There is no catch - this is the best priced Catana 521 owner’s version on the market today.
The current owners bought her in 2009 in Trinidad and went through a major refit including sails, running rigging, batteries and charger, some electronics and teak cockpit and floors. In 2010 Charade had Coppercoat antifouling. In 2012 the standing rigging and the through hulls were upgraded.
Charade has been very well maintained throughout this time to ensure safe cruising for the family with their three kids. They now have to go to school back in France... hence the reason Charade is offered for sale.
This Catana 521 is hull #10. Catana made about 20 of these models in total. This Catana 521 is somewhere in between the 521 and 522 series: a 521 with the good options of the 522 without the fuss. Charade is an excellent, seaworthy model ready for serious blue water cruising in an unrivalled smooth motion and speed. The Catana 521 is easy to single hand with all maneuvering lines within the safety of the cockpit on an electrical winch.
Some features include: the popular U shape saloon where you can lie down for your watch. Galley up and aft to ensure ease of entertaining through the large opening doors to the cockpit. Charade has a comfortable owner's cabin with ensuite on the starboard side, and 2 guest cabins on the port side (one queen convertible into 2 single) with a very nice bathroom to share. There is another 4th double cabin on starboard with access through the deck ideal for skipper, added guests or kids.
The hulls on the Catana 521 are reinforced with Twaron (kevlar-like), she also features carbon fibre mast, daggerboards for upwind performance, dinghy but also water maker, gen set, air con... you have it all! All the spares for blue water crossings are on board incl. filters, electronic boards, pumps etc..
This is a safe buy as these boats retain their value throughout time. Probably one of our best listings at the moment. The owners of Charade have deliberately chosen to position themselves very aggressively to trigger some interest from the international and local market and get her sold quickly.
