Overview

Built in 1930 for the American paper magnate Hugh J. Chisholm she was originally named Aras II and was one of the worlds largest privately owned yachts. In 1941 she was purchased by the U.S. Military for use as a Patrol Gunboat (PG-56) and renamed the U.S.S.Williamsburg. After honourable service in WWII she was decommissioned and converted for use as the Presidential yacht for President Truman.During this period, the White House was undergoing extensive renovation, so the U.S.S. Williamsburg was used to host visiting heads of state and dignitaries as well as US government officials. Winston Churchill was a regular visitor and the yacht soon became known as the sea going White House. After the Truman years the Williamsburg was used for a variety of purposes, but eventually became property of a shipyard in Italy where she has fallen into neglect. The project to restore the Williamsburg to her former glory is an unrepeatable opportunity to own a significant piece of history and a supremely magnificent luxury motor yacht.
