"Pleiades" is an outstanding example of 48' Hatteras Convertible. All of the best performance and handling traits of a legendary classic, with a full open-checkbook refit.

Cosmetic re-fit in 2015 with premium carpet, synthetic teak and holly on all flooring and new soft goods. All new 2017 Garmin large and small integrated chart plotters, radome, fishfinder and autopilot, networked and remote for autopilot.

Major mechanical re-fit in 2018 with new Northern Lights 16kw gen, 2 new complete Cruisair systems, entire galley refit with Corian, four Vitrifrigo drawer units, Wolf Induction Top, and Frigoboat Cockpit Freezer with Danfoss compressor.

New EZ2CY enclosure, Awlgrip cockpit, and full bottom job with Pettit Trinidad inSummer of 2018.
"Pleiades" has seen only light fishing use and has been predominately used for cruising on the northern Chesapeake Bay!
Oil Samples just pulled at annual fluid and filter change (12/18) and all came back great and are on file.

Accommodations and Layout

"Pleiades" is not your typical late 80's convertible.  In fact with her impressive exterior paint, new EZ2CY enclosure and timeless great lines she is as recent and fresh as almost any new boat.  Her interior has been redone and updated to match with a brand new sectional sofa in the salon, updated audio and visual equipment and a stunning galley makeover.  Her two stateroom, two head (both with stall showers) arrangement is functional and spacious and there are all the comforts of home including a stackable washer and dryer!
"Pleiades" had an entire revamp of her air conditioning and heating systems in 2018 to include new compressors, evaporators, controls and relays.  SMXir digital controls were added and a new raw water pump for the system was also installed at a total cost of over $12,000.
  • New Vitrifrigo Dual Stainless Steel Drawer Style Refrigerators and Drawer Style Freezers installed (October of 2017, Parts cost alone over $5,000)
  • Shower sump pump and discharge hose replaced (Dec. 2017)
  • Cockpit freezer rebuilt with new evaporator plate, thermostat control and compressor (Dec 2017)
  • New Rule Bilge Pumps Installed (February 2018)

Hull, Deck and Construction

In June of 2018 the owner of "Pleiades" had the boat hauled and soda blasted removing all of the old bottom paint build up and addressing any blisters that the boat had.  Six coats of barrier coat were applied and two coats of Trinidad SR ablative bottom paint on top of that for a fresh, smooth new bottom! (Cost of $12,081.76)

Electrical System

"Pleiades" had a new Northern Lights 16kw Generator installed in February of 2018.  All new exhaust system for the generator as well as muffler were installed.  The parts cost on the generator and sound shield alone were $22,590 and with the exhaust work and install you are talking an improvement to this boat of over $25k.
