025.

Electrical generation is handled by two 65 kW, 1,800 RPM Northern Lights units on compound mounts with sound shields and InSep external water-exhaust separation mufflers. Water temperature, oil pressure, and hour meters are installed on the main distribution panel in the crew quarters, while both generators offer remote start/stop from the pilothouse. Systems

Designed for confidence on every passage, the diesel fuel system carries approximately 5,480 US gallons in a single tank divided into three compartments and served by a transfer system with pump, meter, and distribution manifold. The fuel transfer pump is equipped with a flow meter and timer, while filtration is handled by one dual Racor Duplex DFBO with isolation valve for each main engine and one dual Racor 75/500 for each generator. Fuel level awareness is precise thanks to sight tubes in the engine room with electronic monitoring, and the one-quarter-inch 5086 alloy aluminum tank features dual fills, standard vents, monitoring, and sight-tube level indicators.

All HMC crew beds were replaced in December 2025. Entertainment and control are comprehensive, with a 32” LED/LCD TV (new July 2025), Blu-Ray DVD Player, Kaleidescape, Satellite TV, Apple TV, an Off Air TV Tuner, FM Radio/XM Radio, an iPad Mini for Crestron, and two speakers. Illumination is layered and practical, combining 110V AC recessed room lights with 24V DC reading lights, and a clear full-length mirror graces the inside of the entry doors. Fine joinery enhances functionality, including a captain’s wardrobe and two dressers, a captain’s desk with a solid surface top and stool, an upper cabinet above the desk, drawers under the captain’s berth, crew drawers under the berths, and a crew cabinet above the berths.

In the crew lounge, a welcoming entertainment center pairs with a galley offering upper and lower cabinets and an upholstered settee. A solid surface tabletop (new July 2025) anchors the space, complemented by a 22” LED/LCD TV and Blu-Ray DVD Player, Kaleidescape, Satellite TV, Apple TV, an Off Air TV Tuner, FM Radio, an iPad Mini Touch Panel, and two overhead speakers. Counters are solid surface with a refined crescent edge, and the appliance suite includes a Magic Chef refrigerator, Miele washer/dryer, and GE microwave. Duettes blinds, warm maple trim, and new carpet installed in January 2026 complete this inviting retreat.

The captain and crew heads are finished to a yacht-standard specification, with custom-molded fiberglass showers enclosed by tempered glass doors and fitted with Altmans fixtures, supported by a sealed shower light. Practical elegance continues with a mirror on the medicine cabinet, low-voltage recessed room lights with dedicated vanity lighting, and solid surface counters with a crescent edge. Stainless steel sinks are paired with Grohe fixtures, complemented by Gedy bath accessories and refined joinery in the vanity and medicine cabinet. Galleymaid Eurostyle toilets and Amtico commercial vinyl flooring in a hardwood pattern with Corian base molding deliver durability and style in equal measure.

Flybridge

Commanding the scene, the flybridge helm presents steering controls on a centered console, flanked by flip-up wing stations to port and starboard for precise maneuvering. A single 24” stainless steel Destroyer-type helm wheel and two Crown Mariner helm chairs with footrests create a confident, ergonomic command post, aided by an iPad Mini for Crestron control and an FM radio for easy entertainment. Overhead, a composite hardtop spans the deck and integrates 24v overhead deck lighting, while four overhead speakers, new January 2026, enrich the ambiance. A welded aluminum and composite mast crowns the structure and carries electronics and an anchor light, complemented by a Kahlenberg T2-figure 372 air horn with a ½” air strainer and a custom ¼” Per-spec venturi set in a stainless frame.

Entertaining unfolds around a beautifully appointed wet bar whose upper bar top gleams in high-gloss Teak, with a lower stone surface housing a stainless steel sink and ice bin. The adjacent BBQ area features a stone top, a Perlick refrigerator conveniently positioned near the grill, and an RDS grill complete with hood and cover. An ice maker installed May 2025 ensures a steady supply of refreshments, and four Release Marine Londoner bar stools, installed July 2025, invite guests to linger. A fixed oval high-gloss Teak table anchors the social space, paired with a molded settee fitted with cushions and hinged seating for storage below; the cushions and pillows were renewed in July 2025 for fresh comfort and style.

