POWER BOAT GUIDE REVIEW

The Cruisers 4270 is a big, full-bodied express with a luxurious two-stateroom interior and cockpit seating for a small crowd. Heavily built on a fully cored hull with a wide beam and prop pockets, the sleek profile of the 4270 is accented by her long foredeck, reverse radar arch, and an extended swim platform. The expansive interior contains a unique midcabin suite with twin single berths (convertible into a queen-size bed) and a private standup head compartment—a notable departure from the cramped midcabin layouts found in most express cruisers. The U-shaped galley in this yacht is huge with wood flooring and plenty of counter and storage space. Topside, the cockpit includes removable wraparound seating, wet bar with refrigerator and icemaker, and a walk-through windshield for easy foredeck access. Additional features include a large helm console with space for flush-mounted electronics, a gas-assist engine room hatch in the cockpit, and a concealed, remote-controlled anchor windlass. A well-finished boat, early models with optional 350hp Cat V-drive diesels cruise at 24 knots (about 28 knots top), and later models with 420hp V-drive Cats cruise at 28 knots (low 30s top).

The 4270 ups-the-ante in her class with a unique midcabin suite located amidships, a comfortable second stateroom with private head, and standup changing area. The 4270 is a design that will change thinking about the meaning of "express". Deceptively sleek on the outside, the Cruisers 4270 Express features broad shoulders that allow for a roomy, open interior layout. Bathed with plenty of natural light and featuring impressive 66-inch headroom, the 4270 's salon offers a convertible dinette - sofa with crescent-shaped seating, a stereo with 6-CD changer, and a TV - VCR. The 4270 also has optional cherry veneer interior. Rather than the usual "cave" layout, the special midcabin aboard the 4270 includes twin berths that can be converted to a king-size bed using a self-storing filler cushion. Also included in the second-cabin suite arrangement: a private changing area with standing headroom and storage for personal items, as well as a private head with shower, also with full standing headroom. The master stateroom boasts a queen-size island berth with inner spring mattress, luxurious appointments and ample storage space for the big cruise. For additional onboard comfort, the main head includes a separate, standup shower stall. This head is conveniently accessible from both the salon and the master stateroom.
