GENERAL CONDITION |
This is one of the last of the Greatest Production Wood Boat Building Companies of all time. ENCORE was delivered from the Pompano Beach Manufacturing facility to the World's largest Pontiac Dealer in Gross Point Michigan as the WIDE TRACK. After only a couple of seasons in the Great Lakes, the vessel was purchased by a prominent Seattle family and transported to Seattle in the hold of a ship. Spending the next forty years in the covered moorage of the Seattle Yacht Club, the present owner took possession just over ten years ago and continued the SYC tradition of yachtsman-ship and pride of ownership.
ACCOMMODATIONS |
Three staterooms with the master full width aft. Twin beds with custom mattresses, large bureau drawer storage, hanging lockers and vanity tops. Mid-ship guest stateroom with twin berths athwart-ship, custom mattresses and ample hanging lockers. Forward in fore-peak, twin stacked bunks share the space with the laundry center. Over / Under laundry conveniently located for regular use. For the weekend overflow, the dinette table lifts and secures out of the way to allow the dinette seating to slide into place for an additional berth. Large "U" shaped sofa in the main salon has been a bunk when the salon heater fireplace is in use on a cruise in the Broughtons where the scenery is impressive, and the rain can be too. "Pick-A-Watt" electric heater in the salon & two oil radiator heaters keep the boat warm dockside or with the use of the generator.

REMARKS |
Chris-Craft became a household word in boating in post WWII America, and around the world. The factory brochure addresses how this came to be in narrative like this;
"Why is Chris-Craft Constellation always a few years ahead of the times? And ahead of the competition? It's a combination of many things; a 75 year tradition of craftsmanship, The most modern boat building materials in the world, precision engineering and such things as double-planked bottoms, hand rubbed natural wood surfaces, and rugged marine engines that keep going when the going gets rough. It's attention to important details like hand-sanding between each coat of varnish and luxurious custom features. Its extensive research that tests stress and strain reactions under the toughest conditions, then finds the right answers so your Chris-Craft handles smooth and easy when the sea isn't."
The Chris-Craft Corporation was in transition in the late '60's and early '70's from 75 years of wood boat
construction to the construction of boats in fiberglass. The early Commander series emerged in 1966, but the Constellations were built until the last rolled out of production in 1972.
ENCORE is the culmination of 75 years of wooden boat building artistry. With a factory Fly-Bridge and a pedigree dating back to the original owner in Gross Point Michigan, and 40 years as a prominent resident of the Seattle Yacht Club, this is the genuine article in the condition that would make any purist proud.
