Overview

In 1928, Frank Pembroke Huckins invented one of the first true planing hull forms — the Huckins Quadraconic® hull.   Huckins also developed a patented wood lamination process with layered oak for Huckins keels — the renowned “Fairform Flyers.”   From these early innovations, Huckins motor yachts were destined to become a uniquely American story.

This 2003 Huckins 44 'Atlantic' model is true to her heritage - a fine example of a custom, hand crafted motor yacht.   Her stateroom accommodates two in single berths port and starboard with ample cedar lined closet space forward.  Her layout flows from the teak lined aft cockpit up into her spacious, fully enclosed bridge deck, stepping down into an open saloon with a convertible "L" shaped settee to starboard that converts to a double bed.   Forward to port is a galley with stovetop, microwave, refrigerator and sink.   To starboard, a head with sink and spacious shower round out the Atlantic's interior appointments.

The Atlantic is well suited for entertaining and day boating, as well as overnighting.   Her large windows, open and bright styling is a refreshing departure from often crowded and dark contemporary interiors.   She harkens back to simpler times with classic American furnishings and wall coverings.   A new owner with customization in mind could easily refit the interior spaces to suit a unique vision.

Twin Cummins diesels with direct drive propel the 44 effortlessly through big water with a smooth ride.  She is capable of a top speed of over 30kts, cruising nicely at 26kts.  She has the navigation aids one would expect - VHF radio, GPS, radar and autopilot -all arranged in a simple and well laid out helm station.   There is seating for eight comfortably in the mid cabin, fifteen people can be seated throughout the boat while underway, over twenty people comfortably aboard at hull speeds for cocktailing.

Jane Taylor has recently undergone exterior refinishing to her brightwork and cabin top.  The teak and seats in the cockpit were refinished, the bow pulpit stripped and re-varnished.  It is time for a new owner to take 'Jane Taylor' into the future with the love and care she deserves.   With that investment, she will certainly return many years of enjoyment and safe cruising.
