THE INSULAR NATURAL CHARM OF LAVISH REEFS

← All charters

The Great Barrier Reef of Australia is the largest coral reef on Earth and can be considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The holy duty of scuba divers and snorkelers the world over is to visit it. Beach, land, and sea lovers along with anyone who is crazy about thrilling views are not an exception and should visit here, as well.

The Whitsunday Islands are located betwixt the reef and the mainland of Australia. They provide access to the reef and possess their own delights – solitary beaches, luxuriant rainforests, and giddy peaks.

Your captain can recommend to you the best anchorage, of which there are a great and numerous amount. A seven-day journey is foreseen here as you travel the 40 mile stretch the islands provide and, thanks to such short distances, it’s possible to visit several islands a day or examine them via tender.

The Whitsundays can be attended during the winter instead of the Caribbean and since most of the islands are uninhabited, the charter visitors can be the first to leave their footprints on the pure sands of the beaches. Fishermen can be sure to use their skills to catch “granders”, or thousand pound marlins.

Hamilton Island is sumptuous and you’ll start and finish your charter here. It’s considered to be the best resort in the world according to several votings, but most guests are attracted by the warm water, coral reefs, and abundance of tropical fish of all kinds. With luxurious rainforests on the shore, various sea creatures under the surface of the water, and splendid delights on land, the Whitsundays won’t disappoint you.

Travel program

Day 1From Hamilton Island to Hook Island

It’s preferable to go to Hamilton Island by seaplane and spend the night at this luxurious resort until you meet your yacht. Sail to Hook Island where you’ll be able to cast anchor in the Nara Inlet that looks reminiscent of a fjord. It’s recommend to go ashore so you can examine the 8,000 year old pristine caves and, if it’s rainy season, splash around in the cool rock pools or under a waterfall. Later, relax in a spa surrounded by the magnificent green mountains that are waiting for you.

Day 2Hook Island

You can play water games on the tranquil waters here before sailing to Stonehaven, a sheltered cove surrounded by high cliffs. On the way, you can have a picnic on the snow white sands of Langford Island, a small gem of an island where you can dive or simply relax. You can expect picturesque sunsets at the west-facing Stonehaven and at night you can join in a veritable Australian tradition and barbecue.

Day 3Hook Island

Hook Island is home to many coves that dot its coasts. Notable to the island is Butterfly Bay, situated at the north end of the island and can be sailed to. Watch bright tropical fish swim by while having a picnic under the shade of the mangrove trees, a gathering place for the butterflies the Bay was named for.
(Don’t forget to bring some honey to attract these small insects!) End your night with the spectacular sight of stars twinkling in the sky instead of the city lights.

Day 4Hook Island to Whitsunday Island

As you sail southward, stop by Border Island’s Cataran Bay, an unrivaled snorkeling destination along the Great Barrier Reef. You’ll be surrounded by thick eucalyptus trees as you swim alongside the multicolored angelfish. Afterwards, head to Whitehaven Beach where you’ll experience crystal clear water and four miles of white quartz sand. Go to Hill Inlet if you want to see the unforgettable sight of the sand whirling during tide. That night you’ll have dinner on board.

Day 5Whitsunday

While sailing around to Cid Harbour on Whitsunday, it’s possible to see dugongs shuffling for grass along the seafloor. Similar to manatees, these gentle sea mammals can reach weights up 2,000 pounds and live as long as 70 years. This area is not only popular with sea turtles, but the rare rock wallabies, as well, that were isolated on this island 10,000 years ago.

Day 6From Whitsunday to Hamilton Island Harbour

If you return there early enough, you’ll be able to take a helicopter or seaplane to the Great Barrier Reef where you’ll get the opportunity to dive or snorkel, or simply picnic and relax on the sand. Returning with a feeling of pleasant weariness, you’ll be able to refresh yourself and dine at one of elegant restaurants or the resort along the shore.

Day 7Hamilton Island

An early start will give you the chance to tackle the Hamilton Island Golf Club course on its own island close by, a Pheter Thompson designed 18-hole championship par 71, while children can enjoy their own course of mini-golf. All resort facilities are at your disposal, including access to Catseye Beach, tennis courts, swimming pools, and shops filled with local art, fashion, and jewelry. When you’re finished here, you’ll return to the mainland via seaplane.
