In 1976, Fairchild Yachts commissioned noted power boat designer- Ben Oslund of Newport Beach, California to design a 30 foot raised deck cruiser in the classic style. A great deal of research and careful calculations resulted in the SCOUT 30, a vintage motor yacht with some valuable improvements, and carefully thought-out innovations.
The SCOUT 30, powered by the reliable Perkins 4-108 diesel, will deliver 20 mpg at 8 knots and will cruise for 1,000 miles, without refueling, on 100 gallons of fuel. 2000 lbs of ballast provide superb ultimate stability and the soft bilge sections remove the uncomfortable 'snap roll' experienced on hard chine yachts.
The SCOUT 30 is an excellent sea boat: dry and comfortable. She is quiet under power, both in the cockpit and in the saloon. Extremely efficient, the SCOUT 30 is obviously a good idea whose time has come...again.
Current owner purchased the vessel in October of 2016. At that time, the reported engine hours were 700 hrs and 373.3 showing on the hour meter. The current owner has only put 139 hr on her since then.
Prior to delivery, Danisel Marine Services was contracted to address any survey deficiencies and also service the boat stem-to-stern. The following items are worth noting but not the entire list:
Oil changes and engine service has been completed annually and last service was completed in March 2021.
In December 2016, all screws in the brass rub rail were removed, holes filled with epoxy, and refastened by Cable Marine.
In February 2019, the mahogany section of the deckhouse was rebuilt by Cable Marine.
The full Eisenglass enclosure and hatch covers are NEW and were installed in April 2021.
