Overview

"Wet Willie" is a nicely updated 53 Hatteras Classic that has served her current owners well over the last four years as a live aboard and Chesapeake Bay cruiser.  With three staterooms and three heads, a full size updated galley and spacious salon and aft deck this boat has plenty of room and sets the benchmark for all yachts in this size range.  

When the current owners purchased "Wet Willie" she had been lovingly kept by the previous owner for seventeen years.  Through these two owners she has seen over two decades of good care and enjoyment.  A Webasto diesel heater was added for comfortable living even during the winter months and all heads and flooring have been updated along with numerous soft good, headliner and appliance improvements.

Layout and Accommodations

"Wet Willie" is a classic flush deck yacht providing three full decks of use. The upper deck includes a full flybridge with helm station with captain and companion chairs. Guest seating is immediately forward with a large bench for lounging and aft is a boat deck featuring a davit and Boston Whaler tender. The flybridge has a large dunnage box which doubles for additional seating as well as storage. The Boston Whaler tender is eleven feet long and has a Lehr propane fueled outboard with canvas cover.

The Main Deck features the salon, lower helm station, chart table, comfortable couch and chairs, chest of drawers, and end table.  New flooring gives a clean modernized feel to the salon and is seen throughout most of the boat.  A flat screen TV, stereo, Levelore Blinds and custom helm seat round out this area. 

Aft of the Salon is the Sun Deck fully enclosed with sliding glass windows to port and starboard and clear curtains aft, a wet bar, built in storage cabinets, full bench seating at stern, table and chairs for dining and a drop in freezer for extra food storage. Access to the swim platform is midship via a fixed ladder with folding in water steps.

The outside foredeck with bow pulpit holds the windlass and anchor with chain rode. Forward of the house is a cushioned built in bench seat. The foredeck is accessed from sliding doors from the Salon/Pilothouse or wing doors from the Sun Deck. A wide walk around covered side deck make line handling easy while docking. A Cable Master was added to effortlessly handle the 50amp shore power cable. Two dunnage boxes forward store mooring line and yacht items while serving dual purpose of providing extra seating.

The updated galley is located on a "tween" deck between the main and lower decks and includes a side by side refrigerator, four burner cook top, microwave/convection oven, garbage disposal, sink, dishwasher and trash compactor. A flat screen TV is located over the adjacent dinette area. Below the galley is a large mechanical room with access to the generator and batteries as well as providing additional storage.

Forward of the galley on the lower deck is the private bow stateroom, an ensuite head with stall shower, and a flat screen TV. Behind the forward bulkhead is the chain locker, rope locker and spare anchor. A washer and dryer combo is to starboard along with a large pantry.

Aft of the galley are twin stand up engine rooms, each with engine room heaters, block heaters for easy starting in cold weather, automatic oil changers and Racor and Airsep filters. Aft are the Mid and Master Staterooms with private heads, stall showers and flat screen TV's.  All staterooms feature abundant drawer and hanging locker storage as well as updated flooring and beautiful teak cabinetry.
All three heads feature updated tile backsplashes and countertops.  The boat has reverse cycle air conditioning and heating, electric baseboard heat and a highly efficient Webasto diesel heater.  The Webasto was added to make living aboard during colder months more economical and efficient and anyone who boats in colder climates will certainly recognize the value in this system being onboard.
