Overview
Grayling is a 47 ft steel raised pilot house trawler. She was designed
as a honest cruising boat to be operated by a couple under almost any
condition. She is fully live aboard and equally able at sea or at
anchor. Her short mast is on a tabernacle and can clear less than 15
feet making it the perfect looper.
Engine
Grayling
is powered by a single Cummins 4BT 3.9 150hp turbo charged with fuel
consumption of 2.2 GPH at 8 kts. Her hull is very efficient with a
performace of better than 4 miles per gallon. Her 680 gal fuel tanks
provide a range of 2800 miles-handy for selective fuel stops. Hydraulic
steering by Hynautics, a large rudder and a Vetus electric bow thruster
make close manuvering easy without the expense of twin engines.
Hull
Her hull
construction is 1/4 steel below waterline, 3/16 in. above,
longitudinally framed with transverse frames every 31 ins. The pilot
house is steel below window line and fiberglassed wood above. The main
cabin is steel with a fiberglass ceiling.
