The AB 145 is a completely new project based on experience accumulated since 2007 in the construction of AB 116 and AB 140 models of which nine were successfully delivered so far. Although a logical evolution of the AB 140 model, the AB 145 is nonetheless a completely new and different project as disguised under a very sleek and aggressive profile, she is actually a raised pilothouse yacht.
She therefore offers a significantly greater interior volume and features a spectacular on-deck master cabin which was not a possibility on the AB 140. The master cabin has a folding lateral balcony and a private access to the foredeck which is designed as the owner’s private outside deck and can be fitted out to his requirements. Moreover, the yacht features 4 additional guest cabins on the lower deck, as well as a spacious gym room which can be easily converted into another cabin if required. It should also be noted that the AB 145 offers a real flybridge, not just a “sportbridge” usually seen on fast open yachts.
The flybridge is much more spacious than on the AB 140 model and can accommodate separate lounging and sunbathing areas, as well as a BBQ and bar area which is located aft.
The quality of life on board is further enhanced by extremely comfortable crew quarters designed to latest international standards, and a perfectly insulated engine room fitted with a separate engineer’s control room.
In terms of construction and engineering, like all AB Yachts she is built using the latest technologies and space-age materials with the objective of achieving not only superior performance but also unrivalled efficiency. Extensive hydrodynamic studies and tank testing in collaboration with waterjet manufacturer MJP combined with very accurate and controlled construction phase result in a top speed of 42 knots which is a very impressive achievement for a yacht of this size and volume. And yet her propulsion package which consists of three MTU 2600hp. engines is surprisingly conservative.
To achieve this remarkable performance, the AB 145 does not resort to anything exotic like gas turbines, nor does it use engines any larger than seen on most mid-sized planing yachts, thereby reducing consumption and maintenance costs to very low levels compared to more traditional yachts of this size and type. The new AB 145 is an unprecedented balance of comfort, performance and efficiency; she represents a new frontier in the large express cruiser market.
