Detailed Description

Introduction

Beatrice is a 2008 Hinckley Talaria 40, hull number THC40068C708, conceived by Bruce King and constructed to Hinckley’s DualGuard composite standard—a Kevlar/E-glass hybrid with balsa core, SCRIMPed with vinyl-ester resin. Offered by an experienced multiple Hinckley owner, she benefits from a suite of thoughtfully selected options and carefully executed enhancements added during and after her build, elevating every moment onboard through significant mechanical upgrades and considered ergonomic refinements. Beatrice cruises with poise at 26 knots and achieves a top speed of 33 knots, and she is currently located in Marseille, France.

Recent upgrades

In 2022, the yacht underwent a transformative repower as both main engines were replaced with new twin Yanmar 6LF530 units, each delivering 525 hp, paired with new ZF280-1 gearboxes. The installation was comprehensively executed with new twin-engine instrument panels, full NMEA 2000 wiring integration, and adapted engine mounts. To complement the mechanical enhancements, additional sound insulation was fitted throughout the engine room, elevating onboard comfort by reducing ambient noise. Externally, the hull received a full Awlgrip repaint for a fresh, enduring finish. Over multiple seasons, extensive works by SRT Marine in Marseille have further refined the vessel, spanning mechanical systems, cosmetics, electronics, and outfitting.

Hull & deck

A timeless Hinckley profile is on full display with Flag Blue Awlgrip topsides set off by a double snow white boot stripe, while the cabinhouse and deck gleam in a light cream gelcoat. Beneath the beauty lies a Hinckley DualGuard Kevlar/E-glass hybrid hull with balsa core, SCRIMPed with vinyl-ester resin for exceptional strength, stiffness, and long-term durability. The deck features molded-in nonskid for confident footing, complemented by teak decking in the cockpit and across the pilothouse sole. Protection comes from a stainless steel half-round on the fiberglass rub rail, and a custom Hinckley stainless steel bow rail stands six inches higher than standard for added security. Richly detailed varnished teak highlights the exterior with a toe rail, eyebrow molding, and handrails on the pilothouse and cabin tops.

Forward, a foredeck flush anchor locker with a pneumatic strut and a stowaway stainless anchor roller keeps the bow clean and ready for action. Natural light and airflow pour in through five low-profile Lewmar opening aluminum hatches fitted with Ocean Air Skyscreen screen/blind systems. At the stern, a heavy-duty fiberglass swim platform with teak insert treads is paired with a stainless telescoping three-step folding swim ladder for effortless water access. For confident night operations, an ACR remote spotlight and a cockpit floodlight are mounted on the mast, both painted to match the deck for a seamless, purposeful finish.

Cockpit

The cockpit showcases varnished teak coaming paired with a beautifully laid teak sole, setting a refined tone for relaxation and entertaining. Aft-facing built-in seating atop the port and starboard engine boxes is finished with Kravet Sandy Lane Indigo cushions, complemented by forward-facing seating with matching cushions to create a harmonious gathering space. The engine boxes are hinged with electric lifts for effortless engine room access, while a folding teak cockpit table features interchangeable legs to accommodate either dining or cocktail height. Practicality is equally considered with an insulated cooler and fish box integrated into the transom, a hinged transom door for convenient boarding, and a cockpit shower with a hot and cold mixing valve. Power management and stowage are elegantly handled by a shore cord inlet with a Glendenning reel system and a custom removable Stamoid bag in the lazarette for fenders and lines. Anglers will appreciate rod holders positioned port, starboard, and at the transom, four in total, and custom stainless steel boarding handles to port and starboard complete this meticulously outfitted space.

Pilothouse

Varnished teak upper side-liners, dash, and instrument pod set a warm, nautical tone, while twin Stidd helm and passenger seats in Diplomat Blue UltraLeather provide electrically adjustable comfort and superb support. Stamoid drop curtains with eisenglass windows transform the area into a fully enclosed pilothouse when desired, and a custom motorized, hinged overhead TV lift reveals a Samsung 23-inch HD LCD TV at the touch of a button. The varnished teak table converts seamlessly to a pilothouse berth, complemented by a wine cellar tucked beneath the seat for effortless entertaining. Abundant ventilation arrives via two overhead opening hatches fitted with OceanAir Skyscreens and is enhanced by two removable Hella fans, as audio flows through two stereo speakers with fader control. A custom chart locker, thoughtfully equipped with a 110V outlet and an Ethernet jack, keeps navigation essentials organized and powered.

