Overview

Completely rebuilt bottom with inner mahogany diagonal and outer planks set in 5200, hull bronze fastened and all questionable wood replaced. The boat has a 5200 "no soak" bottom and has no plywood. Proper fasteners were used in the bottom planking. It also has the original style Kapok seat cushions with labels. The MBL was completely rebuilt by a master marine engine mechanic and has run flawlessly since installed. Included is a custom trailer. This boat has won many awards and has a long history of winning Best-in-Show and Best-in-Class. It is possibly the best racer available at a realistic price. Fresh varnish was put onto the boat in 2019. • This is a high performance Racing Runabout completed with care and attention to details to allow it to judge well in shows and to enjoy out in the water. It has always been a turn-key boat since restoration and the ONLY problem I have had is the odd time running out of gas, but don’t tell anyone…. :~) • MBL 158hp - “blueprinted” Now 225-250hp - GPS just under 50MPH (49.6 MPH was the fastest recorded) Rebuilt by the late George Schin in Florida. A highly regarded ACBS engine restorer know for increasing horsepower while still maintaining a strong and durable engine. Used an intake manifold from a MCL to allow dual carburetors. • Oil filter added. • Fuel & water filter - canister style • Pertronix ignitor replacing points. (Comes with extra ignitor for security although I never needed it) • PYI shaft seal. Pack-less and dripless, the PSS Shaft Seal helps to eliminate water in the bilge (100% water tight) & wear to the propeller shaft. • modern ACME propeller - 13" x 17” with tip cup to fine tune RPM to approx 3500-3600. Boat comes with original propeller as spare. • proper square head on engine lag bolts into stringers • Custom tandem axel trailer included - electric brakes & LED lights • Fresh varnish 2019 • Multiple award winner - long history of “Best in Class” & “Best in Show” - consistent ~95-99 point boat. Always depends on the judging. Some judges don’t notice the extra carburetor ;~) • 12 volt conversion. Easy to loose a point here. • 5200 no-soak bottom. NO PLYWOOD and proper fasteners in inner diagonal bottom planking • Kapock cushions with labels - proper and very rare in restorations • Comes with original 1952 life preserver for “show".

History of the Vessel

The high-performance model of the post-war fleet, only 503 Racing Runabout models were built between 1948 and 1954.

This is one of the nicest Racing Runabouts on the market today and she has been comprehensively restored to a very high degree. The Chris Craft MBL 150hp engine has been balanced and blueprinted - she runs smooth and fast at 50mph.

Fresh varnish in 2019 - this one is ready to enjoy. "Class E" is the perfect blend of form and function with her long mahogany foredeck, low slung appearance, and performance at all speeds. She is an absolute treat to drive and is worthy of adding to your permanent collection!