For protection and versatility, the flybridge is finished with a full EZ to sea enclosure and full canvas covers, preserving the space and its fine appointments in every condition.

Foredeck

The foredeck sets the tone for effortless outdoor living with a bow sun lounge complete with cushions, a protective cover, and generous storage below, complemented by a molded keyhole settee with its own cushion and cover. Entertainment and connectivity are close at hand via an FM radio and an iPad mini feeding two speakers forward, new in January 2026, while a dedicated bosun’s locker adds practical utility with a 110V outlet inside, integrated lighting, and organized storage. A robust rubrail system combines molded-in fiberglass with high-density foam lower and middle guards, finished with a stainless half-oval rub strip for enduring protection and polish. Frameless windows are bonded with ultra glaze and executed in 1/4-inch solar gray tempered glass, and the forward pilothouse windows are 3/8-inch clear, ensuring strength and clarity. Watertight, slot-shaped portlights with privacy covers enhance safety and discretion, and all thru-hull fittings below the waterline are bronze with bronze valves and full bonding for reliability.

Thoughtful access is ensured by a comprehensive suite of hatches, including a Freeman 24-inch round hatch for VIP, a stainless steel and aluminum sliding hatch from the pilothouse to the flybridge, a Freeman cast aluminum round bow deck hatch to the chain locker, a sliding hatch from the aft deck stairs to the flybridge, a hatch from the crew’s quarters companionway to the lazarette, and a hatch to the attic.

Boat deck

Purpose-built for effortless tender handling and elegant outdoor living, the boat deck features a hydraulic-powered Nautical Structures davit crane with hydraulic rotation, wireless proportional control, and a 2,500 lb. load capacity. Removable chocks secure the tender when underway, while stainless steel rails with a mid rail encircle the deck for safety and style. A molded-in spa with a sun pad top and storage below pairs beautifully with a sun lounge complete with cushions and covers, creating a serene retreat. At the stern, a flagstaff flies a 5’ x 8’ U.S. flag, and port and starboard three-piece triangular sunshades extend to cover the hot tub and settee, ensuring comfort in every condition.

Mooring and anchoring

Engineered for confident handling, the yacht’s mooring and anchoring suite features six stainless-steel hawse eyes forward, two stainless-steel hawse eyes at the swim grid, and two additional stern cleats dedicated to shore-boat tie-off. Eight fender cleats, four per side, pair with a stainless-steel rub rail and four fender hangers to safeguard the hull and streamline dockside operations. At the bow, two Poole-style 300 lb polished stainless-steel anchors rest on polished stainless-steel anchor plates, served by one 250-foot and one 350-foot length of 5/8-inch chain for the two anchors, with 5/8-inch chain rollers, stoppers, and devil’s claws ensuring secure management. Power is delivered by two VWC 4500# Maxwell hydraulic winches with band brakes, complemented by an anchor chain wash-down system for clean, efficient deployment and retrieval. Anchor shackles and kenter links were new August 2026. Aft, two Maxwell 3500# 24V DC capstans provide precise control for stern operations.

Audio / visual electronics

Every accommodation space is thoughtfully appointed with audio/video entertainment that offers a wide array of choices, all orchestrated through dedicated iPads in each room or space running a Westport‑engineered, fully updated Crestron program. Complementing this intuitive control, iPad Minis also manage lighting and shades or blinds where applicable, creating a seamless, personalized ambience at a touch.

A DirecTV US KVH HD dish installed new in 2025 and Starlink Maritime installed in 2025 provide robust satellite television and high-speed connectivity, while a comprehensive Westport AV upgrade completed in January 2026 brings the system to contemporary standards. Content and sources abound with Kaleidescape Movies and Music, Blu‑ray/DVD, Apple TV, an off‑air HD TV tuner, and FM radio, and the integration extends to the navigation chartplotter for an enriched, unified onboard experience.