Electronics & navigation

Command with confidence at a helm outfitted with dual Raymarine E12 multifunction displays (e125 Hybrid Touch), complemented by a Raymarine P70R rotary autopilot with rate sensor and GPS interface, all guided by a Raymarine 4 kW, 48-inch HD digital open-array radar painted to match the deck. Communication is crystal clear through a Standard Horizon Phantom PS2000 VHF with a RAM mic at the helm and integrated loud hailer/intercom, while precise heading is assured by a Danforth Constellation high-speed compass, varnished, laminated, and binnacle-mounted. Connectivity is modern and robust thanks to a 4G LTE hotspot (GOST G4G-LTE-WIFI) with a multi-band antenna, and onboard entertainment flows through a Fusion MS-AV750 marine system feeding a Sharp 20-inch LCD TV on the cabin bulkhead and a Samsung 23-inch HD LCD TV housed within a motorized pilothouse lift.

Propulsion & mechanical

Power comes from twin Yanmar 6LF530 diesel engines, each delivering 525 hp, installed new in 2022 and showing approximately 250 hours, with serial numbers port 1920706 and starboard 1861804. These engines drive twin ZF280-1 gearboxes with a 1.214 ratio, also new in 2022 and carrying serial numbers port 20317454 and starboard 20317455, which in turn feed twin Hamilton 322 Jet Drives with reversing ducts for confident, agile maneuvering. Precision control is at your fingertips through the Hinckley JetStick® system integrated with a Vetus 24V seven-inch reversible bow thruster, complemented by Mathers electronic throttle and transmission control with synchronizer, while dual-cylinder trim tabs below each jet refine running attitude. Shipboard power is assured by a Kohler Marine diesel 9 kW generator, and reliability is further enhanced by three electric 3,700 GPH 12V bilge pumps with float switches, Racor fuel/water separating filters, and an oil transfer pump serving the engines, generator, and transmissions.

Accommodations

The interior is finished in satin-varnished cherry wood with an insulated white overhead and a varnished teak and tulipwood cabin sole, creating a warm, refined ambience. The layout features one full-width double cabin forward, thoughtfully modified from the standard V-berth to provide a true full-width berth with additional storage in easily accessed drawers, complemented by one head with shower. Comfort is assured by Marine Air reverse-cycle heat and air conditioning, while natural airflow is optimized through three opening overhead hatches fitted with OceanAir Skyscreen blinds and bug screens and four opening ports with removable screens. Practical illumination comes from interior overhead lights and step lights, enhancing both ambiance and safety throughout.

Galley

Reworked from the standard layout for improved usability, the galley presents an Abalone Corian countertop paired with satin-varnished stained cherry woodwork for a warm, refined ambiance. A stainless steel Elkay corner sink anchors the workspace beside a two-burner electric cooktop capped with a custom cutting board cover, while a Fisher & Paykel in-drawer dishwasher simplifies cleanup. Cold storage is intelligently divided between a separate front-loading fridge and a top-loading freezer that is convertible to suit provisions. Completing the arrangement, a microwave oven resides in an overhead locker with a custom glass rack, and organization is assured by a large silverware drawer and louvered cherry storage doors throughout.

Entertainment

A Fusion marine stereo system fills the yacht with rich, balanced sound, while a Samsung 23-inch HD LCD TV on a motorized lift in the pilothouse overhead is seamlessly tied into the satellite TV system for effortless viewing at sea. Complementing this is a Sharp 20-inch LCD TV mounted on the cabin bulkhead for private entertainment, and a 4G LTE Wi‑Fi hotspot that keeps streaming and connectivity smooth wherever you cruise.

Summary

Beatrice is a turnkey, meticulously maintained example of one of the finest American-built express cruisers, boasting new engines installed in 2022, fresh Awlgrip paint, upgraded electronics, and a thoughtfully customized interior. Ready to cruise the Mediterranean or cross an ocean, she invites immediate enjoyment, and a personal viewing is strongly encouraged.
