Overview

A blend of modern and traditional, this magnificent gentleman’s yacht which once belonged to the artist Jean-Michel Folon is now offered for sale.

“Over the Rainbow”… Its name already holds the promise of a long voyage and its past is rather like a fairytale. This 35-metre yacht left the Dickie & Sons shipyard in Wales in 1930 to embark on several lives. That of a mine-sweeper in the Second World War, then a floating casino in Greece, and finally as a chartered yacht based on the Côte d’Azur, where her owner of the time finally abandoned her…

In 2002, Jean-Michel Folon fell in love with her. He bought the wreck and gave it a new lease of life. Two years’ repair work in Italy carried out by Mondo Marine were necessary to refit her. “Over the Rainbow” came back to life. All in wood, the yacht benefits from refined and comfortable reception areas where a warm and cosy atmosphere reigns supreme. In fact, she can only accommodate eight guests and five crew members – “The fewer the better to guarantee privacy”, said Folon. There are thus three double cabins including a splendid master cabin, one twin cabin, several lounges and a galley. The annex, designed by the artist and made by Italian craftsmen, is a unique blend of teak and mahogany.

A far cry from the flamboyant yachts that sail our seas, “Over the Rainbow” is the ultimate gentleman’s classic motor yacht and invites fans of the Deep Blue Sea to enjoy a peaceful and poetic crossing…