Swim step

Crafted in teak over a composite deck, the swim step blends refinement with purpose, featuring hose bibs for effortless wash-downs and two pop-up cleats at the guard, port and starboard, complemented by two mooring bits, one port and one starboard. A dedicated hatch serves the gasoline fueling station, and integrated sockets accept the stainless steel swim ladder with a folding handle. Port and starboard steps rise to the aft deck with teak-covered treads and stainless steel handrails, while the platform itself is secured by 1 1/2-inch polished stainless steel handrails and removable 2-inch polished stainless steel staple rails. Dockside handling is assured by two Maxwell 3500#, 24V DC capstans, and four underwater lights span the stern in a luminous display, with a watertight access door leading directly into the utility room.

Miscellaneous equipment

A new Marquipt 2026 boarding stair comprises one seven-step carbon fiber assembly with two handrails, with brackets at the port and starboard gates, stowed on the starboard bulwark. Sunbrella snap-on covers are provided. The flybridge features a bar, tables, a settee, four bar stools, two helm chairs, and an instrument console. The pilothouse is equipped with a black mesh windshield cover. The stern flagstaff is rigged with 1/8-inch nylon line, and the bow jack staff is likewise rigged with 1/8-inch nylon line, both per standard yacht practice. A Nautical Structures hydraulic passerelle is fitted, complemented by a four-step swim ladder and a dock box for storage of toys.

Safety equipment

Safety aboard is comprehensively addressed with two eight-man Zodiac life rafts, complemented by thirteen Coast Guard–approved adult life preservers with water lights and six Coast Guard–approved child life preservers with water lights. Two 24-inch-diameter ring buoys are secured on the exterior of the vessel, and a flare kit is carried for signaling. A Perko 179 ship’s bell, provided in accordance with Coast Guard regulations and stored in the forward stateroom, adds further compliance assurance, while safety steps recessed into the transom facilitate secure water access. Fire protection is robust, with dry-chemical extinguishers installed in suitable locations: five 10 lb., six 5 lb., and three 2.5 lb. units. A Smartfind Plus EPIRB and a medical kit complete the onboard emergency equipment.

Engine room

The engine room is finished in a bright white paint package that enhances illumination and underscores meticulous care. Storage is thoughtfully arranged with storage cabinets on the aft port bulkhead above the workbench and a storage cabinet on the forward port bulkhead, keeping tools and spares organized. At its core, a stainless-steel workbench stands ready with a 5-inch vise and a toolbox, providing a rugged, practical station for onboard maintenance. Access is secured by an aluminum watertight door, while safety is elevated by an FM200 fire suppression system with manual and automatic controls, complemented by additional fire suppression on the electrical distribution panel; the system has been tested and issued a certification of inspection by an authorized inspector, with service completed in July 2026. Underfoot, removable plywood floorboards are finished with a black tile vinyl floor covering, combining durability with easy service access.

Tender

This 2019 17' AB RIB, powered by a 115hp four-stroke Yamaha outboard, is outfitted with a starboard console, a VHF radio with a fold-down antenna, a compass, and a depth sounder, complemented by polished stainless steel rails. It further features a transom ladder, a lifting bridle, and a side ladder for effortless boarding, while a Bimini canvas top provides shade and a towing pole readies the tender for water sports.

General construction

The hull is expertly laid up in fiberglass mat and roving with an Airex PVC core on the bottom and Corecell on the sides, complemented by an outer layer of fiberglass laminated with Vinylester resin and a sprayed exterior gelcoat. Topsides are finished with an Alexseal 501 topcoat in Snow White to match the hull and house, while the boot stripe presents a crisp acrylic high-gloss black. Below the waterline, protection is ensured by a Sea Hawk black antifouling bottom paint applied over an epoxy barrier coat. In the engine room, a comprehensive sound package integrates barriers and absorptive insulation using Soundown materials, paired with a noise-attenuating, watertight door for added quiet and security. Equipment is mounted on isolation systems specified by each manufacturer, and throughout the accommodation areas, sound-tight construction minimizes noise transmission between spaces for a serene onboard experience.
