Chesapeake prior name Pterodactyl is hull # 4 of 7Evelyn 42' racing sailboats built by Bob Evelyn of Formula Yachts of Groton CT in the 1980's. In 1995 Her keel was replaced with a Dobroth hollow stainless steel fin keel with lead bulb of 5500 lbs. increasing displacement to 12900lbs. In 2003 the motor and drive shaft were moved further aft out of the keel disturbed water also adding a Saildrive which further enhanced performance.
Before moving to the Chesapeake Bay, she participated in a full race schedule on the Great Lakes including weekly races, MAC Races ( Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac) winning class and 10th overall in addition to PHRF where she took overall Detroit season champion.
Chesapeake can be a winner, built as a heavy air "reacher" she loves big air!
