Overview

CATRIONA is absolutely stunning, with an amazing amount of detail and numerous upgrades performed over the current owner’s tenure. She has an old-world elegance about her, both above and belowdecks, and ample accommodations in two staterooms. The owner's quarters have twelve opening ports and a further four hatches - all with screens, which provide excellent light and cross-ventilation. The crew's quarters are separate and forward of the main salon, and can be used for either a captain or as a children’s cabin. The interior is finished in a Herreshoff style, with the teak sole accented by varnished teak trim on white flat panels. Lighting is provided by 12-volt reading lamps at all berths and settees, and there are a number of overhead dome lamps as well.

REMARKS

ACCOMMODATIONS

The spacious owner’s quarters are located forward, along with the guest stateroom. These two cabins essentially mirror each another, each with generous double berths with some bin storage and lockers underneath. Aft of each berth is a dresser with two drawers and a locker under. The starboard stateroom also has a hanging locker.

Next aft to starboard is the enclosed head with Corian vanity and sink with pressure hot and cold water, manual head plumbed via Y-valve to a holding tank, en-suite shower and good storage.

The main salon is spacious and very light, with numerous opening ports. Forward and to port is a large hanging locker that is deep enough to have shelves outboard. Aft of the hanging locker is an L-settee, with storage behind the settee back and a shelf above. There is ample storage under the settee. The dining table is a large, varnished teak drop-leaf table that has two large drawers fitted at each end. Opposite the settee is a dresser with three drawers, and lockers above and below. Just aft of the dresser is a second hanging locker. Further aft on the starboard side is the navigation station. The yacht's electrical distribution panels and navigation equipment are mounted above the chart table. Below the table there is a chart drawer and a storage locker along with three drawers.

Across from the nav station to port is the very well-equipped modern galley. The galley has all the amenities, including refrigeration and freezer boxes, Force 10 4-burner gimbaled propane stove with oven and GE Microwave. Wide Corian counter tops provide an abundance of work space as well as storage below in two drawers and two lockers. A trash bin and a drop-face locker are located under the stove.

The third stateroom or crew's quarters is accessed from an on-deck hatch forward. This cabin  has a  V-berth, Corian vanity aft with lockers over and under, and a sink with pressured hot and cold water. The head and shower are aft on centerline; the head is manual, and has both a holding tank and overboard discharge. Additionally, there are 2 opening ports.

Purposefully elegant, but without any frills, as L. Francis Herreshoff intended, is the best way to describe her accommodations.

All exterior varnished surfaces are finished with Awlspar spar varnish, the varnished areas have been all re-done and are in excellent condition.

In the Herreshoff style, the cockpit has a beautiful elliptical shape, with plenty of seating for both daysailing and coastal or offshore cruising.

Sail storage and gear lockers are both port and starboard. Amazingly wide side decks provide easy access fore and aft. All exterior decking is meticulously hand-laid teak. The deck houses are built from solid teak and are of absolutely stunning quality. The builder took great pains to replicate all specifications of the original BOUNTY.  All hardware was cast from designs from the original drawings from the designer and made by Mystic Valley Foundry. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Simple beauty was the hallmark of L. Francis Herreshoff’s designs. This vessel has been kept virtually 100% true to her creator's intention; only minor changes have been made from the original plans to improve storage etc. All of the moldings, carvings, rigging etc. were completed as the designer specified.

Extensive research as to original canvas colors etc. to match her as closely as possible to the original BOUNTY was performed, and it shows.

While a number of other yachts have been built to this plan, CATRIONA is the closest replica and gleams with authenticity. The attention to every detail that has gone into this superb yacht is impressive.

This vessel offers a unique experience to sail a modern design with the feel of a yesteryear classic.

New lifelines and air conditioning have also been installed.
