Overview

Among Beneteau’s most celebrated designs, the Oceanis 45 delivers contemporary European styling inside and out and lively sailing characteristics, even with the ICW-friendly mast and shoal-draft keel. DRIFT features a two-stateroom layout, with the third cabin thoughtfully repurposed as a utility room housing the generator, watermaker controls, and organized tool storage. Warm mahogany joinery, upgraded UltraLeather settees, and a Tempur-Pedic mattress in the owner’s suite create a residence-at-sea that’s as comfortable as it is capable. Named European Boat of the Year in 2012, this luxury sailing yacht is a standout performance cruiser and refined monohull cruiser in every way.

Detailed Description

Overview

Confident and composed on the water, this Oceanis 45 is specified to make every mile easy. A shoal‑draft keel drawing 5’ 9” pairs go‑anywhere versatility with a MaxPower bow thruster for fingertip handling. On deck, Sunbrella canvas wraps the cockpit in comfort—a full cockpit enclosure and bimini with an aft cover, companionway protection and bug screen, plus a dodger—while a handsome cockpit table and teak sole set the tone for gracious cruising. At the stern, a large swim platform with an electric lift and new gas struts lowers life to water level. Ground tackle inspires trust with a Mantus 65 lb anchor on 150 feet of 3/8‑inch chain served by a Quick electric windlass, and abundant cockpit lazarettes and bow anchor lockers keep gear shipshape. Factory synthetic teak rub and toe rails offer maintenance‑free good looks. For adventures ashore, davits and an arch support the dinghy, complemented by a Nova outboard lift. The bottom was painted in November 2024, setting you up for the season ahead.

The sail plan is efficient, modern and highly manageable. A Dacron in‑mast furling main and Dacron genoa on a Facnor furling system with UV sunpanel make reefing a one‑handed task, stabilized by a rigid vang and moderated by a Walden boom brake. Power comes easily with Harken 50ST two‑speed primary winches, a Harken 40ST two‑speed winch on the starboard cabin top, and a Harken UniPower 900 electric winch to port. A masthead Windex, split backstay and a mainsheet arch keep the cockpit clear and the trim precise, and the mast height is ICW‑friendly under 64 feet.

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are equally well considered. A Yanmar 54 hp saildrive shows approximately 1200 hours and turns a folding three‑blade prop, while twin steering wheels connect by chain and cable to a quadrant for responsive feel. Climate control is assured by three Cruise Air reverse‑cycle units totaling 36,000 BTUs with digital displays. The Watermakers Inc. ISL‑400 watermaker produces 18 gph and is currently pickled. Quiet, reliable power comes from a Cummins‑Onan 6 kW generator with Soundshield showing approximately 250 hours, feeding a 50‑foot, 50‑amp shore power cable when dockside. Bilge management includes both manual and 12 V electric pumps, with a separate sump and pump for AC condensate. Comfort and convenience extend to two Jabsco electric‑flush heads, each with its own holding tank offering deck pump‑out or overboard discharge. The 12 V system is anchored by a Cristec Ypower 12 V charger dedicated to the genset battery, and a robust battery suite: five AGM G31 house bank batteries totaling 525 amp‑hours, one AGM G31 dedicated engine start battery, one AGM G24 dedicated generator start battery, and two AGM G24 batteries for the bow thruster and windlass. Power electronics include a Victron MultiPlus 2000 VA/80 amps and a Victron Smart Charger MPPT 150/60, supported by two 335‑watt solar panels and monitored by a Linx battery monitor; charging underway is backed by a 55 amp Hitachi alternator. Lighting is all LED—interior and navigation alike—with 12 V outlets placed for practicality. Hot and cold pressure water, a cockpit shower, “Seagull” water filtration, and a Quick Nautic 40 l (10.6 gal) water heater running on 110 V or via an engine heat exchanger complete the hotel systems.

The galley is sea‑kind and fully appointed, with a double stainless‑steel sink, a Force 10 three‑burner LPG stove and oven, VitriFrigo 12 V front‑loading refrigeration and a 12 V top‑loading freezer, a microwave oven, and durable solid‑surface countertops ready for gourmet passage making.

Navigation, communication and entertainment are upgraded for confidence and pleasure. In the cockpit, a B&G Zeus‑2 T12 MFD is flanked by two B&G Zeus‑2 T7 MFDs, all fed by B&G Broadband 4G radar, with a B&G Triton display in the salon. Clear comms come via a B&G V50 VHF with RAM remote and a mast‑mount hailer offering horn and megaphone functions. Awareness is enhanced by NAIS‑500 Class B AIS, while a Simrad autopilot with remote at the port helm is cleanly linked into the B&G network. Evenings come alive with a Fusion MS‑AV650 sound system upgrade delivering Bluetooth, DVD, AM/FM and Sirius capability (subscriptions required where applicable), a WM‑3 SiriusXM Satellite Weather receiver (subscription required), and an LG 24” flat‑screen HD TV. Helm precision is underscored by Plastimo pedestal‑mounted compasses.

Safety and convenience are comprehensively addressed. A Viking six‑person life raft is aboard (certification not current), complemented by a Lifesling MOB Rescue Sling, four Type II PFDs, and three 10‑B fire extinguishers, plus USCG distress signals, a Kidde CO detector/alarm and a smoke detector/alarm. The tender package includes an SR10S Arctic Grey 828 Hypalon 10’ dinghy with a sun cover, powered by a 2021 Suzuki 15 hp outboard, and a thoughtful selection of spares to keep you underway.

Description

One of Beneteau’s most successful designs, the Oceanis 45 blends a contemporary European aesthetic with real‑world performance, even with the ICW‑friendly rig and shoal‑draft keel. DRIFT is the sought‑after two‑cabin layout, with the third cabin thoughtfully converted into a dedicated machinery space housing the generator, watermaker controls and organized tool stowage—freeing up volume elsewhere for quiet, effortless living. Inside, the warmth of mahogany cabinetry is paired with upgraded UltraLeather seating, while the owner’s cabin is crowned by a sumptuous TemperPedic mattress. Awarded European Boat of the Year in 2012, this Oceanis 45 remains a winner in every respect, living as beautifully as she sails.
