Overview
Launched by Tamsen Yachts in 2009, the renowned Turkish shipyard, the luxury motor yacht M/Y GEMS II has enjoyed fastidious, pride‑of‑ownership care through 2024, benefiting from continual servicing and refit improvements to her interiors, decks, and technical systems. In 2022 she received new gyroscopic zero‑speed stabilizers, markedly boosting comfort both at anchor and underway. In 2024, the 15‑year RINA survey fell due but was not completed, with the result that GEMS II was unable to undertake any charters during the 2024 season.
Stepping aboard GEMS II is an occasion in itself; guests are immediately immersed in a contemporary, welcoming interior where they feel at home, with discreet layers of luxury elevating the mood throughout. Her assertive profile and slate‑grey hull make a statement in every marina, artfully masking an expansive 8.6‑metre beam that yields a high‑volume hull and a notably generous lower‑deck footprint with abundant storage and guest space.
GEMS II is now presented for sale as‑is, with a defined scope of works for her next owner, chiefly the RINA items required to bring the superyacht fully back into class.
Detailed Description
GEMS II general detailed description
M/Y GEMS II is a striking 40.5-metre tri-deck motor yacht delivered by Tamsen Yachts in 2009. With a powerful yet elegant profile, expansive interior volume, and a thoughtful layout throughout, she presents a rare opportunity for those seeking a high‑volume platform at an accessible price point. Built in composite with a GRP hull and superstructure, her Tamsen in‑house design showcases clean lines, an 8.6‑metre beam, and extensive glazing that floods the interiors with natural light.
Aft, a large sunpad and an extendable table invite alfresco dining for ten to twelve guests, depending on seating configuration. Forward, a generous U‑shaped settee encircles a jacuzzi and two tables, creating a convivial foredeck lounge. Ahead of this area sit the two anchor windlasses and two ten‑person life rafts, while two twenty‑person life rafts are stored on the upper aft deck. The mast carries two antennas, two radars, and two cameras—one adjustable forward and one aft. The original VSAT dish is now redundant as Starlink has been fitted.
Stepping into the main salon from the aft deck, the starboard side features a fully equipped bar with its own refrigerator, while a TV sits opposite. Two lounge areas with dayheads are arranged port and starboard, culminating forward in a large U‑shaped sofa facing a TV, with cabinetry along the sides for china and glassware.
She accommodates up to twelve guests in five ensuite cabins. The full‑beam master suite, entered from the starboard corridor on the main deck, includes a private study, large windows, and a spacious bathroom with separate bath and shower, while port and starboard walk‑in wardrobes are positioned toward the aft end of the cabin. Below deck, two VIP doubles and two twin cabins with Pullman berths are beautifully finished and exceptionally well laid out. All bathrooms are modern, elegant, and proportionally large for a yacht of this size. At the entrance to the lower deck there is also a wine cellar.
On the port side, a generously sized galley is equipped with a walk‑in fridge/freezer and two American‑style fridge/freezers, complemented by two ovens, two dishwashers, and a microwave. Forward on the starboard side, the crew area comprises a crew mess and three double crew cabins accommodating a total of six crew, each with its own ensuite shower and WC, in accordance with STCW regulations.
The engine room houses the two main MTU 16V 2000 M93 diesel engines, as well as two 90 kW generator sets driven by John Deere engines with Kilopak alternators. All core technical equipment is installed here, and the space includes a dedicated watch station for the engineer.
At the stern, the transom folds down to form a broad swim platform and provide access to the garage. Inside, a 3.2‑metre tender and a jet ski are stowed. The space has been partitioned to house the two VEEM zero‑speed gyro stabilisers and also contains two washing machines, two dryers, service batteries, a launching ramp, and ample storage for watersports toys such as paddleboards and kayaks. For on‑water fun, she carries an excellent selection including a Williams 505 tender, a Sea‑Doo GTX 300, a wakeboard, water skis, snorkelling gear, and inflatables, with easy launching from the garage and platform.
It should be noted that GEMS II is currently out of class and cannot move under her own power from the dock. She will therefore require some technical and cosmetic updates to return to full operational status, particularly for commercial charter use. That said, her strong bones, unique layout, and timeless aesthetic offer significant value and potential for a new owner ready to invest in a refit.
With her foredeck jacuzzi, expansive 8.6‑metre beam, dual VIPs, open‑plan interiors, and stabilisers, GEMS II stands out as a yacht with real personality, comfort, and promise—ready to be brought back to her full glory.
