Overview

Sailing yacht ASIA is one of the best known yachts in Southeast Asia; she has earned an excellent reputation for exhilarating, luxury adventure charters to the remotest corners of Southeast Asian waters.

Her dedicated owners intended ASIA to be the ultimate offshore cruising yacht, suitable to explore the far corners of the planet and if needed, operate on long voyages unsupported.

Well known naval architect Don Brooke succeeded to design ASIA enabling an excellent sailing performance without compromising on comfort and safety; her pedigree is highly impressive. She was solidly constructed in steel and aluminium at Culham Engineering in New Zealand and is fully MCA compliant.

The yacht is luxuriously finished: Burmese teak, cream leather sofas, Asian artworks and Thai silks all blend harmoniously to create a stylish and graceful interior worthy of a superyacht.  The teak pilot house has fantastic panoramic views. Adjoining is the large, shaded cockpit with twin dinner tables. There is seemingly unlimited teak deck space for sunbathing or lounging about.

Ten guests are accommodated comfortably in five well laid-out, ensuite staterooms  (2 king-size double, 2 interchangeable king-size double or twin and fifth stateroom forward 1 twin). All staterooms have individual air-con, LCD and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Guests' amenities include bed linens and shower and bath towels of the finest quality.

ASIA is offered for sale by her current (first) owners who are considering a change of lifestyle.

ASIA offers an ideal opportunity for a  family, planning to go on a safe and comfortable exploration around the world.
ASIA could be equally interesting to a charter operator continuing the proven charter success of this outstanding sailing yacht.

NOT FOR SALE TO U.S. CITIZENS OR RESIDENTS WHILE IN U.S. WATERS

Engine Room

ASIA's experienced, yachting savvy owners have conceptualised the engine room lay-out and machinery to meet their stringent requirements for long range exploration, safety and comfort; they have installed machinery and equipment for their proven reliability and efficiency.

Her main engine is a 260 HP Gardner 8L3B, known in the industry as the Rolls Royce of marine engines.
This particular engine was manufactured by Gardner in the UK in 1967 and completely rebuilt by Gardner specialist Dave Shaw Engineering in New Zealand. Her condition was new and @ zero hours when purchased for ASIA in 2007. She was aligned in the water and first ran on December 15th 2007. All was properly documented and engine logbooks have been accurately kept since.

One of the objectives of the owners was to bunker as little as possible and to be able to select the best value fuel supplier in a particular cruising area. The fuel consumption is 16 L at 750RPM which results in an average cruising speed of 8 knots under engine. This gives her a theoretical approximate range under engine of 6,250 NM.

The propulsion systems is linked to a Dong-I gearbox and a Scan CP-12 variable pitch propeller.

ASIA's electrical power is generated by two gen-sets:
* Cat 20KW single phase generator. Current hours 10,300
* Polar Power 14KW DC generator. Current hours 2,200
* 2x 3KW Balmar alternators on the main engine
* 36x Trojan T 105 batteries @ 1800AH
* Hybrid power system based on energy efficient 3x 3KW Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger

Her spars have been constructed of laminated extrusions by David Lambourne Yacht Rigging of Brisbane, Australia.
AES New Zealand provided full design and load analysis. ASIA's carbon fibre boom is a Park Avenue design which enables easier mainsail handling.
