Owners Comments/Brief History

The yacht was delivered in 2008 as VENTOTENE to Norweign Shipman dealer (Ventotene Marine). VENTOTENE was the showboat of Ventotene Marine, used for demo sailing, boat shows and limited private use.

We bought the yacht in August 2010 – when we were still living in Asia – sailed from Norway to Holland and changed the name to HASSEBAS.

HASSEBAS was managed by Swan Benelux in Ijmuiden (kept inside) from September 2010 until May 2011. In June 2011 we started our journey from Holland to the Med, Caribbean, Florida, Newport and Maine. We left the yacht in the USA end of season 2012.

We continued our journey in 2014 from Newport, Bermuda, Azores, Portugal and back to the Med. The yacht is now in Palma for winter 2014/2015.

We consistently sail with just two of us. HASSEBAS is very easy to handle, both in the marina and sailing. We have no fear of flying the asymmetric as often as we can, even with only two of us onboard.

Broker's Comments

The Shipman 63’ is a thorough modern fast cruising yacht, taking advantage of modern materials and design to optimize performance and comfort for her crew.  HASSEBAS is in sparkling condition and she has a superb layout internally and externally for family cruising or to regatta.

She was designed to sail shorthanded and the current husband and wife team have proven this again, and again – including ocean crossings and other long passages.

Accommodation

Summary of Accommodation:

The accommodation of the Shipman 63 is contemporary, bright and airy and with excellent visibility from the saloon, navigation area and the galley. The yacht is unique in that she is fundamentally a deck saloon without looking like one from the exterior. Her sleek lines and clever design gives the best of both worlds. Interior furnished in American Cherry.

The forward crew cabin is separated from the owner’s suite by a watertight bulkhead, but with enough space for a workshop, heads, and double bunks for the crew.

Due to the yachts powerful lines, the owner’s suite has a large amount of room, with a large double bed, offset to port and a sofa on the starboard side with plenty of storage forward and on the hull side.  A clever modification to the owners bed allows it to be propped up so when on port tack the mattress is level and can be used on passage – only starboard tack was possible before.

A step up into the saloon are giving excellent exterior views with an open plan feel to the galley, seating area,  the navigation area and day heads. The two mirror image aft cabins are both generous in size and comfortable for guests, well separated from the owner’s suite.

·         All wood panels have been changed to American Cherry, done by Van Dam (2011).

·         Removed bench in galley to make more room (2013).

·         Adjusted table legs/added convertible bed at saloon table for 2 adults (2013).

·         Floor panels – improved access to equipment/wiring/tubing (2013).
