Broker Remarks
In 1976, Fairchild Yachts commissioned noted power boat designer Ben Ostlund, of Newport Beach, California, to design a 30 foot raised deck cruiser in the classic style. A great deal of research and careful calculations have resulted in the SCOUT 30, a vintage motor yacht with some valuable improvements and carefully through-out innovations. The SCOUT 30, powered by the reliable Perkins 4-108 diesel, will deliver 20 mpg at 8 knots and will cruise for 1,000 miles, without refueling, on 100 gallons of fuel. 2,000 lbs. of ballast provide superb ultimate stability and the soft bilge sections remove the uncomfortable 'snap-roll' experienced on hard chine yachts. She has 30 amp shore power. The SCOUT 30 is an excellent sea boat: dry and comfortable. She is quiet under power, both in the cockpit and in the saloon. Extremely efficient, the SCOUT 30 is obviously a good idea whose time has come......again.
