MONK - the vessels made by Ed Monk

MONK is an American ship and naval architect. Ed Monk designed the vessels from 1914 to 1973. After his death, there were numerous developments, as well as the boats with the original design, and real masterpieces of shipbuilding. Some ships now serve as a benchmark for modern architects and marine designers.

MONK created both sailing and motor boats. He started his activity working for Robert Moran. During the First World War he moved to the shipyard that built ships in Seattle. When the company was closed, he went to work for Blanchard Boat Co. In 1925, being the ship's master, Monk developed Silver King - his first big ship. Silver King had a length of 62 feet.

Ed Monk began his independent career as a naval architect. His office and place of residence was the Nan cruiser. On this ship he worked and created projects of the warships. The designs were used by different shipbuilding organizations. The portfolio of this architect includes the merchant ships and vessels for transportation of dry cargo.

After the war, Ed Monk began to construct the boats, yachts and row boats. He has created more than 3,000 models of boats. The designs of the architect are still used by the shipyards worldwide. Monk was engaged in the boat design until his death. Sailing and motor yachts of the architect reach a length of 50 feet. Today, the ready-made vessels can be found on sale that were built by the famous American master of shipbuilding.
