STARR is a masterpiece of custom design and execution. The hull, decks and superstructure were created utilizing the SCRIMP vacuum bagging process resulting in a lighter yet stronger structure. In addition, the services of the Van Cappellen Consultancy of the Netherlands were used in adding a custom insulation system throughout, dramatically reducing noise levels while underway.
STARR's layout is perfectly configured for extended cruising, maximizing space and overall ease of operation. Exterior features include a spacious 16' wide by 12' deep aft deck and full walk-around side decks with 2 1/2' bulwarks. Port and starboard curved stairways aft lead down to a 5' swim platform and an aircraft style water-tight door in the center of the euro- transom, accessing the crew's area and engine room. Another stairway forward on the port side of the aft deck leads up to the flybridge and boat deck.
Interior joinery throughout the yacht is done in a satin finished Makore (African Cherry) wood accented with high gloss Carpathian Elm burl trim. All flooring is planked mahogany covered in most areas with textured bound edge carpeting. Upon entering the salon from the aft deck one is immediately impressed with feelings of understated elegance, openness and warmth. The ambiance is further enhanced by large side windows with matching Makore wood blinds plus various available combinations of lighting both overhead and around the perimeter. Moving forward from the salon, up one step, is the fully equipped galley to starboard and dining table for 6 to port. Next are port and starboard style, water tight side entry doors followed by the pilothouse with center helm and electronics array. A stairway on the forward port side of the pilothouse leads down to the full beam master stateroom with his and her baths, VIP guest stateroom and twin guest stateroom both with en suite baths. The captain and crew's staterooms, crew's head, utility/laundry area and engine room, located below deck aft, are accessed from the interior via a stairway on the port side aft in the main salon. This provides complete privacy for the owners and their guests.
