Benefit of the off-season

VISIT THE MOST POPULAR YACHT CHARTER DESTINATIONS DURING THE OFF-SEASON – USE YOUR CHANCE TO LOOK AT THE BEACHES AND BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPES FROM AN ALL-NEW PERSPECTIVE.

Looking for some space on a crowded beach? Just imagine having the whole place for yourself while seeing nobody but your crew being sincerely glad for you! No wonder that a growing number of people appreciate the off-season as the perfect time for a yacht charter.

CHANGING OF THE MIGRATION PATHS

Every year at the end of winter, many yachts leave the Caribbean and head for the Mediterranean to spend the summery months there. Then they go back to the Caribbean and the cycle repeats. If yachts were like migratory birds, they would pursue this scheme invariably. Fortunately, yacht owners can change their habits and so they do more and more often, for example, staying all year-round in the Caribbean, or going there in the summer and visiting the Mediterranean in the winter.

The reasons for staying in the Med for winter could be different – sometimes going across the Atlantic Ocean twice a year is too expensive while some of the owners just prefer to keep the yacht close to the place where they live. However, the main reason is that clients have become more interested in booking the off-season charters.

THE WEATHER FACTOR

One of the reasons for the off-season being not as popular is that the temperature is considered uncomfortable. This argument is rather poor. First, we know that different people can have different temperature sensing and preferences. Second, the myths about “too hot” summer weather in the Caribbean or “unpleasantly cold” winter time in the Mediterranean shouldn’t be taken literally.

As far as the Caribbean is concerned, you can see that the average temperature in the summer shows surprisingly little difference from that of perfect high season weather. For example, in the British Virgin Islands it’s only about six degrees higher (88°F) in summer versus (82°F) temperatures in the winter. What can prevent you from swimming and enjoying water toys when at any moment you can take a rest on the yacht, most of which have air conditioning?

Winter in the Mediterranean is chilly, indeed. The daytime temperature can be about 57°F or 13.9°C, like in such areas as Mallorca or Ibiza. However, some people find it refreshing. They also would appreciate the fact that the number of other tourists is relatively few at that time of the year, so there is no need to hustle through the crowd just to take a photo from some popular view point or get to the museum.

THE SHOULDER SEASON’S CHARM

The particular period of time between peak and low seasons, which is called “shoulder season”, takes good qualities from both adjacent periods: the high-season weather still hasn’t changed much, but popular destinations are already quieter. Tourists are also attracted by the special shoulder season fare, which is more favorable – sometimes it can save you up to 40-50%.

Do you want to avoid noisy families on vacation? Just visit Santorini in Greece during May. If you head to Mallorca in October or November, you will find that the weather (73°F) is perfect for any activity, from walking on the beach to shopping.

THE INTIMDATING HURRICANES

There’s no doubt that hurricanes should be taken seriously when it comes to yachting plans. Careful hourly monitoring guarantees that no surprises will occur. Even if you are staying in the Caribbean from June to November, the probability of meeting an unpredicted hurricane is near zero. Each yacht has an approved plan of escape at the slightest signs of a huge storm coming. During the off-season, it is strictly required by all insurance companies.

THE BAHAMAS ARE BECKONING

Though the Bahama Islands are not far from Florida, it looks like a different world with its marvelous beaches and amazing crystal clear turquoise water. Off-season here lasts for about three months (June through August) and this period can exceed all your expectations. The heat is gentle with an average temperature of 82°F or 28°C and the winds don’t pick up as they do in winter. If you are in search of blissful solitude, those island shores with pristine sand waiting for a footprint would be an excellent choice of destination for you charter yacht.

And don’t forget the fact that every true angler will find fascinating: the Bahamian summer is an excellent time for the sport fishing. Don’t hesitate to step aboard and set out to explore the off-season and all its advantages!
